Great plugin and great tutorial! Thank you for the excellent and inspiring work you do. However, it seems to me that the Pretty Link plugin available in WordPress repository does basically the same thing as the shortlinks plugin, and the former appears much easier to set up. This is not a conclusive statement, just an initial opinion. I'm wondering if you might consider doing a comparison of the two. It would be great to see how they measure up and why one might want to go for Shortlinks rather than Pretty Links.
Hey Philip-appreciate the feedback! I had actually used PrettyLink in the past, however, I had some challenges with it working properly for the type of links I was trying to make (and providing a default, fallback URL) so I decided to make a solution that did 🙂. Here’s what I would recommend: use PrettyLinks if you would like to incorporate links into your current WordPress website-and use Shortlinks if you would like to have a site dedicated to shortlink creation. Both are strong in their separate use cases. I hope that helps!
