Love the videos you do. I never thought you could use the sandbox tools to create sophisticated steel structures with double curved surfaces. Brilliant! Thank you.
Well done. Thanks for sharing. This is a great help as I am looking to create realistic landscape design models to show clients the proposed plan and/or options.
always good to review what you thought you already knew to discover why it was not working: Thanks again, Justin ! By the way is there an "advanced sandbox" which allows more control over face editing in under smoove, and doing all of the above off a non horizontal (xz or yz axis or an off-axis grid ?
If you're looking for more of this kind of functionality, Vertex Tools from Thom Thom is a good toolset - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7uGZvC5Kgd0.html - It's paid, but it's not super expensive - personally I think it's totally worth it...
Thank you so much for your lessons. I do have a question if it is possible to import a data file of x,y,z points into sandbox and have it create the surface from that. Basically if I had an output file from transit.
Hi I want to ask. The shape of my building for the final project is more or less like this, and now I want to make a diorama / scale model. Is there a tool in Sketch-Up that breaks down organic shapes like that into something 2D? Anyway thanks for your videos, they really helped me.
I'm not 100% sure. If I was to try, I'd use an extension like Joint Push Pull to give the surface depth, but I'm not sure how well it would work - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BGMypUPHzKs.html - Thanks for watching!
I'd use joint push pull kind of like I do in this video, but without the object slicing - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--Pxl0pjOkW0.html
Hi Justin. The glass texture or plain colors work well but textures with patterns are displayed in every geometric square as a unique texture. Is there any way of applying a single texture across the entire organic face?
Hello Justin, Do you have any idea of how to make an organic shape building like Zaha Hadid design.. I can see that this tutorial is like a first step of understanding organic shape.. But I want to make an organic shape of building with wall of 12cm thick.. Any idea?
If you're just talking about giving something like this thickness, maybe try Joint Push Pull - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MJ8FyGSnboI.html
Hi justin i have a problem with the smoove tool, when i use it it doesn't make "organic" shapes or humps. It basically pulls from a point and makes very rigid and edgy shapes. Idk what's wrong i hope you can help thanks
It's actually called Lines to Tubes - you can find the link for it in this forum post - sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12354 - you may have to register to see the download file
Actually yes - you can go in your styles section of your tray, go to the tab for "Edit," and select the furthest right box (the blue one -modeling settings). From there, the first option is for "Selected" - If you click in that box, you can change the color of the selection edges in SketchUp
Generally speaking, at the moment the desktop version of SketchUp doesn't run on tablet operating systems. You could try the web version of SketchUp, but I don't know if it will work very well - check it out here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-APxfekkqyoc.html
I'm a bit confused - I talk about how to set grid spacing about :45 seconds into the video. Are you talking about changing the grid spacing after setting it? I don't think you can do that, you'd just have to re-draw the grid. Did that help?
