I remember the first time I heard Icebreaker being fired. Nothing sounds so amazing and powerful.

I remember I got ice breaker when I was playing on a friends account. He never had it because and damn was it powerful. This was also during House of Wolves. So it was one of the few top tier exotics back then.

If the article was from before D2 vanilla launched, I doubt they would have seen a vendor from Forsaken. It was very likely just the name of an Exotic weapon. Looking through all of the vanilla exotics, my guess it was The Prospector, really just because of the name structure.

@@udontknowme00 Considering old D1 DLCs were remade into D2 DLCs and the Pyramidion was originally on Mars, Its not far fetched to think they had an idea for Drifter that far away from Forsaken and just never got to use him until Forsaken.

@@udontknowme00 Elsie/Stranger was suppose to be Osiris' robot helper, Crow was suppose to be a Guardian, and "The Witch" is very likely Savathun. So, why couldn't Drifter be "Magician"?

Pretty sure it could be something else unrelated to classes. However if I remember right back when I used to get Game Informer Magazines all the time around 2010 to 2015ish maybe, there was a magazine they had issued with an article related to Destiny 2 and a close look at a sort of preview when the game was first teased probably. In the article there were pictures of the Destiny 2 character selection and there was a fourth class called the Librarian and they didn't show much except that and the usually three classes we have now. Honestly it would make a lot of sense if they scrapped the idea just cause they eventually just incorporated the idea of Warlocks being Wizards, Mages, Librarians, etc. I looked to see if Game Informer still has the article up with the pictures and couldn't find anything so I would not be surprised if Bungie asked them to take it down. Only source of evidence would be to have the physical copy, but I think I got rid of most of my Magazines from GI.

I could totally see it being the Drifter, but my first guess was the Emissary. I just can't remember if they talked about Trials of the Nine before launch, let alone could have had a preview and changed the name so shortly before launch

Imo she could be talking to Ana, herself, or her Poulka from Neomuna. Or even a cloud strider haha

@@isaacfuqua7434 None of those things existed in D1. Ana was "dead" until the Warmind expansion retconned that she faked her death. Poukas werent introduced until Beyond Light which was years after the fact. The Exo Stranger was originally going to be Maya Sundaresh which is why she's so connected to the Vex and to Praedyth in the D1 No Time to Explain exotic quest. She was absolutely talking to Osiris.

Nah, that’s all kinda of trading systems. Having trading where you can only trade for 2h or so with the players you were playing with when you got the drop is a perfectly fine system

it actually started development way earlier than that back in 2004 as a plan B in case Halo 2 didnt work out very well, but evolved quickly into a much larger project. Staten & O'Donnell have mentioned that both of them began work on this around that time in conceptual writing & music.

I used to follow Destiny's development through Game Informer magazines when I was in elementary school. I'm now 20...

I'm so mad at myself for not figuring out how to actually play Destiny 1 when it came out.. I had only played FPS or sports game prior to that, so I wasn't familiar with how this game worked, with builds etc.. I played through a bit and said "This is it? There's no content" and quit until D2 beta came out.. then a couple years after that, I finally figured it out and realized the endgame is the content. I thought just the few story missions there were was _it_ ..

@yasininn76 sure but the fact remains that Neomuna used SIVA as a template for quicksilver so they're clearly familiar with it. For an advanced society like Neomuna SIVA could just be a thing of the past in a way past diseases are nothing to us now

The thing is we have grown so much in power that SIVA would just be a minor inconvenience to us. Like we deal with planet-ending threats once every few months and SIVA was barely able to take an abandoned fortress, unless it gets a major buff via braytech BS it won't really be a threat especially with neomuni tech and eliksni ingenuity on our side.

I could see that happen once the story finishes. Humans and faction sects start grabbing for power.

I remember being level 13 on venus just kinda doing whatever on patrol because at that point in the game it didn’t feel useless, then suddenly six guys spawned in and this absolutey crazy event went down with level 28 enemies (at the time I didn’t even know that was possible), minotaurs and the huge gate began glowing. Was enfatuated for years. Then y1d2 rolled around and killed that for a bit lol.

