In this video, I took a 2016 Newport, and had a ton of custom work done to it. I love the look of Scotties Tour putters, but dropping $1000s on a putter is not something I'm willing to do. So I created the closest design I could minus the actual Circle T logos. And I love it!

You are so close to getting this perfect. What I do is preserve the shine of the bombs by protecting them with a dab of hot glue. During blasting it is preserved. Then instead of paint fill I use a machinist dye called Dykem. Scotty did the same thing back in the day. It really looks awesome and pays homage to Tigers beautiful red cherry bomb.
@igolf906
@igolf906 Год назад
That's a good idea! But I don't see Dykem being very durable, but I guess you never know. Also, the Tamiya translucent paints I'm using I'm pretty sure are nearly identical to the ones Scotty uses. May do a classic red one in the future.

@gabrielnevala3987 sorry. I responded thinking it was to a different video. But yes you should be able to bring the dots back to a silver polish. Never really had to do that so im not 100%. As long as you're using a soft buffing wheel and some compound I don't see why not

@igolf906

It's pure acetone. Can get it at nearly any hardware store. It's a strong solvent that eats away at paints and adhesives. But won't touch your NP. As long as it's factory and doesn't have some type of aftermarket finish. But even then, usually it's safe.

@rdalmasso7326 The Fastbacks with the one piece sole and insert I've never seen replacements for. And as far as dying. They're aluminum so the best you could do is get the black aluminum dye. Otherwise Cerakote but that's an entire process and will be costly.

First off great job on this putter! It turned out great! Question? The initial weight I would presume is around 350g, what is the final weight after the re milling and sanding?
@igolf906
@igolf906 Год назад
Thank you! Most Newports come out to between 340 & 350 grams with the weights. All depends on the shaft length that's ordered for what weights you receive. But I weighed my head afterwards and without the weights was 318. I had two 10 gram weights so my total is 338 grams. I could add heavier weights to bring it back to around 340-350 but I actually prefer a slightly lighter head. I might even try out some 5 gram weights.

I refurbed my friends scotty. It was the first time I tried a full restore. 2 days later the pitting left on bottom developed rust. If it was stainless steel it would not rust like that correct? I'm assuming is a fake scotty
@citallaerial2652
@citallaerial2652 4 месяца назад
The first thing that comes to mind is what was the final grit used during your refurbishing? If it wasn’t very high, say 2000 grit, you could have left very fine scratches that allows moisture to accumulate. All metal will rust but you can control the rate via your process.

My Brother. Please please please purchase a small linishing belt sander. It will allow you to smooth sand the bottom without the awful gouges and hollows left behind by your cheer arse grinding wheel. Please try it once. Also a cheap bench mounted disc sander will raise your finish level to Pro. Please try it. You will love it. I promise.

On no restore I've ever done has my convolute wheel left gouges. Not sure what your speaking to. And I've had a custom made 2x72 belt sander before. As it would be a little useful at times, it's not needed. The convolute wheels I use are soft. From 220 to 600 grit.
