☀️☀️☀️I feel terrified when I realized I've attracted some people who don't love themselves, some negative people. Why I attract them, because I want to control them, I want them to do something for me. But it turns out that it is not what I really want. What I really want is to see them be authentic, be positive and be relaxed. I don't want them to treat me as a target. I don't want them to eat me. I don't want them to think I'm easy. I don't want to attract wolves. I don't want criminal and anyone who don't love themselves to close to me. I want to see bad people become good people. I'm looking forward to bad people no longer restrain themselves in a dark corner. I wish they are not harmful to the society. 🕯(if they can learn self love, that would not be wishful thinking)

Take note kids: don't eat your vegetables, don't do your homework, don't brush your teeth. Just say no and make space for the things YOU want to do. Stop going to school and just eat cookies and play video games all day. Follow your passion. Your life will turn out great.

That was a little dramatic. Certainly you really knew that she’s not talking about every day responsibilities? Hopefully you were just trying to be “cute” and aren’t really not that oblivious

A little hyperbole was necessary to illustrate the point that sometimes doing things that we object to, even at the behest of someone else, is in our own best interest. And yes, part of what she's referring to is everyday responsibilities, like familial or occupational responsibilities. Sometimes we do need to sacrifice our self-interest for the interest of others. What do you think she's referring to? Choice of toppings on pizza? What Netflix show to watch with your friend? Even then, compromise is advisable. This message might be good advice for pathological approval seekers and people-pleasers, but it has high appeal to pathological self-pleasers and I have too often seen this "self-love" ideology invoked to rationalize expedient selfishness and disregard for others' needs and rights. And why not? This is framed in very ambiguous yet absolutist terms. It can easily be construed as a rejection of accountability, and often is. Your comment also fails to delineate the role of responsibility vs. self indulgence; you just insult me for disagreeing.@@MsIniquity

That's not what she is saying, it is your interpretation of it. Her work is about being more authentic and honest in relationships and taking care of yourself (saying no to the things that aren't good for you) so that you're happier and healthier. In other videos she talks about how that actually helps with all the responsibilites in life (doing for others), because you have more energy... And yes she educates a specific group of people who tend to be people pleasers and constantly deplete themselves because that's who she used to be before her near death experience.

I know her story. I have her books. I understand her message, but I disagree, at least in the sense that it can be applied categorically. I have grown skeptical because I have seen this message of "self-love" and "establishing boundaries" echoed by so many narcissistic people to rationalize selfish behaviors and deny accountability. I know that's not her intention, or her personality. Nevertheless, I'm not sure that this message is having a positive effect on the world. You echo the sentiment about "saying no to the things that aren't good for you". I offered the facetious comment about how a child might interpret that because, even as adults, people often don't know what's good for them. We all too often mistake what is expedient or immediately gratifying for what is actually good, much like children do. All philosophies and ideologies have benevolent intentions; Not all of them have positive impacts. I don't see a strong correlation between putting yourself first an being "healthier and happier". This message has become the new age orthodoxy that no one is allowed to challenge. @@Sandromeda.
