I have two college degrees from a moderately sized state university and I can attest that college instructors and professors have shown me that they can be the most unprofessional individuals you'll ever meet. My mother taught me from young age to respect everyone whether they are retired, a janitor, a teacher, a business owner, etc. I know from experience that a title and position doesn't always accurately represent that persons integrity and character.

Tangy diesel, wizard lies: What I've been noticing in the last 20 years is how the gambling institutions working with the government agencies are building many many Avenues to gamble but here's the real kicker they advertise Gamblers Anonymous which is which is against their (GA) Traditions that they go by in the program. Gambling , It's one of the worst Addictions on the planet. All other anonymous 12-step groups adhere to those principles that's why you don't see advertisements only in the Christmas New Year time.

Regarding Lie #2: The bank was stupid for making the loan proceeds check out to the truck owner. I worked for a lender and standard operating procedure is to make the check out to whichever shop is performing the work, ESPECIALLY is the work is being done on your collateral. Wouldn't be surprised if the loan officer lost his/her job over that five-figure mistake.

Mrs. Wizard's tale of woe regarding telecom was very familiar. I can almost guarantee that the first company she discussed was AT&T. They constantly sell speeds that they can't deliver because of the distance from the CO.
@jblyon2

They don't do that anymore. Know how they fixed the problem? They just stopped selling DSL service! They'll only offer either fiber based service, or ADSL2+, which has such a short range from the nearest ADSL2+ DSLAM (large ugly view-obstructing pole mounted box, usually illegally mounted to boot) that the service either works or it doesn't.
@MikeForce111
@MikeForce111 10 месяцев назад
I can attest from personal experience that AT&T range from being Mediocre to Downright Awful when it comes to customer service. The corporate greed, fixation on sales or upselling, and trying to nickel and dime customers with hidden fees and useless services is thru the roof. A few examples; One time in the early 2010's, at a house my family had, we realized we no longer needed a landline phone from AT&T (everyone had mobiles), so we called up customer service to cancel that service (we had a combined internet + landline phone plan for the house). When we got to a service rep, and told her we wanted to cancel the landline (but keep the internet service), the rep went into full-blown salesman mode and was actively trying to convince us we needed the landline service. We told her that we obviously didn't, because everyone in the household used mobile phones, and we already got rid of our landline phones in the house because they were redundant. Even so, she refused to listen and kept trying to "convince" us we needed to use the landline, this argument went on for 5 minutes straight. We had to repeatedly reiterate that it was useless, nobody was using a landline and there are no phones using it in the house. Finally, the rep seemed to relent, and then put us on a 45 min hold, saying that she "needed to talk to her superior," and so we waited. When the hold was up and she came back, she immediately requested we wait again, and put us on a 15 minute hold. After that, a different rep (probably the superior) came on and said that he will grant us our request, after we were stuck on the phone for a solid hour and 20 minutes, plus the unwelcome salesman attitude of refusing to listen to our request from the previous rep. At that time AT&T didn't offer any satisfaction surveys to rate for the service in that area, but that was definitely a 0/10. Fast forward to 2016, and at the same house, our family was in the process of moving out to sell the house, so we no longer needed any internet nor AT&T service at that place anymore. We called up AT&T customer service to cancel the internet and billing. We requested to cancel the service. The service rep tried to redirect us to not outright canceling the internet, but to instead put it on 'Inactive Status.' I had a feeling I knew where this was going, but I let the guy entertain me, so I asked for an explanation of what this Inactive Status is. He said that it's where our internet and service would be completely shut off, but we still get billed a portion of the normal bill so that the status "stays on the books" and so that the internet can be activated "without a hitch" in the event we want full service again. I told him that we were moving out of the house so we wouldn't need any service at all, and I told him I felt like the Inactive Status sounded like a dumb idea which was a waste of money. The rep went into salesman mode and "explained" that the Inactive Status was there so that in the event we wanted to reactivate internet with AT&T at that location we wouldn't be billed the full service activation fee as if a new account for internet was set up. I told him that was totally moot because we were moving out of the house and it would be sold to a completely different party. So the guy finally relented and canceled the service, but he still made it as inconvenient with his salesman attitude as possible, and it was borderline humorous seeing how much they were trying to sell useless services like that. AT&T, Masters of Peddling Worthless Telecomm Services.

When working as a mechanic at Precision Tune, a car pulled in for a routine oil change. As he pulled in, one could hear the brake noise. We offered a courtesy brake inspection. He agreed snd sure enough, he was due for a brake job. Customer declined. We informed him that while not unsafe at the moment, he did need to get the job done. He came back a few days later furious. "You tried to sell me an unnecessary brake job! I found the problem and fixed it myself! It was this piece of metal touching the rotor! I pried it back snd the problem is fixed!" We informed him that the next sound he would hear is an ugly grinding sound and we would be delighted to sell him new rotors and maybe even calipers.

