This video is almost a year old and is now more relevant than ever! I found this video during a search of how to create a nice wall behind me as I approach a new school year that will open with Distance Learning. I have a dedicated room in my house from which I can teach, but needed some ideas for what my students should see. The idea of creating a temporary or portable wall makes is versatile and easy to change with the seasons. And that makes it VERY INTERESTING! Thank you for your video. I have some ideas now!
I'm so grateful that it's helping teachers and so many others who have been working from home! If you're on Instagram, you need to tag me (@teachmarilynbstyle) in your virtual classroom so I can see how you decorated it! Has your district decided what will happen for fall? My boys are heading back, all 5 days for primary grades, and then hybrid for 3rd grade and up.
Yes............... Ma'am. This is exactly what I need to get/do. I live with my mother right now and she also teaches virtually. I teach some classes that are much earlier than hers so I don't want to just stay in the back of the house where she's sleeping where I'm making noise but then I don't want to stay out in the front of the house because when she comes out to do her teaching we will be hearing one another in the background I want to be able to go back to the back of the house LOL. This shall be the answer! Thank you much.
I'm so glad it helped you find a solution! Also, I love that you and your mother are teaching online at the same time. It helps to have someone to chat with about everything. Let me know how it works out!
I currently have a *supposed* permanent backdrop for teaching but since my room is not that big to have the desk facing the other side of the wall, I will try this immediately. Super helpful. Thank you so much!!! 🤍
Thank you so much for making this video! I see so many teachers decorating their walls. I can't do that since there are no free walls in the room that I teach in! All the walls are covered by furniture, windows, or doors. Plus I am a bi-state resident, I live in one place during the week and another on the weekends!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad this was helpful - I later added binder clips so I could hang a map on the other side! I need to update this video to show other inexpensive options.
Oh no! Well, I also put this same background up on the wall - I hot glued the felt to painter's tape that I stuck on the wall, so that I could get it off easily. I made a video about that one too! Thanks for watching!
I love this idea that you can take your backdrop and teach from any room! I'll have to try it. sometimes it's nice to switch up spaces. Thanks for sharing!
Yes! My online classroom is in my guest room, but I need to be able to relocate when we have company - so it's so nice to have a portable backdrop! Let me know if you make one!
You are amazing. This is such a great idea, especially to change the themes depending on the season. It's so fun and convenient. I can finally cover my annoying closet doors!
In another VIP kid video, it was said that rewards should be visible to students. How would this work with this back drop? . . . I imagine the bottom of the fabric can be secured to the bottom bar of the garment-rack so that velcro pictures could be stuck on there with ease.
You are correct, rewards need to be visible at all times. In my classroom, I typically use digital rewards, which are present on the screen. However, when I use physical rewards, I hold them up each time the student earns them throughout class. I have never had a parent issue regarding this - but velcro is a great idea! That would stick to felt for sure!
I had it from a previous project - I think I picked it up from Walmart. We have a fabric section in ours. Otherwise, you can check JoAnn Fabric, or even online! I would suggest getting about 1.5 to 2 yards to make sure it's big enough.