The physical map isn't what takes space on your hard drive it's all the textures and assets that have to be in there in the first place because the dreaming city exists

​@@Dredgeon Yep. There's games with much more sheer data than in Destiny, but are able to manage the file size. File size is just an excuse for them to remove old content and increase sales on new DLCs.

Blizzard gave them the advice after Diablo 3 came out and during Destiny's development. They had fixed the game so well they were considered the go-to for advice on live-service in that time. Crazy to admit that these days.

WOW was also made for Blizzard, has the trading mechanic and theres a lot of people who made that their long term job, warframe also has it, trading works pretty good and it give people the opportunity of getting money out of their effor playing while not neccesary being a 200k+ sub youtuber

No... what devastated D3 economy was the fact that their drop rates were so atrocious to the point that the vast majority of their players finished their first playthrough with only BLUE gear because that's all that would drop. So they essentially were forced to use the auction house if they desperately needed to increase their damage. Had the game launched with what the current drop rates are, then the impact of an auction house real money or not wouldn't have been anywhere near as substantial as it was.

Actually at the point of Rise of Irons development, Rasputin was solely on Earth, and he was the Last of Equal-Power Warminds on every planet of the system. While they all fought and died against the Darkness (as it were at the time) Rasputin just went dormant in an effort to survive and maybe have the Darkness give Earth a wide berth.

Later on in D2 when the Felwinter's Lie lore dropped it was retconned (feels like the wrong use of that word when it was more of a recontextualization of what we saw in RoI, but whatever lol). @@JeffreyMcLain what’s sad is that very early D1 Grimoire Cards for Rasputin hinted at us discovering the other Warminds, like Charlemagne, and reviving them, eventually rebuilding their network of protection across the System. I’ve heard that lots of elements of the early D1 Grimoire was lots of lore that Joseph Staten wrote, meaning this was his original intention with the Warminds… too bad. That sounded awesome

Technically siva isn't off (I haven't yet played the Raid in D1 so don't quote me) but as per last campaign mission of ROI, we just destroyed the replication chamber so they can't produce more. BUT, they can still control it. The devils are no more but siva is still very much alive and out there

Oh yeah that... honestly that's ironic considering how much the writers they got for destiny 2. done a messy job at storytelling. Removing the factions instead of expanding on them was a bad decision on it's own, but the way the writers handled their departure was just terrible. Oh yeah make the FWC the butt of an incredibly shallow racisim is bad message. Also of course the moment they try portraying the fallen as sympathetic from beyond light, and on wards. They suddenly start talking, and acting like "regular" people. Which honestly kind of ruins the the message, as well as just incredibly jarring compared to variks, or even the spider

@@grailw9221 I think there was a tone shift from 1 to 2. One has a very alien, mystical, science fiction feel. Two has an action adventure, fantasy, human feel. Both are good in their own way. But I do miss destiny 1.

Yeah even if it was just a limited way of sharing currency, like ascendant shards and stuff. Let people donate materials to a shared pool, maybe only let them donate one per week or something.

id like the system from division games where you could "share" an item that dropped w ppl in your activity for a limited time

​@9ballciety yea the division system could work imo. That way you could only trade with the same people who ran that activity with you and only for set amount of time. This would eliminate a black market.

@@Subsistence69 Yep, they definitely didn't think this through for the long-term. In early Destiny development, it was designed to be a box product with some more major DLCs, then onto the next box product. It wasn't designed with what we have now in mind and definitely was not supposed to be what we currently think of as live service.

Even though I was like 12 when it happened I remember alot of the Halo community questioning if Bungie was still Bungie with so many great people leaving. Staten and Marty being axed were the biggest blows to the series still being felt to this day. I really implore fans to read Jason Schreier's Blood, Sweat and pixels which covered alot of Destiny's turbulent beginning, The shaking up of content and story is really a testament to how volatile Destiny's development has been, Its genuinely insane that it's managed to keep getting back up and going to the ten year finish line it set out with in mind.

