Shadow John, I’m from Scottsdale, Arizona U.S.A. and just recently heard my first song from BANDMAID (Play)! I WAS BLOWN AWAY! I started listening to every song from BANDMAID I could download on the internet and have been REBORN when it comes to HARD ROCK! Many years ago, I remember driving around with my brother in his car and hearing THE BEATLES for the first time on the radio! We listened to “I Want To Hold Your Hand” which is probably their most popular and ICONIC song! Not since then have I ever been so unbelievably impressed with a Rock and Roll Band! Until now with BANDMAID! I’ve listened to around 40 of their songs and can say without question that they don’t have a Bad Song! They are all WINNERS in my mind with some being better than others but, all of them are AWESOME! I CAN’T SAY THAT ABOUT ANY OTHER BAND I HAVE EVER LISTENED TO! IT’S UNBELIEVABLE! What is even more impressive are their LIVE PERFORMANCES! I think they are better LIVE than in the STUDIO! I cannot say that about any other band! I can’t wait for them to make a “Western U.S.” concert swing so I can see them in person! THAT’S AT THE TOP OF MY “BUCKET LIST”! John, keep up the GREAT WORK and be well and be safe my friend!
BAND-MAID another great song - a non-stop rocker with bass and lead guitar solos and a brief slow down but no STOPS then the chorus comes in - EXCELLENT. This may be their best song.
Seriously, what more could you want from a rock song??!! This is the song that sealed the deal with Band Maid for me. This song made me go back to their whole catalog. The chorus is just spanking and yea the bass solo is really good, but when the lead solo kicks in, it is just super vibrant coming after the bass solo. Really kicked my ass. Just really great song writing. The drums are just ballistic and the outro is just so, so groovy that you just can't help loving it.
Now it will be full of band maid request and it would be great if you choose live versions. Its funny when he says bass solo and then the real monster appeared.
You've just scratched the surface on Misa's bass and Kanami's guitar solos, and just about every song has a great hook. These girls write and arrange the vast majority of their songs. Dice is a great choice no matter what, one of their best. They can also tear it up live and onstage with songs such as "Take Me Higher", "Play", and "Moratorium".
I love all 3 of those but Take Me Higher might be my favorite. I'm thinking it's because Kanami uses liberal amounts of Wha pedal which is rare for her :-)
@@stimproid Take Me Higher is great, but the way she comes in with that wah guitar during the second verse of Moratorium makes you almost feel sorry for her axe because she's making it cry and scream so hard. Sublime.
Yes! Kanami, the lead guitarist, is Queen of the Hook Riff! And Miku, rhythm guitarist, is a wonderful lyricist who puts words and phrases into Saiki’s outstanding voice! I’m from the underground metal scene and I love both Babymetal and Band Maid. I got tired of feeling angry and violent and they make me very happy!💪🏻🤘🏻
Avram42, indeed. I’m a GS fan. BM kicks butt (so does BM, hmmm). Many other Jmetal ladies I appreciate. But I was pleasantly surprised that Jrock bass player for Scandal rocks. And I try not to call them “girls”, but come on, pop stars Silent Siren are so cute! Oh that’s right, she can rock the bass too! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4dOq4V4r8Uw.html
3:55 As a four decade drummer, and other instruments I fell in love and jealous at the same time over this part. HELL, I'm crazy for all of these girls for all the reasons. But this part and song is one of many that are their best. If I could only meet a nice girl like these to form a band here in the mid west USA....lol...ya right. sigh
@@stimproid Indeed, I like Baby Metal, but I stan Band Maid... I'll watch anything with them, even if it's in Japanese with no subtitles (like those Red Devil interviews...).
I can't even comprehend why people are raving about Band-Maid so much, they're like a slightly generic version of Doll$Boxx in just about every possible way.
Kanami's solos are the best, not always the fastest, rarely technical show offs and never that long, but they always fit the song perfectly. If she only ever put in the "hardest" solos she could do I doubt they'd be as enjoyable for listeners. A good example being the solo in Bubble (released a few days ago), it's slow but it's really damn good.
DICE is most excellent, indeed! The solo is my favorite. But all her solos are very good, especially in the way they FIT the song. She doesn't hog time with pointless shredding; she retains a melodic groove throughout. I love this band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think of "groove" as an interplay of melody and rhythm--Band-Maid are groove masters! "Catchy" is all about "groove". Check out "Alone" for, what I think, so far, is their second best solo (I think you will like it VERY much), and maybe my favorite bass, for the whole song...delicious! "Daydreaming", a power-ballade, has the most captivating, even haunting melody, relentlessly playing on the rhythm...always makes my eyes wet...
he got slay by Kanami Stunami Solo!!! for live performance, check out puzzle or play...and they also just release a new song called Bubble a few days ago
I love the fact that Saiki doesn't sound like a chipmunk on helium!!! Let's face it ,Saiki is a lady who sounds like a woman and her sisters are ladies who kick ass!!! Admit it Shadow John, you're hooked and we're just as addicted too!!!
At 3:30 a new Band-Maid fan is born, called Shadow John! You know how I know? That's the same ear-to-ear grin that come over me the first time I heard that chorus!
Min 3:59 The exact moment in which Princess Kanami enters the deepest part of your heart and melts it with sweetness. Very difficult to resist her charm
Hey Shadow John. For years we have had our 'Rock Gods' now we have true 'Rock Goddesses' These ladies and the ladies in 'Lovebites' have balls. The future of Rock and Metal are in very, very good hands.
