Once again thanks for all you do for us.. Just a note, I had this as my default value table level: ="XYZ-" & Format(Int(Rnd()*10000),"00000") Do you believe I actually had dups ! A few times.... Than how you explain the people react when confronted by an error like " HUH? what ?" ya well, that was me! I figured that big of a number, should certainly be ok.. ya, Nope! So once again I had to implement what you suggest, add time to change it up.... Its getting a lil old YOU being right all the time.... :) Thanks again.. You Rock!

I want to add customer code field in the table. The format that I want to use to create a customer code is [YYYYMMDD]+[sequence number of customer]. For example, [20210930]+[C101] = 20210930C101. I watched your video and liked the way it assigns random number for customer code. I want to use sequential number instead to make it simple for accounting. By doing this I will also be able to check company performance as well. Thanks for your help in advance.

Dear Richard, when I put in the Format(Now) in de Default Value of the CustumerCode field I have to put in a semicolon ; instead of a comma, Can you explain that? I recently changed the language in Office 365 from Dutch to English (UK). Could that be the reason?

Hello, I am trying to generate a automatic proposal number, I used your video to set this up, but can't seem to set it up in a form to never create a duplicate. When I use your sequential numbering teaching I get run time error '13' type mismatch. Not sure how to fix this

Hello Richard! Thank you for this great video and the other Tech help videos are much appreciated as well. I am able to get this random number system working, whenever I enter data from a Form I keep getting an error saying that I am creating duplicate records. After a couple of Form refreshes the number becomes unique and then it allows me to add the data. Every time I restart the application, I can't get this to work without a couple of refreshes so the ID number becomes a random unique value. I tried playing around with the "Fetch Defaults" as well but to no luck. What am I missing here? Many thanks in advance.