Staten wrote excellent stories for Bungie in the Halo series, should of just let him flesh the high level story and then the team weave the story in between. I would still love to play the OG story as a “Staten’s” cut or something.

That'd be a fine concession. It doesn't have to be a trading system tied to currency or materials or anything like that to create an economy. Even though I think that would be ideal, as some people have more resources than loot and others have vice versa. But just being able to say "I have this awesome rolled gun that I don't need. I want THIS thing instead, anyone got one. You do? Cool, let's exchange. Perfect, thanks" would make "having awesome luck" continue to be valuable long after you have every good thing in the game.

People would just make a third party website to purchase those items with real money instead.. this isn't like other mmos, and people who pretend its not an issue in other games are delusional other mmos its very much an issue lost ark gold economy ruined the botting is horrendous, path of exile is especially bad overly complex and very messy, diablo 2s was almost entirely third party real money same for d2r, csgo/2 became that way horrendously so. D4s upgraded trade system shouldn't be too bad due to how loot works, and uniques and such cannot be traded which helps. So a real world economy shouldn't exist or be very minimal. Regardless it just wouldn't have worked, while you could trade good rolls for good rolls, you can just use a third party website and spend real money to purchase the item instead which is a mess and a half

I really wish they would do that because of the extreme bad luck protection like they're bad luck protection is "complete challenges and still hope RNG works" because man I have been on both sides of it in destiny 1 I ran vault of Glass 52 times before I got my vex mythoclast, and then I was playing with a guy in last wish and he had ran that raid 60 times and I was doing it for my first time I got it and I never seen him online again, And another thing I wish you could do is just have like a reclamation center for armor that you don't need because I made a new account in order to try some things out on that side and holy shit I hate the armor grind but when you're at the top you get so much gear that's just okay for you but would be great for everyone else who isn't there I would love for there to be a place where I could just dump that stuff so that way the beginners can just pick it up and use it.

It would be nice to be able to "gift" certain things.. not actually trading, to prevent all of the downsides of trading but something else..

I definitely could've used the trading during Scourge of the past runs with friends. We ran it for hours when it was farmable trying to get one of my friends Anarchy. I had already had it for a while at that point, and I got 3 in a row while we were trying to help him. I was hoping to get a Threat Level shotgun. He kept getting Threat Level and I kept getting Anarchies lolol. I understand how it would've been sketch for the game economy though.

Nah it just needs to be better rng for each raid clear you’ve done if you haven’t gotten the exotic yet or doing the challenges should increase the rate it should drop for u. That loot sharing bs is not needed. Best thing about destiny is getting that exotic to drop or inspecting your gun n seeing u got a godroll. And fashion too.

@@raekwonchambers2297 at the very least they need better bad luck protection, because someone should not do a raid 50 times and then not get the weapon at the end even if they haven't done the challenges to increase the rate, I think trading could be a good idea because it would never be as broken as you would think but it wouldn't be as useless as it could be, like you would have people like me if you could just put a list of shit out there just putting they're pretty good armor out there for people to just grab if they needed it because I have made a new account and I understand the start of the game if you're playing by yourself without the seasonal content is going to really suck (unless the solstice event is around because then you get high stat gear really easy) I think that would be a pretty cool thing to do, And it would be nice to have an equal trading system at the very least because the amount of times that I've gotten God roll weapons for things that I don't like using mainly because of how bad my hands are now versus getting the weapons I can use is incredible (the high accuracy weapons like hand cannons and snipers I can't really use anymore because I have some issues with my hands in particular) I would love to be able to give a god roll igneous Hammer to someone who could actually use it, and I would also love if I could get back a really good summoner doesn't even have to be a god roll because I haven't had any luck with the summoner, (and just in case you're one of the PVP people who assume. I'm not super interested in the percentile stuff so I don't check my trials report but the last time a friend of mine talked about me even with my bad hands I'm still in the 96th percentile apparently, I hover around a 1.7 on a low end to a 2.4 k/d on the high end these days and the reason for the variance is my hands hurt a lot on some days more than others) But yeah I would love to be able to trade God roll weapons that I can't really use consistently anymore, for things that I can use more often without causing myself more pain.