Customer horror story part 2: The cus then reported us to the BAR. The inspector comes to us about trying to sell an unnecessary brake job. We explained what we found. The inspector then replied "Oh! Frustrated, the inspector shouted "You either tried to sell an unnecessary brake job or you released an unsafe vehicle! Pick your citation!"

Hey guys and gals, it’s not quite as simple as you think. What very likely happened was the innocent actual card owner contested the charge (rightfully) as they did not authorize it. So the bank reversed or undid the transaction, which pulled the funds back from the car wizard. It’s not a situation of the big bad bank taking a shot at the small business owner. They just reversed a transaction and explained to the car wizard what was going on. Now to give you an actual situation where a bank or credit card company ate a fraudulent transaction. Back in 2015 my wife and I drove from Florida to California to visit my niece. I’ll never forget my daughter calling and telling me that one of my credit card companies was trying to reach me. I called and found out they had received a call from someone who knew enough about me (personal information) for the bank to send them a new credit card, which they immediately used to go make two cash advance withdrawals of $500 each along with the customary $3.00 ATM fee totaling $1,006. The only way they were caught was I have never done a cash advance on a credit card and their transactions raised a red flag of potential fraud on the account. The bank did eat that one as the crooks got cash and disappeared. The real shame on my deal, was the police not doing a damn thing. They had an address where the new card was received via the USPS, but couldn’t take the time or energy to investigate. (I guess they had to go beat up some poor motorists for some nonsense). Yes I’m bitter still about the police lack of action or accountability. Hell if they told me that they had driven by and found the place vacant that would have been better than doing nothing

Yep. Buying property is filled with horror stories and during Covid it was worse because laws protected squatters, if news stories are truthful. Police often tossed up their hands and said it was a civil matter. Renting and buying often relies on the goodness of others. At my first house the seller stole most of the landscape, items listed in the sales pitch, light bulbs and ripping up fences (leaving most laying on the ground). Most likely because of the clause that said he'd have to pay rent if he stayed another 3 months after closing. I told my friend and he said it could be worse. When he moved in the guy had stolen the appliances, including central AC, the gazebo, 2 sheds, and stripped the shop of built-in equipment and wiring.

Why didn’t the bank write the check to Omega Auto for the $7,000? That was a huge mistake on their part.
@houseofno
@houseofno 2 года назад
Omega Auto Clinic is not name on title or loan. Also, it could indirectly assign responsibility for the truck or the loan if the truck owner defaults on the loan. OAC is NOT a cosigner on the loan. OAC is a service provider, and that's the extent of their connection to the vehicle. The bank correctly assigned responsibility for the $7,000 to the truck owner, not OAC. The bank added the $7k to the loan value on the truck, and likely adjusted the loan for the this.

Luckily I have not had to be in that position, but when we bought our 2nd home, we used some of our previous equity to pay a personal line of credit off. Did the bank right the check to us? Heck no. They wrote it and mailed it themselves to Discover. Your logic doesn’t make sense. It’s in the banks interest to get that vehicle fixed or they could be stuck in the situation they ended up in. By paying directly for repairs doesn’t change liability. The person with the truck signed papers that he is responsible for payment and defaulted. If he had had the repairs done and defaulted 3 months later, would they come after Omega because the majority of the $7,000 is still outstanding and is responsible for any ownership. No because Omega didn’t and wouldn’t have to sign any papers. The bank would pay them to have the needed repairs done. Simple.

Then, we can ask for help without becoming deceitful. Most people of good conscience will try to help each other, even if we find ourselves in a bad situation of our own making. It's called empathy. Got to Love the stories. My best is…..I worked at a Dodge dealer and back in 01 we were replacing engines because people were driving them through flooded streets (lots of rain in May of 01). Heard a lot of stories on why the engines were locked up! Best one was the guy that waited 6 months then brought it in for a no start. Pulled the air intake and found it loaded with water. Pulled the plugs and the cylinders were full. This guy parked it for 6 months thinking he Would be smart and get it covered under warranty. He got lucky and it must’ve been idling through the water because no damage was done. Just new plugs and oil change with a new air filter. Some people think other people are very stupid!

This is white privilege. If you have a business you can decide if you want to accept someone as a customer or not. There are single moms working 2 jobs where they don't get to choose how any of their interactions go. That actually came to mind when he was complaining about someone leaving the building he was about to rent a day before his contract started. That guy literally left on time. And the wizard literally said he doesn't care about his business but about his own. Now imagine that guy was trying to feed several children juggling part time jobs and gets thrown out without a friendly notice because he was trying to negotiate about the rent. And then the wizard shows up and just complains without having any business there because his rental contract didn't start yet. I'm not saying that's what happened at all, I'm just saying you can never show enough regard and empathy for others, unless they are factually and obviously trying to screw you over you should get out of peoples way without any comments.
@senorpepper3405

@@user-hr2zy7ct8h apparently the guy renting the building who we should empathize with told the owner that he wanted out anyways. threatened to take his business elsewhere. and it turned out he was lying the whole time. the worker said they had another building they were moving to. people will try to take advantage anyway possible.

