I'll try to release a video talking about this more but for clarification, what do you mean by "BFS". I am familiar with "LUFS" and "RMS" but just want to make sure I know what scale you are working on. I often recommend to record at an average of -20 LUFS and to use a limiter with a ceiling of -2db (meaning you have a hard limit at -2 so you are not in danger of distorting). A general rule of thumb to to record on the louder side because "under-recording" can cause noise issues when you increase the volume later.
