In this video, I have used MTREE add-on to create trees.
I have used hand-painted texture for stylized look. Also created final tree object ready to be exported as FBX.

This look really awesome, great job man! But as others already mentioned, its not working with 3.2 or 3.1. Any chance you release a verison for other than 3.0?

It doesn't work on mac for some reason, the check mark is grayed out. Any tips? Thank you.

I installed the add-on in my preferences, but for some reason I can't check the box to turn it on. Any advice on fix? This looks like such an awesome and useful tool, your tutorials have helped me with a lot of projects :) big ups!

It works with B3.0 version .. try on that

Thanks so much. Did I miss the polygon count onscreen? I may have. Really appreciate it. Not sure why trees are so hard for this newbie.

1st of all. Thank you for this good tutorial. but I have trouble here. When I apply Make instances real. then All instance twigs turn into a tree. I really can't figure out what is going on.

I had the same issue too until I change my Blender version to v3.0.1 the problem solved itself. If you download from Steam, you go Properties > Betas > Select Version > v3.0 - Stable then the Steam will automatically update your current Blender version into the selected one. I hope this helps :)
