Nex3 nice choice, if your was anything like mine the buttons are mushy and should be somewhere else, reusing the jog dial maybe a idea, glue the shutter dial to it and keep your navigation and dial, then its just the enter/center to find a way through, i think your going to need another film body to borrow parts off relatively soon.

as someone who broke a few cams trying to do the same, this is nice and all conclusions are the same as well :D Im surprised you found a service manual for this sony, thats soo useful

Incredibly useful, I think I could manage to do this without one. But some more interesting ideas of mine have really been helped by reading these manuals.

Yay another update. Service manuals are the best, I hope the new EU legislation on Right to Repair will force the manufacturers to start sharing those again.

Great work! You might get an offer from a significant camera manufacturing company like Leica, Fujifilm, Zeiss, and Canon. We love to have a rangefinder optical viewfinder camera is the best.

What do you all think - are two sets of wires and connectors going to be more headache than making a custom board with the minimal components I’d need for each camera?

great work, inspiring! You mentioned you're not a photographer, would you consider letting one of your photographer friends to try it out to see how it works for portraits, landscapes etc?

Thank you! I am not a professional photographer, but I did study photography at some point. That being said, I’d love to have a photographer friend try it out once it’s ready.
