Creating a MacOS USB Installer using Windows - Solving the circle boot symbol 

THANK YOU for the great tutorial. The file moving and renaming wasnt mentioned in any other tutorial and was a gamechanger. Everything else ended up crashing during installation progress

With the current version of TransMac resizing does not work for me. I've tried at least 3 USB sticks with different sizes. WIth enabled checkbox the stick was usless after (succesful) restoring of the image. But TransMac can't read anything on the stick. If I do not check the box, stick is readable... but of course to small. :(

yeah the same and glad that I seee these kinda comments as I was thinking wtf this is the same as the Paragon? THX for now, still need to put that into Imac 2011 which was with High Sierra but guy sellling it to me and a friend I was on the phone and mister said that he won't sell withot making his name and ID erase...I said OK thank you for wasting my time bye bye, after which I said I don't care you format or whatever as this was my first apple, and my pride got the best of me as also he was trying to sell it and do nothing...later I said bye bye if we do not agree on the price and, I knew somehow I will atleast install lion which is like nothin, no Safari, tried with certs, cannot open applestore, nothing...I hope this will work for me

@@techbytetips Dear Friend, Can you make video on WiFi to be reinstated on MacBook Pro A1502. If you can. At present I am using MacOS Catalina on my A1502 because other OS are not compatible with my WiFi Adapter. An inbuilt WiFi is disappeared. Hardly it works most of the time disappeared.

Hi@@ismailsharif71 ! It’s hard for me to make a video like that since I do not have that specific apple model. However, I have tried Ubuntu on my macbook and everything works flawlessly (Wi-Fi). Have you tried Ubuntu?

@@ismailsharif71 if you have installed an OS that was compatible with your machine, your wifi adapter should work normally, unless the hardware is actually having issues.

Hi @@tonyhl7147! Sorry to hear that. This works mainly on the old macs. In the video, I'm using a MacBook White mid 2009. If you have a relatively recent one, they are capable of reinstalling the Operating System from the internet. You just need to have it plugged to a router and follow their instructions for net setup.

@@techbytetips I’m also using an mid 2009 macbook. It gets a problem with a package, idk what’s causing that

@@tonyhl7147 Make sure to follow the instructions when you are extracting the files from the image.

@@techbytetips now i was able to install it. It had a problem with the date. I could solve it writing in the terminal “date 0328015315” and it started to install. THANK U AGAIN FOR THE TUTORIAL!

Yes you did and really great help where apple support told me that my laptop is vintage product and not much help can be offered by them. Apple Official Service Center refused in the name of parts unavailable, even third party repairing shop also denied. What helped me is you and my will to make my mac working. @@fun3721 i use transmac to make the usb bootable but when i press options and turn on mac, the usb icon not showing on screen only icon of a hard drive named mac

@@monssef6072 Format your USB drive and try again. Check if your usb has any partitions. Delete all of them. Clean up the USB completely and then add the files from transmac. Click on "enlarge the volume" as you progress.

I wish I can help you out on this but I have not had that issue. I would say try to first format the drive as FAT32 and then follow the process to see if it is able to recognize it.

I am sorry but I am not sure. You can always try it out to see what it does.

Hey it was my drive I was using a LaCie hard drive, I’m using a 8gb now and it showed up, I’m current in the process doing it again

Please check the comments section. Somebody mentioned this and I offered tips. I have never had this happened to me. Maybe close the apps, unplug the USB and plug again, then reopen the apps and see if it works.

Hi @panda2907, I'm not sure where you are getting the files. In torrents, you can find them in DMG or ISO format. As long as they are the original DMG or an ISO converted directly from that, you should have everything you need.

If you picked the right image to write to the USB it should format it properly. Make sure that you are following the guide exactly to grab the image that you need to write to the disk.

That is definitely weird. Are you sure you are selecting the right device? Also, is your USB device a "good brand?" Remember that there are a lot of fake Chinese USB devices without the advertised capacity and that can cause you issues. I would also recommend to disconnect the USB and close the apps, every time you are trying. Sometimes devices don't work well after multiple attempts with the apps open and the devices being automatically unmounted/mounted by Windows. Hope you can find the solution and post it here for others with the same issue.

