We are Heather, Bradey, Alexa and Chloe. We purchased an abandoned stone barn in the foothills of the Italian Alps and we are working together as a family to renovate and restore this old stone barn into our dream home.

I left that comment above before I had watched any of the previous videos. But now that I’m caught up I just want to say how amazing you guys are to tackle such an ambitious project! Seeing these guys start ripping a hole in the wall made my heart sink (I was actually over here on my side of the screen yelling no no, no!), but because I had watched the previous videos and knew them to be experts in Stone House construction, I reassured myself that they knew what they were doing, and survived viewing the demolition that way, lol. Phew.

Have you considered leaving this stone building as it is, now that it has been fortified, and making the addition to the house the main living space? I think it will be easier to build with modern materials which allow for more window light, better insulation and easier installation of modern utilities and wiring. You could use the stone structure as a storage space for tools, a work studio or a summer house. You can spend a lot of money trying to insulate and water proof that structure, and it will still be dark, cold and small. Or completely fail in is waterproofing or something else.

Nice to see Heather back, wishing your Dad a successful recovery. I think the concrete floor that Heather and the girls did was great and very important as the new floor has gone on top of it. Good that you were able to change plans slightly to create the french drain for the additional leak you found. The opening of the door was very dramatic and I found that a bit scary, seeing how easily the bricks fell, hope opening more and larger areas goes well x

Yes, I saw a documentary once on how the ancient Romans heated their large baths or community pools & this looks very much like how they did it! But it would probably work even better as a relatively dry system ...except for the dampness that comes in from through the mountain-side walls.

I remain to be impressed with what you have learned and then taught us. Thank you for that. I’m 79, so will not be copying your endeavor, but I sure am enjoying your project as if I were able to voting. Thanks a bunch.

All of that ceramic tubular brick would make a really great heated floor.

I recently started watching your journey and I as extremely impressed. I use to rehab homes so I truly know that you have gone over and beyond most peoples capabilities. I know that when I did this when I was younger, much like you and your family it truly did a number on my body. I enjoy watching your efforts and accomplishments with a great deal of admiration. I only wish I could be there to help in anyway possible. I am an American female living in Turkey, my dream is to live in Italy and I am trying to make those arrangements now. I will continue to watch and I wish you and your family much happiness. God bless all of you... 😎😇😇😇😇🙏🙏🙏🙏

Heather & your girls it's so good to see you back, I'm praying for your dad complete healing and praying for your mom. Your Home is coming together nicely with the help of local trade-ins who know how to work with the stone houses. You all work so well together. What's the name of the village close to you.
