This technique is called Camera Mapping, aka taking a photo and projecting it onto a 3D map from the camera's perspective.

Good one! Probably the grey lines appear because the planes need to be a bit overlapped. I will try that out once I can.

id like a tutorial of the animation from the intro at 0:39 that would be awesome

used to play with a similar effect using the vanishing points in ps and after effects. It works great when there is a hard seam like an alley or hallway.

Kinda like parallax in after effects. Dope tutorial.

try using a dark background behind the 3d layer to get rid of them lines. that helps when getting transparency bugs with glas rendering :)

You are right that is a cool effect. I'll bet if you don't delete your cropped pixels, when you need more panning headroom you should have it then. Did that make any sense? Perspective is something I knew about but never use. Thanks

I'm not getting the 3d menu after pressing ok when sending 3d to photoshop. I read comments to see if there was a solution. I've tried four different very high rez pictures and I'm still not getting the dialog box and camera options you are getting after pressing ok. Any other suggestions? Will this work with any file format? jpg for example?

Hey, Can you give the direct download link of the image(HD IMAGE) you have used in your video? Because I am not getting that image on the page whose link you have provided in the description.

where this finds some aplication was if you got some scene where your actor layer demands some movement but since he is on a greenscreen and your backround show was done some time ago so you cant go back and film it again to get the camera movement in as well you can nudge this in the right direction of the camera that filmed the actor to make the surrounding fit the rest of the movment game of thrones for example does it alot while in the past with series like startrek they just used stil images mostly drawn in oil or something to create or establish a place where the next scene was about to take place like an alian planet or something in game of thrones they use it on actual scenes and extend scene this way. in the earlyer series they actualy build alot in lets say real 3d as object textured rendered in a 3d software but as the budged shrinked over time in season 4-5 they start using this effect more and more if you know what you are looking for and you had some tests with your own images you can spot theese transformation. of course there is no substitude for real 3d but if you are on a clock and have to come up with some great results in a timeframe no one ever will belive you did it .. this is the way to go :) dont ever tell your client you did that in 5 minutes :P
