@Monkeyslipperz - Thanks, I'm glad this helped. I made this video to show how to make a vanity for smaller collections. This is not all my makeup, just the makeup I have in my apartment for school :). In this video I'm using a Sony Cybershot T90. Really great camera for video, has nice auto focus.
I like that desk organizer. I thought it was a silverware holder at first. I have a silverware holder that might be too big for the kitchen drawers at my new apartment. I got that inspiration from your video. I already have tall wide vases for my brushes, and a multi-drawer tower for the rest of my makeup that has those drawer segmenters in it. Glad to see what I do isn't crazy :)
@jellofloww - All makeup is different. For example, mascara doesn't last as long as a powder would. It also depends on how you store your makeup. If it's in a damp, moist area it will "go bad" faster. I just touch the makeup, like if a powder is all dry and patchy and loses it's pigment and texture I would trash it. Same goes for chalky eyeshadows and sticky lipstick. I hope that helps! :)
@nikkithebrat - It's one of my most requested videos, but since I'm here in my apartment away from home I don't have all my makeup with me. So once I go back for summer and set up my new vanity area with all my makeup I'll for sure film a video :).
@LovelyBeauties101 - I love the neutrogena skin clearing powder! use it everyday. it has good coverage and doesn't appear too powdery. comparable to the MAC studio fix powder.
Just an idea, dunno if you'll want to try it or not but of you have problems getting your makeup brushes out of the cups ( the shorter brushes) you can always add something like beads, rice, pebbles, marbles, ect to the cups and stick your brushes in them. It helps raise them up a bit and is another way to decorate and add color to your room depending on what you use. Just thought I'd share.:)
This was a great idea! Thank you soo much. I'm planning to start my vanity soon and I also live in an apartment so this is perfect! I don't even have to worry about a table because I'm going to go with your idea.
i love the idea for making my own vanity desk.... i actually built mine out of some plywood my neighboor had, and i cut it, sanded it, spray painted it, hand painted small designs, and the mounted it on my old electric piano holder! :) i looove it, it has soo much space, and its exactly my style because i made it! for storage i got a $5 draw thing from walmart and im using plain white powder juice containers for pencils, glosses and brushes! woooohoo
This is actually a good idea..i've always wanted a vanity table with the mirrors and stuff, but it would cost wayy too much money.. but this is a good wayy to save money and be creative:) good work and i think i'll take the tips.
i know that you posted this video a long time ago but just letting you know that i loved the idea. i went straight to walmart, picked up some drawers, and organized my make up. thank you.
@bazeen9999 - I did the whole bead thing a long time ago, it just limits the amount of brushes I can fit into a cup, and the beads scratch the handles.
We have the same pink drawer!! yay && i have those white storage things in my bathroom. We are so siamese!! I wish I had that much room to have a vanity. :/
@nikkithebrat i think you should go to dollarama and go to the crafts section and buy one of those jar of beads. then you can put it in the brush holder. it will look better plus it will keep ur brushes from touching one and other.
I used to have a vanity i never really used it for make up at all. I was such a tomboy back then & my rooms kinda small for one. But i want to make something like this! It's a lot more creative.
I just have a bookshelf as my vanity and with that i can also store more stuff! Just put a mirror on top of a bookshelf and ur stuff in the boookshelf and thats it! Thats how my vanity is and i love it! :)
Thank you so much for the inspiration! My collection is tons bigger so 3 drawers won't do, but u gave me a great idea for a solution to my every growing collection with the drawer organizers! Ps, what brand of video camera are u using, the picture clarity is phenomenal, and it loaded rather quickly! I've been looking for something like that to start posting on RU-vid
my vanity is a foldable mirrow (looks like a thin book when closed) and a medium box full of makeup...... when needed its set up in my desk, and when not its hidden away in the closet
I'm sure you've done and upgrade since this video was posted. The table is cute however, I'm sure you've gotten a larger table, (at your community furniture store that table sell's for $12.00 or less), the glass jars can be brought at your local dollar tree. TFS.
thank you so much...I don't know why I didn't think of this myself. I have cats so I had everything out on top and they came and destroyed it! everything was on the floor. thanks so much.
It's cute n it works for u but when I think of a vanity I think of a place to sit with a table top to set out my stuff a big huge mirror to see myself n to be able to pretty myself up! Ur storage containers r great though.