@@senorpepper3405 Yeah I'm just saying the Wizard said he doesn't care about that guys business, but then he turns around and complains even though that guy left on time. I can't understand how it makes sense to say hey I don't care about your problems but why haven't you moved yet? If you don't want an answer, why are you even asking? Usually it doesn't speed up the process to urge people to hurry up. Maybe they left exactly on time just to piss the wizard off because he was being so fruity and concerned. I know this is kind of a rude thing to say. My point is if you don't care about someones' problems then don't talk about that person unless it's relevant, if you do care then at least try to show empathy and try to be understanding, don't just accuse someone of intentionally wronging you without knowing a thing about them and without caring to find out a thing about them. Otherwise your behavior is more rude than me judging you for it.

@user-hr2zy7ct8h 2 года назад
@@phillipbyrnes2885 I get that, but how does it make sense to say "I don't care" and then get alll up in someones' business. You can tell them to leave on time without being arrogant. For example you don't have to say "I don't care" you can say "I'm sorry I have my own business to take care of and that's my priority". I don't like dishonesty. He said he doesn't care but then he goes into details and questions the employees to find out things about that business. Doesn't make any sense. Sure it makes sense to show them no empathy so they won't try to take advantage of you, but you don't have to be cocky about it and you don't have to lie or say things that you clearly don't mean.

Fast forward to me seeing a Nissan Hardbody that was airbagged and I called the guy on Craigslist about it. He lived up in Port Angeles but agreed to need halfway, in Bramerton. Which was about a 2 hour drive. Mind you, I told the guy I had cash in hand and my trade as we agreed to it 100%. A friend and I drove my car up there and he was letting me know how far he was. My friend and I get there and I call him letting him know, he goes "I'm not trading you. I never left" and laughed about it. Feeling defeated, I said screw it and went home. A few times I've had deals fall through because the person sells it before I get there although we already agree on a price and I offer more than what their asking for. Oh well.

I was active duty AF (E-5) and was interested in becoming an Army Warrant officer. I swung by an Army recruiting center while on leave, showed them my ID, and after telling them not to BS me, I enquired on how to make the switch. The recruiter laid out the process, which according to them was, "Leave the AF, join the Army, do a year or two, and then put in your Warrant package." Long story short, after a lot of research I discovered that was all a big lie. There was a program in place (this was 2005, no idea if it still exists) that would have allowed me to put in a Warrant package while in the AF, and if accepted I could go to Warrant school. I am over simplifying the process, but that was the gist of it. As my enlistment was coming to an end, and I detested being lied to, I wisely resumed civilian status.

@@tylerbecker3348 yea renting sucks. Should really look into buying. When I bought my house a couple years ago I couldn’t believe the cost. I had been throwing away $800 a month for a little apartment, and my 1600 sq ft house with 5 acres was only $900 a month. Best decision I ever made to buy a house. Best part is that I have no owners to worry about!

You handled the renters of your new shop really well. If I had to box up someone else's stuff, I would have kept what I wanted an trash the rest. Good work!

I've driven through most of western Kansas while consulting in the power industry, and your final story about the shop purchase doesn't surprise me much. I've met a lot of great people along the way, some of them better-traveled than the average Denver one-party blue voter. But the stories I've picked up about the business environment are quite, shall we say, entertaining. Quite common for everyone in the business, government, and law-enforcement communities to know or be related to someone else in town, and then everything gets a bit slippery.

I completely agree. I also have experience with working with people from small towns in western Kansas. It’s very interesting at times to say the least. Everybody out there has dirt on each other.

i drove over the road for a year back in 2010 and would sometimes drive out of Harrisonville, mo south of kansas city delivering walmart groceries. we would deliver to salina, ks. whenever i walked through that Walmart everyone (it seemed) would stare. weirdest damn thing. i just remembered thinking, what's wrong with this town?

Love your channel Wizard. I was an 11B with the 82nd 1st/504th from 04-08. Ironically I’ve always bought my cars from this local lot in my small New England town where the owner is a fellow vet and he runs a program to give homeless and/or struggling vets temp work and job skills. I’ve never had any issues with any of my cars from there, he’s always given me excellent prices in relation to the average used selling price online and locally and even replaced the TD04 turbo in an 03 WRX I bought from him that blew my 4th month owning it free of charge. I’ve found that in any business dealing, if you’re a veteran who had a solid military bearing when you were enlisted, those values carry over into your civilian life. Particularly integrity. Also glad you didn’t get sucked into the Nasty Guard. During both of my deployments the most jacked up NCO’s I came across were from various Guard units, poor leadership and non existent unit cohesion.
