If someone is already banned from driving but ignores the ban and gets back behind the wheel they should be hit with a lifetime ban and a very hefty fine as well as serious prison time. Kill someone while banned, or drunk or under the influence of drugs and it should be a murder charge.

That in America would be attempted murder using your car to ram a police vehicle then there is fleeing and the other offences, they would have added as many as they could then the courts would have given him consecutive sentences he would have been an old man by the time he gets out.For this kind of nutter they should start doing consecutive sentences so the serve the maximum time in jail. Anyone driving while banned should be sentenced to 2 years minimum car crushed,if caught again should be doubled to 4 years.

For something like what he did they should have there licence taken away for life and let back on the road again . For other offences ie driving on the phone or drink driving they all should be given 3 chances and after the third you lose there licence for life including drug driving as well . Then our roads will be more safer . If they do get caught after they been banned for life they should be given not prison but a £20,000 fine to deter other people not to do it.

I absolutely think that any damages should be charged to the defendant's! They have no real punishment and huge fines on top of any jail time would be a better deterrent. When released they should have to prove they have gotten a job to start paying it off or go back to prison.

Sentence was far too light and should have been at least 60 custodial and a lifetime ban.

What a joke of a sentence in my eyes, he should've got a sentence for the whole of the band that he had in place in the first place and the next 13 months added to it and another 27 months for driving ban . And then told the total of them all added up together and told. With a reason he was day, not coming out in prison, until all the sentences are covered because he couldn't be trusted a keep to the ban why out in the community.

If someone offends enough to lose their licence they aren't going to care if the don't have one. Custodial sentence is the answer. Banning someone who is already banned or hasn't ever got a license is pointless.

That was attempted murder so he should have got at least 15 years in jail with a lifetime driving ban AND made to pay for ALL damage to police vehicles, any other vehicles involved and any damage to the roads infrastructure. Anybody driving without insurance should be considered as being liable for any damage they cause to anything they hit.

Could the driver not be charged with attempted manslaughter? I'm not a officer so don't know the law but it was obviously intentional ramming that caused the incident.

Police cars should be reinforced before out on the roads. Anybody fails to stop for the police, should be forced off the roads. If they get hurt or killed after refusing to stop - it is their own fault.

Any form of assault on a police officer be it spitting tp ABH and more should carry a minimum 12-month prison sentence and the sooner the British Justice System gives some consistency to the sentences given out, as at the moment the same offence can have a different result

The problem with banned drivers driving could be aleviated by not being such tyrannical pricks with stupid speed cameras and lazy "letter in the post" policing.

Should’ve been given 5 years. Burglars should get 10 years for each offence. This country is a joke.
