Since, aside from maybe color and intensity, not all fixtures have the same functions or use the same parameters or have similar channel configurations, I'm guessing most presets would be relavent to a single type of fixture, correct? If so, how do you distinguish presets for one type of fixture from another? I would think you'd have something like "Fuze T. gobo 2" and "Lonestar gobo 2". Or am I think of this totally wrong?
At our venue we have 2 sets of spots, 4 of each. They have different color wheels, but for every color that was the same, I set them to the same preset. For the ones that are different they have their own color. So one set has a dark purple option the other set doesn’t, so I have a preset just for that set of lights with that color that doesn’t apply to any other light and is greyed out. Both sets have 7 gobo options, and so they are set to gobo 1-7, I just select the group for one and hit whatever gobo I want, then select the other set and select the preset I want for those when creating cues. Positioning gets a little tricky at times, and I do have to create subsets for the individual groups for that since they are at very different points on the stage. I hope this helps!
