i think im a member of this club. it was one of my first few weeks playing the game (sometime in season 4) i didnt know megs were able to be killed solo, so i would just sail past. i think it was my second meg encounter, i saw peach colored fins. since i had only seen the hungering one before this, i assumed it was a glitch or something. my understanding of shiny hunting in pokemon shouldve taught me better, but alas. havent seen it since
One of my first meg encounters, when I was still too inexperienced to fight them. I still recognized what is was though, took a picture, then edited the picture to make it look fake
The G-14 incident will forever haunt my nightmares. I've already defeated the Shrouded and I've been riding that high for like 6 months? To see it lost would literally destroy me
8:00 bro that is the worst thing that could happen in that situation. Me personally i would cry myself to sleep knowing i missed my chance for the rarest thing in sot.
Wow, congrats to Cliff on becoming one of Rare's paid actors! 😂 In all seriousness, missing that Shrouded Ghost was a tragedy, but at least you got it on video, and any natural encounter with it is more than most of the playerbase has ever had.
I am of the opinion that the Shrouded Ghost can't natural spawn, Shrouded Ghosts are unable to spawn naturally, in the center of the Rare office, they just have a large, Crimson Button with a targetting screen to call in a Shrouded Ghost "Air"strike on a specific player
@@CliffTheStoryGuy strips himself down to the bone (funny reference) and became a skeleton ship that knows how to board his ship and jump on your boat
On that random skele galleon, last night my friend and I (new PS5 players) were farming skeleton forts for Merchant Alliance XP when a player pulled up to our ship, missed it while it was sitting still, and we scared him into running off. We were finishing the skeleton fort when the coward returned, this time with a friend, kegged our ship, then died. We fixed the ship, chased chased them while they ran away again, and even though my aim is horrible with infantry weaponry due to always having bad aim and using controller, I'd like to say I'm an exceptional cannoneer - and for some reason every sweaty Xbox PvP lord never seemed to have learned to use cannons. I one-balled both of them, put 8 normal cannonballs and 5 full scattershot blasts into their ship. In my volley, I knew I'd heard something - the sound of an emergent event... I prayed to the lord above it was a skeleton ship, but I was shouting that it's a kraken before the water had even turned black. It was on us and ignored the other players until near the end of its lifespan, in which we had already run low on materials. We sunk to lucky cowards. I'm fine with deception and being outplayed, but there's nothing admirable about running away and coming back because Rare gave you a special opportunity. I shall become not a kraken hunter, but the Kraken Hunter.
If anyone is wondering, the player galleon at the start’s name is “Stor Båt” which translates from Norwegian - English. The translation is fitting, “Big Boat”.
i genuinely believe the shrouded ghost is biased to spawn on newer players more often, i've seen a handful of people with the hunter of the shrouded ghost title and only one of them had over 100 hours in the game
it probably does, on my 3rd day of playing sot as a new player me and my buddy were out doing a vault voyage then we heard boss music. we turn around seeing a meg, we had zero clue that it was a shrouded ghost all we knew was we were in no shape to kill a meg.
My story might help I have nearly 5000 hours played in SoT and am a day-one player. Just after Season 8 began, I was solo just South of ShipWreck Bay and my Shrouded Ghost appeared. I had over 4000 hours played at that time and was a non-believer (as most are). I remember that I was in an alliance with another ship when it appeared and I recall that I was headed to intersect with them and my ship was not an emissary for any faction at the time. The Shrouded has it's own theme music - very similar to regular megalodon music, but a noticeably different tune. It is also peach-colored and so visually much different too. Point is that you can't miss it if it appears and you have ANY time in the game. I was able to defeat it as it was well away from any rocks and it fought like any other megalodon. It was the most glorious and emotional moment I ever had in a video game and I swam out to it. It died with me in its mouth. I have now have the figurehead, the Cherished Spectre of the Sea trophy, and the Hunter of the Shrouded Ghost title. Since it happened just after season 8, I got a "Shrouded Ghosts Vanquished" entry in my ShipLog about it on the first page too. Sorry for your lost Shrouded, Cliff. If it is any consolation, most people would not believe you anyway and would tell that same tired "you are a Rare paid actor" joke to you. But, now and then I meet another player on the Ferry with the Shrouded Ghost Title and that comradery is good!
i’ve recently joined sea of thieves and i’m getting good at it, i believe you helped me learn the tips and trick to get me better, you’ve also helped me cope during tough times. can’t thank you more
Cliff got himself a gamersupps sponsor, hes really making it, I feel like a dad whos also a kid whos watching either their dad or child grow up too fast
I stopped playing Sea of Thieves a while ago and only recently came back because my friends felt like playing it. Turns out all the changes they made since I last played made it way more fun to me!