Never understood people's obsession for a SIVA subclass. That's like saying a tv should be a subclass; it's just a thing made by humans. What _would_ make sense tho is to simply make SIVA weapons/armor. Perhaps give the guns an origin trait similar to Outbreak's perks. Will probably be what happens whenever they decide to bring back WotM raid.

I mean, SIVA being just nano could make it a kinetic subclass... Which I would prefer over a third darkness next. (Tho ofc I think we should still get a third darkness one too, eventually)

Yup. Diablo 3 has it the exact same way, and as much as I'm in full support of trading, if a dev team wants to encourage groups to farm together but want to avoid an in-game economy, THIS is the perfect concession. Imagine doing a Destiny raid, and your friend gets the exotic drop, but you didn't, and you still need it. You did the activity, your drop rate just sucks, you were present WHEN one dropped...why can't your friend just give it to you? Why is the assumed behavior "run the raid another 50 times until it drops, git gud lol newb." That's horrible.

Would be sick man done perfect for sure. Clan raid runs would mean more as well.

Think it has more to do with RoI being more of a 'black eye' to Bungie in terms of development being so good and so fun and with such a small team making it.... almost like it shows up how inept the management is at Bungie.

You can really tell that it was a different team working on it because I would not be surprised if one reason it came out as good as it did was because of Activision in the two other studios helping like genuinely, It had good ideas it did a good thing it also was a standalone story that didn't completely incorporate itself but it fleshed out some backstory but man I really wish they would do more with it just because of how much I love the raid.

Point is we had taken king last year because 'but it's the hive expansion that makes sense!' during a fallen season when wrath would have been appropriate....and then we got crota during a hive season....when this expansion was literally dripping with Siva.... Make it make sense..

What's not being said here isn't that BLIZZARD consulted with Bungie...specifically, the Diablo 3 team...which, of course they downplayed "trading" as a problem, they implemented a really terrible auction house whose problems were only exacerbated by even worse drop rates AND terrible itemization. If drop rates and itemization were better, barely anyone would have NEEDED the AH, but because those things sucked, players needed the AH (and used the Real Money AH) to circumvent the game being terrible. But Destiny players latch onto the worst explanations about these things, it's really intolerable.

The question implies if it flops he will not buy it, but IF he does intend to buy the expansion regardless of the reviews then it would absolutely make more sense to pre-order so he can pre-download and focus on playing. I cannot reasonably come up with a rationale why he needs to see reviews if he intends to play the game regardless, however if he does indeed have that mentality it would make more sense to pre-order. This is a long-winded way to say I dislike the use of absolutes.

And its even funnier cuz this is like a last ditch effort before they die XDDDDD still gonna say 100$ or 80$ less is still... well, too much.

@@hunterwolf5482Ok. I haven’t preordered a game in a long time. Actually I did with Resident Evil 4 remake, which turned out to be phenomenal. But as far as Destiny, I’ve been playing since D1 Beta, but have taken breaks from it. I just bought the Witchqueen last year for $20 after it got tons of great reviews. I didn’t purchase light fall yet because it got a lot of mixed reviews. So maybe I’ll get it when it’s cheap, just for the the Strand builds. Right now Bungie wants $100 for the The Final Shape plus annual pass. Some things are Hidden behind pay walls. The newer dungeons, and I can’t do Nightfalls or Trials unless if I pay for light fall with the annual pass. I’m just like damn, I remember when dungeons, Nightfalls and Trials were free to play as long as you owned the game 😅

Imagine what the game would of been like had Jones actually said okay, and helped coach and build the story around Staten’s ideas… big missed opportunity imo

The Galaxy Pools are called 'The Forge' in the files make of that what you will