Hi Travis, I've had several people in the comments mention this exact same thing. It has never happened to me. Maybe try to close the application, unplug the USB device, plug it in again, and then reopen the apps. It might be that something is not working appropriately. Other than that, only thing that comes to my mind is the USB drive being faulty. Please report, if successful for others to have as a reference.

Oh, some macs can only go back so far. You have to check what is the earliest version of Mac OS that your machine can have. It might be because of that. Also, if you have a relatively new Mac, you can install the OS from the internet directly.

It sounds like you have a newer model of a mac. Those come already set so that you can just plug in an ethernet cable and they download and install everything from the internet. Have you tried that? support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/reinstall-macos-mchlp1599/mac

If you have a working partition/drive, why not clone it and then upgrade from Snow Leopard? If you prepared the USB drive correctly it should show up. Not sure what could be the problem in your case.

If you are following this guide, it should not give you any errors. I would recommend that you scan your flash drive and check that it doesn't have any defects. Unfortunately there are a lot of scammers selling cheap drives on eBay and Amazon that advertise a capacity that they don't really have. It might be one of those cases? I would format the drive as FAT-32 and start over, slowly following all the steps in the tutorial.

Another thing that I did find is that if you have the app open after performing changes to the drive, sometimes it would act up. I would solve it by, closing the app, removing the flash drive, then putting it in again and restarting the app.

Unfortunately that is not the issue, I have tried 3 different USB drives and this latest one was just purchased from a big tech store and has been scanned with multiple "fist aid" type scanners. I have tried closing paragon, removing the drive, restarting the computer, everything and I am still stuck

@@jessereynolds7489 Oh, I think I am understanding what you are saying now. In the beginning we make sure that the drive is formatted as FAT32 using Disk Management. Windows will be able to read it as it is a filesystem it is capable of working with. When we use TransMac to restore the image (.dmg) we are effectively reformatting the drive to an Apple partition system. Windows is not capable of handling that directly, so you might get a pop up from Windows File Explorer saying that it doesn't recognize the disk. Ignore that. --- As long as TransMac and Paragon are able to read the drive, you should be able to continue. If after closing Paragon, removing the drive, plugin it in, and opening Paragon again, it is not able to recognize the drive. It is most likely 2 things that might have gone wrong. 1. TransMac was not successful in writing the image. (Make sure that you are using the right image found in 5:00) You can try to see if TransMac reports that it has the files. 2. Maybe one of your programs is corrupted. Try re-downloading or re-installing. I honestly wish I could help you more but I have not had this issue. --- We only use Paragon to extend the partition all the way, which causes the circle symbol. Other than that, most of the work is done in TransMac. If TransMac doesn't show you the files, something went horribly wrong.

Hard to say. It should finish loading and you should get the installer interface. You might have done something different from what I did in the guide.

@@techbytetips It might be the fact that El Capitan is the latest thing it supports and that it can't update to the last version of it which is distributed on Apple's website. That being said, I did try Yosemite but it did the same thing

Well@@whats2by2 , you should not be trying newers systems if you already know the latest it can use is El Capitan. My video was using El Capitan, so, you can install that one.

Hi @dodyslaw, by the time you get to using Paragon, you should have basically cloned the install image using TransMac. If you don't see anything, you are not copying things right with it. Please make sure that you follow the steps like I do in the video. Paragon should only expand the created partition to cover the entire disk. If you don't see the partition, something wrong happened with TransMac.

@@dodyslaw, the partition is created by TransMac. You need to get the image from the OSX installer. Then TransMac basically "clones" that image to the USB drive. Then you expand it with Paragon. If you don't see it with Paragon, something was not done right before.

Not sure what could be the issue. I don't have any other machine to test but it seems like newer machines have issues following this method and they set up better using the internet for the installation of the OS.

I formatted the drive while in the installer, so, if you do the same, it will erase everything.

Hi Afiya! I am sorry, I have not had that issue. Some people have and I’ve suggested ideas in the comments for everybody’s reference. Please check those out. In short, 2 main issues I see: 1. Flash drive is fake and doesn’t have advertised capacity 2. When doing the process, the apps lost the USB for some reason. Close the app, unplug usb and plug again, then try. Always have the drive formatted as FAT32 when you start the process. Hope it helps you.