1:44 Not sure if this was intentional or not, but invincible means unable to be damaged. What you may have been thinking of is invisible, which means you are unable to be seen. Probably just a joke, but I want to help out just in case.
@@CliffTheStoryGuy I was actually overjoyed when you started pulling out the WoW references. My favorite youtuber of the week just because of that lmao!
One of the worst things about the G14 incident is that killing the shrouded would probably not even count to the commendation since it was spawned on the other sloop like back with the kraken
Seeing the shrouded ghost despawn on video was painful enough, I can’t imagine how frustrating it is to lose it in a ingame encounter, never forget the g14 incident, never forget 😔
Few years back, me and my mates saw the shrouded pop up out of the water, there was no question about it. But when it showed its fin and attacked us it was suddenly the green meg. Rare is cheating >:(
The skeleton bomb is one of my favourite useable items and is probably my favourite items. I only used it once and as a solo player I was the happiest person on sea of thieves to see my own skelly crew.
The thought of losing the shrouded ghost has been my greatest fear ever since I learnt about it's existence. I'm pretty sure Sea of Thieves has increased my general paranoia by about 200%.
When I just reached pirate legend (back when it meant something) me and my buddy did an Ashen Athena voyage, which took us like 4 hours, we kept fighting off a couple boats. When we finally finished the voyage, got the Athena, and was heading to sell, we got attacked by a shrouded, but because we had fought so much before, we had no cannons to fight. At the time I didn’t know the guns did actual damage to the Meg.
Cliff you gotta bring back the Rowboat only challenge now that you can use the Horn of Fair winds to race around on one. Stack a couple horns, refill them if they run out by burying them. And try a heist or something.
Well even though you Literally got ALL THE WORST LUCK POSSIBLE 😑............ You STILL got to tell/share ONE HELL OF A STORY CLIFF😂. Its in your name! GREAT VIDEO man! I would sound the same for the shrouded ghost lol. Ive still never seen it (long time player) and OF CORSE some new PS5 players (likely) see a "big shark" and just run to save their precious foul bounty skull (speculating for dramatic effect)🤣🤣🤣
Best thing, galleon with skeli curse crew, all with bonecaller. Pulled up on another gally. I just shouted RATTLE EM BOYS as we all boarded and made them not have a great time
A classic case of swabbies with unbelievable luck and complete obliviousness to how lucky they really are. I swear Rare cranked up the Shrouded Ghost's spawn rate to be hundreds of times more likely on new accounts.
Bonecaller is VERY useful for taking out the flame lords, they distract them while you pelt with cannonballs Stops the boss from pelting your ship with the flame balls xD
That shrouded ghost incident was so saddening that I literally clenched up when I noticed the player sailing into the island, realizing what was about to happen. That was horrible!
Sea of Thieves is one of those games where no matter how bad your session is, there is ALWAYS someone who’s had it MUCH, MUCH WORSE than you. Your bad luck by this point is COMICAL. I hope you’re recovering well after the Shrouded Ghost incident …
two of my friends were sailing a sloop and they found the shrouded ghost, but the only one of them who knew how rare it was had just jumped in the water, and was screaming at the other player to stop the boat but he was drunk on grug (and IRL) and missed the call so before (person 1) could get back to the boat to anker the shrouded ghost had vanished, still a story that gets told about 1/2 of the times we play haha
@@Senan_is_cool24 yeah I don't know if I believe them either, but I wasn't there so I don't know but I mean person 2 is stupid enough to have let it happen 😅
@@AntonHDMI I just personally don't believe it because there a hundreds of people who say something like "I saw the shrouded got when I was new but I ran away because I didn't know it was rare" But if it is a real story that's kinda funny
