Always love seeing the progress you've made! Everything looks great and it's nice to see a growing dedicated community around the game. Keep up the great work!
Wow! This looks great, really reminds me of Pixel Cup Soccer, something that I think would be cool (and idk if you already planned out) is different abilities for the players or maybe just for the superstars, for example maybe a good 3pt shooter has an ability of deep three or a big and tall center an eurostep or contact dunk ability. I think that would definitely add more "emotion" to games. Overall seems great, will definitely keep an eye on this :D
Thanks! I have player skill ratings that affect their abilities in most areas, but as far as "abilities" beyond just improved ratings --- that's a really interesting idea.
Take your time, I don't think anyone wants you to force yourself into working on this title. It's great and shows a lot of promise, looking forward to seeing where you go with this.
It's definitely a labor of love, but yes, I need to make sure and take care of myself too. And ultimately, I think the game will be better for it. Thanks!
Hello, I wanted to ask you what you recommend as resources to learn game development. I see that you're using Godot as the game engine with GDScript. I would love to make a 2-D sports game myself but haven't done any game development. What resources would you recommend to learn some game physics and AI? I am guessing that some of the ball physics rely upon the physics within Godot? Anyways, you are a real inspiration and I would much rather play this game than the new NBA2K!
I like HeartBeast's tutorials. There's not a lot of stuff out there on sports - either physics or AI. I probably should try to make some tutorials or go into more detail about what I've done at least.
You can wishlist the game on Steam at store.steampowered.com/app/2268280/Full_Court_Heroes/ and the demo will be included in this June's Steam Next Fest.
If you're interested in mobile, you should check out a game called Hoop Land. I became aware of it a couple of months into development of Full Court Heroes. There are actually a lot of similarities. As I understand it, it's releasing on mobile first and then maybe ports. And I believe they've already released a beta so. If you don't know it, you should definitely check it out. The more basketball games, the better, as I see it.
First is Steam (PC/Mac/Linux/Steam Deck), after that I will be looking at ports. Nintendo Switch is almost definitely going to happen. The other platforms, including mobile, will be based on demand and our ability to support the game and its players across all the platforms. I am a solo dev on this project, though my brother recently joined the studio and will be helping me in the future.
