This video illustrates how to create an automatic bibliography and reference/citation system in Microsoft Word. We will cover how to properly build a list of references in a dedicated .xml file that can be used by all your Microsoft Word documents. On a related note, we also show how to use Google Scholar to find citations to other documents.

I used Endnote for my dissertation but it has gotten pricey over the years. I will make the switch to Microsoft word, but I guess it's going to be cut-and-paste for some of those Endnote references. Extremely helpful video. Thank you!

Thanks for the video! I've found Zotero useful - it avoids having to enter all the source information manually, and its Word plugin seems similar in terms of automatic referencing and bibliographies. I haven't used Word's built-in source manager before - it will be good to know about as well.

I would like to create an excel document with the xml structure that used Word software, to introduce manually my own data and export to a new XML. It is possible in an automated way?

One question, please: I have a word file (.docx) inside which you can jump from the citation number in the article text to the Bibliography if you press Ctrl-Click on the number. I wasn't able to replicate this, although I used References functionality just like you say above. Do you know how to do this ? Thank you.
