If I do this with powerpoint do you suggest I store all of the "snippets" in a module(maybe commented out) rather than an excel file? At the moment I'm having my powerpoint get the snippets from a an excel file seems very messy. Or is there a way to embed a spreadsheet into a vba perhaps as an ActiveX control? I guess there might be. It is a lot more convenient to be able to use the spreadsheet cell addresses.

Yes you can! for access store code in table. Save file as add-in and have the code run on load. .mde or .accde for access .xla or .xlam for Excel
