Wow, great tutorial and an awesome result! 😊 The only thing I would have made differently: in your mask setup, it is somewhat unnecessary to increase the To Max value of the Map Range node, because the Float Curve only works on the 0 to 1 range and everything above 1 will be cut off. So instead I would leave To Max at 1 and decrease the From Max value to something lower than 1. For my intuition it would also make more sense, if I want to get a narrower mask then I would rather tend to decrease a value instead of increasing a value. But that's just nit-picking 😉
Nice one Nino! Saved this one to my collections of neat tuts, thx for that. ♥♥♥ The only thing I was thinking is that you don't have one more detail within this node setup, and it is about bump under the skin without actual puncture. I mean, when you can see the silhouette of some part of the hand, but it is still behind the skin, like covered by the face's skin, you know? It would be great to see that level of approach, when the finger sticks out far enough from the face's skin surface - it just puncture it and you can see your effect. And then if the finger for instance is folded (as you might see in the movie) and goes not super far but just a bit out from the skin so you can already see a corresponding bump within this folded finger silhouette, but without actual puncture. I think you got the idea. My guess is it should be made with distance kind of node setup, where you specify what distance is for the bump effect, where it's not yet puncturing the surface, and what distance is good for your puncturing effect.
