Crazy street piper I saw in Basel Switzerland during the Basel Tattoo 2010. Probably what I'd be doing if I had no job. UPDATE: The street performer in the video can be found here: myspace.com/ta... Great playing!
Agree, I discovered this video like 8 years ago and still watching it from time to time. I've watched all of his videos on YT and this show is one of the best. Thom is awesome and very tallented. I love his play. :D
Been scouring around youtube today without signing in....was about to switch off my computer then came across this vdo. I had to sign in to "like" this vdo. This guy is far from crazy. He's brilliant, amazing, natural, talented, gifted, passionate, dynamic....the list go on. Thanks for sharing this vdo :)
This is amazing! I saw this guy in 2012 in Bern during a Demonstration against the WEF. The police closed in to us before the protest could even begin and surrounded us for hours, letting nobody out. This guy got caught by chance with us and started to play for us and against the police. He played very well and with great solidarity. He renewed my faith in the struggle. I have a very nice memory from that day. Hope he is still playing for the oppressed people in some other parts of the world.
We saw him play when we were in Basel in 2016...he was so awesome, our 2yo daughter was dancing to his music and didn't want to leave, we ended up missing our tram and stayed for another song :-)
Utterly bloody FANTASTIC !!!! I wonder what he was smoking before he played his set ?. A very talented and wonderfully idiosyncratic piper. The look of bewilderment on the faces of two of the women passing by had me choking on my cup of tea !
To me it's the opposite well at least for this song but bagpipes is one of the most beautiful instruments it really touches someone's soul with the right song.
Coming from me (a man who mainly listens to music like Oceano or Emmure) this man is insanely talented and can carry a great tune. I hope he gets famous from this because he deserves it.
Brill....I agree.... One can close the eyes and almost imagine the terror of 1000 men marching toward oneself armed with spears and arrows and swords.... war is hell and heaven all at once.
+binthrdonthat Many people stop in Switzerland they also pay enough money. But you have to stand at the right spot. If you watch my video of this guy you will see that there are plenty of people standing and even dancing.
Thats too bad, I hear that certain people have migrated in such...large numbers to your country and. They are trying to make their culture everyone else's
it makes me very sad to hear bagpipes, considering what I've been through with them. My father was a cop who was killed when I was 7 months old, and two years ago we had a memorial service for fallen officers for my city, and the pipers played amazing grace... a song they played for his funeral service. But it's also nice to listen to them, because it's important never to forget the memorial. :)
Who cares about a dress code? I play the pipes and I will never wear a kilt. The pipes are a great and LOUD instrument. You dont have to wear the typical attire when playing. You're right. This guy is amazing
brilliant im 39 now been playing since i was 9.. this is the buzz and attitude we need to bring the fun into our national .. happy happy.. its what we are.. SCOTTISH X. lived in holland 10 yrs . played lots over there at new yr.. like ur style m8.. i'll play wi u.. drummer and were in the money. x fab.. my style.. played friends into church .. on schooby doo.. lol .. ok my bid is .. anyone wanna take the pipes to a new level..
Morrison was nowhere near this guy. non-pipers don't even understand what they are seeing and hearing. He's making notes I didn't even know you could make on the pipes. Amazing. And I will say he was improvising because I've never heard any of that music before.
He's not crazy, he's just excited! And who wouldn't be? Bagpipes light a fire in my heart, I would be dancing with bells too! (Though, admittedly, I al-ready do that...) :D
When I was a busker ( street musician) , I had some friends who would play the bagpipes and I used to tease them about why bagpipers were moving while playing on the street.. Well.... a moving target is not as easy to hit, he he he.. Met quite a bunch of very fine street artists and those years are among those I cherish a lot, along with the memories made then.
