Golf's Most Effective Speed Training System: bit.ly/SpeedToad1
Jake Knapp has one of the most efficient, effective, and incredible swings in golf. He combines speed and accuracy as good as anyone else in the world. Let's take a look at his driver swing in slow motion and breakdown how and why he is such a great driver of the golf ball. I know there are a few elements in Jake Knapp's driver swing that I am working on implementing in my driver swing. What are you working on in your swing that you can learn from Jake's swing?

Any speed training tools you recommend to get swing speeds like this?

Yeah he has a great swing. Little concerned about the power squat down into the ground but he recovers so well coming into impact. On the telecast at Vidante NBC showed a comparison side by side with Fred Couples and its almost identical angles and rhythm. One of the most technically sound and impressive swings currently on the PGA Tour with effortless power. Has a tendency to mis time the downswing slightly and come over the top for a shut pull draw but hung on to win under the severest pressure. Big advantage is he knows how to hit his driver both ways at will a key factor that is playing Augusta and other demanding course majors.

All great call outs! That sink at the top is a big power/speed source. And I agree, with that strong grip he has, if he rushes it at the top it’ll be a closed face pull miss

It was a double edged sword; he did not look like a PGA-Tour quality striker coming down the stretch....but honestly no one seemed to be. Maybe the conditions were that tough in Mexico...I don't know. However, his short game was stellar, and his putting was solid. I'd say that was quite impressive because when your swing isn't the greatest, so much pressure is put on the short game at that level that it will certainly expose the player. He held. I hope he is the real deal..I love his story. I remember following James Hahn with my son before he won his first tournament out in the LA Open...he was selling shoes a few months before that. These guys go through absolute hell, almost all of them...when they accomplish a win, it is truly an emotional event I'm sure.

Great breakdown and a great swing to learn a lot from! saw a few comments below on the miss being pull hooks, which is my driver miss right now. My trackman average is +7 path and +1.3 face. Any advice on how to remedy? is it a rhythm issue as referenced below or is my path too in-to-out? thanks much
@longdrivebryce
@longdrivebryce 5 месяцев назад
In Jake's case, his pull hook miss is subject to his strong grip, so if he rushes his transition even the slightest and doesn't drop his hands in the slot, he runs the risk of missing with a pull hook. Sounds like you love to draw the ball. Having a +7 swing path is a much better spot to be than -7, so I don't think you need much more than a small tweak. Without seeing your swing that's tough to make suggestions, I wouldn't want to steer you wrong. Could be as simple as your set up, maybe your stance is slightly closed? Always start from the ground up with the basics, sometimes swing fixes can be as simple as that.

In the discussion around the 3:30 point we might note he really has not started swinging or turning even having shifted his hips as a “first move” off the top. All that “width” was used to produce a bigger shoulder turn, and that accomplished he gets compact into the Hogan or Nicklaus position with the right elbow down and the right upper arm pretty close to the chest, and the shaft of the club still parallel to the ground - lots of “lag.”

If you want the secret. He takes the club all the way back. If you understand what I mean, that’s all he does. He takes the club back online and never stops. If you endeavor to smoothly, take the club back, as far as you can, your downswing will be automatic .. if you need it said another way, if you take the club back smoothly online as far as you can in balance, there’s no way the club will stop. It will automatically transition.. there’s quite literally nothing to do … You’re welcome. By the way, this is what made John Daly great.. backswing never ends, which perfectly sequences the downswing

To comment that the finish is the “only” that’s is similar to Adams swing really shows a complete cluelessness about the golf swing in general. Which is true about 90% of the people watching these videos and I’d say 98% of the people trying to play this game.
