I have always loved the power in Gingers drumming on this track. It just builds and builds just like the guitar and explodes into a full blown riot in the second solo.
This is the best drum cover to this song on RU-vid. Most other covers are overdone. Well done. I'm using your video to learn the song because it's so true to the original. Thanks for sharing.
Ginger was a crazy fucker, a race horse lover, a jazz drummer... in a rock band. When I was a teen, Cream was was of THE bands. And as a drummer, Ginger was one you HAD to be able to cover. I was playing "White Room" in 6th. grade.
@@shormanka I took lessons in my early teens from a big band drummer in Brooklyn Dick Bennett. It was mainly for hand development & swing independence. We went thru drum books Stick Control, Wilcoxon's 150 solos, Ted Reed's Syncopation, Jim Chapin's Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer.
@@JoeNocella seems like Carmine Appice was Dick Bennett's student too:) He must have been the go to guy back than. I am now also studying from Appacie's realistic rock book :)
Great cover. I'm trying to learn this song, and I'm having a hard time figuring out where the "one" is. In the beginning, is the open HH hit on the one, or on the 4and? And how about the final verse? Does it change there, or same thing? Please help out a poor confused fellow drummer, thanks!
It comes in right on the downbeat which is "one". I missed it here because I couldn't see when the recording started. The snare is being played on every quarter note "1-2-3-4" during the verses. It changes during the guitar solos to a typical rock beat with snare on "2" and "4" with a little double bass drum thrown in. Then on the last verse "You can run, you can run", it changes back to snare on every quarter note - "1-2-3-4". Hope this helps..
Hi, can You help with play-along tracks? Send mp3's to me? Or give the link where I can buy or free download them. I need all minus track You have already played (not Cream Crossroads only). Thanks Nice interpretations!
+dennisdrums I play over the drums on all of my videos except one. If you are looking for music minus drums, you can find a bunch on youtube or various web-sites.
Alright, double bass. Good job on this song. You play so smooth. That's good to keep the beat. I just recorded the song Maybellene with SayakaAlessandra. I think we should be a duet together, but she lives in Sicily and I'm in California. Check us out. It's my featured video right now. Take care.
In reference to your statement about Ginger Baker and "rock drumming", Ginger Baker is not a rock drummer. BTW excellent cover, especially the part where you scratch your nose.
Is it wrong to play the bass drum opposite of what you do? On every "and" beat and add the "one"? This is what i mean bass drum beat on everything in quotation marks. "One" "and" two "and" three "and" four "and" - repeat
