In order to sell KDP low content and medium content books on Amazon it is important to have great looking book covers to attract a customer’s attention. In this video I look at using MidJourney to create AI generated tiles that can be used to create patterns to use on book covers and also on the interiors of books. These AI generated tiles are imported into Canva to create the cover and interior, which is free and easy to use software. I give some examples of AI prompts to create some really interesting and stunning looking patterns as a starting point for you to explore your own creativity. KDP low content and medium content books are a great way to start an online business and possibly even create a longer term passive income.

Thanks for the video and info. You can always put a custom aspect ratio to the V5 midjourney. So in that instance you do not have to cut out any of the design to fit the cover. i.e. for a 8.5 -11 inch book, you can add at the end of the prompt to the AI the followin ( just ass space after the prompt) --ar 85:110 And there you got the image created tot he aspec tratio of that book.. ect. ect.

Great information. I found it all very valuable and am having fun trying out different variations of these prompts in MidJourney. I was over the moon, though, about how you were able to take the pattern into Cava, use the filter to make it grayscale, transparency to tweak it and add lines. Probably the best way is to convert it into a vector image. For the best result, you would probably want to use Adobe Illustrator and its image trace finction.

You can import an image into MidJourney and then create an image based on that. It might be also worth looking at leonardo.ai which, from what I've seen, may be better at creating images of yourself.

I know that with the paid plan we have a commercial license, but it's not exclusive, and anyone can take our images and use them. The risk of finding duplicated books, even if we were the first to create the image, exists and Amazon could close our account. How did you solve the issue? Thank you.

I asked that question because I read the license and terms of use of MidJourney, and it clearly states that all images produced (including those generated privately) are not exclusive in any way. The company itself can take them, advertise them, and use them. I know there is a commercial license, but Amazon KDP even creates problems with Canva images, often...

@@angelapresciuttini8155 Yes all true but with the millions of images produced daily via MidJourney, the chances of someone using your images are very slim and even slimmer that it’ll cause issues down the line. I’m not worried about it at all.

I think, as long as you have the paid version of Midjourney (or Kittle, etc) for the licence for commercial use, you essentially use the image you’ve created as an element within your overall POD design, but then also ensure you also alter it by making it your own by applying added elements and filters (Paul showed examples of these later in his video). I also note Paul didn’t use any templates or Canva elements, he created his own design using his own elements. While he used an AI generated element that he’d have a commercial licence to use, combined with text, lines, filters to create an original design, it seems to me that it covers the rules for commercial use.

I think its important to note that the midjourney tos of "Rights you give to midjourney" is pretty standard on all social media platforms where you upload things or provide user generated content. They legally need you to grant that nonexclusive sublicense to run it through the bot and to hold the image files/inputs on their site. Its not necessarily a nonexclusive copyright. Their section of "Your rights" clearly states that you own all assets you create and those creations remain the property of the original creator. You cant just upscale someone elses prompt and claim it as yours - its still the original creators. The confusion kicks in when observing copyright law - which is currently in the state of "human authorship only." Which then gets confusing when people start manipulating the image and giving it a use case. Because this area of IP law is so new and there have not been any court cases to set a precedent on how much editing determines "enough human input" im treating all ai generated images as public domain images. Following the Copyright process for the literary work and/or compilation, not the original photos.

If I understand your question, it's about what stops people from stealing your image if you don't own the copyright. The same thing can happen if you use an image you bought off Adobe stock images. Other people could buy the same image and copy your cover. Or use an image you've bought off creative fabrica or vecteezy. Anyone can copy your book if they really wanted to. If it were to happen, Amazon knows which book was published first so, if anything, they would penalize the later books for duplicate copies and not yours.

When you see an AI generated image they all have that look. Regardless of how you use the prompt they all have that look that they were generated. How can the prompt be changed to not get that generated look?

It depends what look you are wanted to remove. There are many videos and blog posts on creating prompts. My advice would just be to experiment, especially with different styles, and see if something comes out that you like.

Just curious are you aware of the copyright laws for AI, US passed laws recent as 12 days ago, one will have to alter the images just like using other images ie Vecteezy, Canva etc. Gauging KDP has already been notified but more so important to followup on if anyone is promoting to use AI images for self publishing and more copyright laws for AI is coming...so unless you paid for the image for dist like say shutterstock it is not yours.