Almost every Band Maid song is like an onion. It’s so well layered that the song as a whole is amazing but when you start to break it down and peel the onion, there is SO MUCH going on. Yes, they are THIS badass live as well. Try “Play” live with the extended bass and guitar solos intro.
I'm in my 50s..been listening to all sorts of genres..but this band must be one of the tightest I've heard..they're more hard rock than heavy metal.. absolutely brilliant..👏👏👏
It's normal to listen to a Band Maid song and said "This is my new number one Band Maid song". They just have so many good songs. The only thing to avoid is to do Secret Maiko Lips before Secret My Lips.
I'm gonna share your video to "Band Maid Fans Cafe" in fB~~ ;) You have one of the most genuine reactions ever~~ =D ^^ And you're basically one of us Band-Maid fans now~~ ;) =D =D =D
Your reaction is about the same as mine when I ran across them a few months ago. Everything they do is pretty much amazing. If you want live, Play, Onset (instrumental), Moratorium. As an amateur drummer, I'm totally into the Bass and Drums. I've not had a drummer I felt inspired from for decades now. But Akane has me practicing instead of just kind of loosely playing along with my eDrums. I'm scoping out acoustics again and trying to figure out how i'm going to sound proof the music room and start jamming with people again. The whole band is amazing, but I'm really grateful for the drummer getting me off my old man's ass and working to get in shape enough to play double pedals.
I have long thought Kanami the best rock guitarist on the planet, not only her composition and arrangements but she never stops playing riffs throughout every song. Most leads 'rest' between solos playing just the minimum but Kanami never rests. How she does it is a miracle. They do 2 hour shows flat out - 20 to 23 songs all high voltage. They all have exceptional stamina. Misa plays bass like a lead and Arkane, part angel part gorilla, could probably run a marathon on her lunch break.
Great review, man. Agree, the bass, guitar, vocals, drums, and vocal delivery all stellar. An unusually brilliant chorus too. For me the most powerful part is the middle eight slowdown just before the final chorus outro. It's beautiful, perfect. These girls, even with three virtuosos, show that songwriting and arrangement are where they really set themselves apart from other bands. Best new hard rock band I've heard in at least 20 years anywhere.
Yeah, I've heard them but I had my fill of off-the-shelf metal riffing and songs built around solos back in the 80s. Kinda boring imho. Thanks anyway. @@HyperNova137
BandMaids heavier songs are Dice, Secret my lips, Matchless GUM, Puzzle, Onset (an instrumental), and Real Existance. New songs are going in a more pop rock direction, partly due to management and writing for tv shows (Glory was used in an anime)
My first reaction to this was “No they are not!” but the last three have been. That said, only of the three that isn’t part of TV project is Start Over. I expect to keep up the heavier stuff but maybe not as hard as World Domination. No matter, it’s going to be very interesting. 😊
Band-Maid sounds like a generic imitation of Doll$Boxx, to be honest. Not saying they're bad at all, but they weren't doing it first, and they're still not doing it best.
@@HyperNova137 that's why we are called FANS. You like DnB and I like BM. For me it's the vocals. Doesn't matter how well the band sounds, if the vocals don't attract me then I'll not bother listening. ALDIOUS is a good example. Like the band sound but not the vocals. Enjoy DnB and I'll do the same with BM. Have a good day.
bro, you're done.. BAND-MAID is CATCHY AF this was a fun watch.. could see the boxes getting checked by your facial expressions as the song went on live.. if you wanna keep on with their harder rock stuff: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N7BQCkUb4SI.html Moratorium which ends and leads right into.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3OuO0pgCBUo.html Puzzle
Welcome to the Rabbit Hole of J-Rock/Metal! Band-Maid is fantastically skilled set of musicians! Dice is what I use to introduce people to Band-Maid. It never fails to amaze.
I am so glad that other country people have fun with BAND-MAID. They are not famous in Japan. I cannot understand that! Many Japanese popular idols don't have technique of singing and live performance is terrible but they are famous. BAND-MAID is so talented! But Japanese don't listen to their music! Can't believe that. So, please watch BAND-MAID's new song "Bubble". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T_PWQtc7zVw.html My poor English, sorry.
Welcome to the glorious world of Japanese female rock/metal bands :D Lovebites, Aldious, Mary's Blood, and Broken by the Scream are all also excellent :D
@@sjnix7044 with the band being consistent and stepping up more now (dem solos tho) , they fall in a weird zone, (the idol thing is why I didn't suggest PASSCODE or Necronomidol, both excellent..but alt-idol)
A often occurring thing is people finding Band Maid from looking at BabyMetal. There are only two similarities; one is they are Japanese. The other is they are better live. Your next reaction should be to a live video. There are many tracks to choose as there are two entire DVD's uploaded to RU-vid and individual songs from these DVD's as well. I would recommend Moratorium: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N7BQCkUb4SI.html As with the vast majority of 'live' DVD's, post production is required to get a good balance of vocals and individual instruments.
Burning Witches is an all girl power metal band from Switzerland, I think ye'd like them, particularly Seraina Telli's vocals. Try their song Hexenhammer.
Live and not the most common choices, Awkward, Matchless Gum are really good also Puzzle, Don't You Tell me and the Non Fiction Days are them at Ramming Speed blowing the doors off insert cliche here.
Thank you for reaction. Vocal : Saiki Bass : Misa Rhythm Guitar : Miku Lead Guitar : Kanami Drum : Akane I recommennd this BAND-MAID all instrumental 「Onset」 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zO670-ckEjg.html
