Synopsis: Although Clarence Thomas remains a controversial figure, loved by some, reviled by others, few know much more than a few headlines and the recollections of his contentious confirmation battle with Anita Hill. With unprecedented access, the producers interviewed Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife, Virginia, for over 30 hours of interview time, over many months. Justice Thomas tells his entire life's story, looking directly at the camera, speaking frankly to the audience. After a brief introduction, the documentary proceeds chronologically, combining Justice Thomas' first person account with a rich array of historical archive material, period and original music, personal photos, and evocative recreations. Unscripted and without narration, the documentary takes the viewer through this complex and often painful life, dealing with race, faith, power, jurisprudence, and personal resilience.

I can point back to his autobiography, My Grandfather's Son, as an important point in my world view. I have a high admiration for CT and have given the book to two young men, one black, one white (my son) and am taking my other son to see the move today. I am thrilled to drive the 50 minutes one way to see this and support it.

He consistently gives decisions against civil rights. He doesn't actually care about equality. When he says he was the wrong black guy, he is right. When he says he wants to live up to his oath, he has already utterly failed. He's a federalist yes man and will undoubtedly go down as an absolutely pathetic figure in American history.

I was not aware of this film, I had the luck of randomly see it stating on TV and I saw it. it is truly inspirational, remarkable, what a beautiful story, the story of the American Dream. A true American hero, a mentor, somebody to look up as example. We dont really appreciate as we should the core of our nation. Our people. Our story. Our heritage. Those who still believe we are divided are the problem. We are not. We are one, we are all Americans. Out of many backgrounds, races, religions, we all bleed the same and believe in the same. Have the same dreams, ambitions, want the best for our loved ones, as we should want the best for our own people.

I'm not American and I'm barely forming understanding this. I've don't even understand what ZfG means. From an outsider only just began educating myself on this matter: I saw a man who refused to back down, I saw a man who would not be shaken, I saw a man I could respect. I don't know if he stands for the same things I stand for, but I understand what it means to retain integrity in the face of overpowering adversity - and that's enough. I can respect any human who speaks honestly, against all odds and external pressures, *especially* if I come to understand that we hold diametrically opposed views to myself. I look forward to learning more about him.

Okay, I've watched an interview with CT and Julian... I forgot his last name honestly. Mr. Thomas seems aspirational, in the sense that not only can I respect him, but he seems as though I could endeavour to be more like him. Again, I can't promise that we might agree on everything due to a lack of understanding on my behalf - but I believe we might agree on many topic, but also that this man could convince me on any topics where a discrepancy might arise. Glad I've learned more about him. But I still don't know what ZfG is 😅

How can you call his actions selfish? He did the same thing Martin Luther King did. He confronted a lynch mob in his senate hearing. He even said he would not stand down , because he did not want to quit the process. It was not about the position. The shocking facts are, the same man proceeding the hearing was just as clueless then, as he is now as as a presidential candidate!
