Chuanyun Li is a genius, it's all pure talent, even when he takes his playing to his limits, his improvisation is mindblowing (watch his Paganini Caprice no. 24) and he utilizes an unbelievable amount of technique, his intonation is always right, he's just experimenting and having fun. It sometimes sounds harsh to the ears but honestly, he hit the cap of regular violin playing at a young age. Like in 1991 at like the age of 11 when he won first prize in the Fifth Wieniawski International Youth Violin Competition (by the unanimous vote of 20 judges from 11 countries), he was the youngest prizewinner under 16, he's so advanced it's unbelieveable. Honestly, since then he's been discovering more about music and he's just so frickin progressed that we can't comprehend it. At this point, he's just having fun with the violin and improvising becuase he can already play everything.
If he had stayed at the level of his 1991 wieniawsky competition, he would be a well appreciated violinist. but nowadays with all this crazy behavior he will be known only for his stupid things which demolish beautiful compositions. nigel kennedy was also a weird violinist, but he respected the written compositions. at least most of them. only the four seasons he changed a little bit.
About 5 minutes in, he plays with the bow upside down over the instrument, with all 4 strings are played at once, so he has to "compose" and finger accordingly. What a rock star!
Really good, huh? That really cracked me up! And the little girl next to me was laughing her heart out at that piece! His facial expression was precious.
greateful, fantastic, without limits, joy of live, real fantasy, Jimi Hendrix of Violin, but with a lot of humour!!! thanks, something of the most marvellous I've seen for a long time!
That's some amazing talent! I admit I was afraid for my life (and his as well) during the first 2 minutes- some crazy fireworks and expressions. My parents always said the best musicians are the craziest people... guess I need to take more crazy pills to get better myself! Anyways, thanks for posting this- pretty cool to see a world-class violinist off-stage.
its talent.....pure talent....he is as always amazing......he always doubles or even triples the normal tempo of the song!!and even he going so fast his bow is always parallel to the bridge and fingerboard!!i cant do that even n the normal tempo!!!he does it like allegretto presto!!!
@@TheAnonyy There are some videos in chinese of him reflecting on his career and breakdown. I think he teaches now. I am not sure. What happens in china stays in china...
He is very skilled, although I'm not sure I like the music he played for the first few minutes. His playing style is fun to watch. I wonder how long he has been playing.
No cowboy who beat the devil could beat this fella! HAHA! This is guy's too good for his own good. Wonder why I haven't heard of this fella. This guy's great!
The music he played at the very beginning is from the movie "the violin", the rest I'm not sure. Then there is the butterfly lover concerto. Then the rest, I don't know.
Does a crazy yet superior genius have to submit to the “norm” set by the mediocre audience? Of course you can dislike him for “ruining” the music of your favorite musicians, it’s all about personal preference. But saying it’s shit? Seriously? If you and him can meet your favorite musicians at the same time, it’s pretty clear to them that who’s the genius they adore and who’s shit.
Madness!!! He said, at 1:58: Heaven is whirling, this is like boxing, be aggressive when when you are showing off... It seems its played for fun in a small friends party, series of different tunes. He is a true prodigy.
