I’m so happy you have embraced power tools for guitar builds. I love hand tools, but power tools are how most people build, and the build is even more relatable…plus your getting done much faster.

I generally like to offer the alternative. Not everyone can afford the big power tools, but they do have their uses.

You're right, machines are bloody good, nowadays. At work, we had a machine with three saw blades and three planes. It took a plank, and it came out in three pieces. Perfectly finished. Right size. Try doing that with a saw table, and a seperate planing machine. This machine saves lots and lots of time. I love tinkering with just simple handtools, but yeah, it takes like forever. Without a router you can drill holes and use a chissel, and one gets better at that each time you do it. Still, it is tricky, before you know it, you cross the line. Chip, crack, drill too deep, oops, repair that. Sure I am not a professional, a really good carpenter is twice as fast, at least. Now it is time to build a guitar, or bass, or maybe some banjo, from scratch. Or maybe building some pickups first, these things have some sizes and properties you can do variations on. It is nice having properties one can adjust, like a humbucker that can switch to single coil, by adding a coil split: it is not the same as a single coil pickup (buy THAT if you want it) but you get an interesting option extra. Such options you can build in, when you make your pickups at home. Well, this video is inspiring. Nice to see somebody building something beautiful.

I really love the push to tilt idea for lifting out the cover. It's something I've wondered how to solve myself.

Actually,, if the control cavity overlaps the pickup cavities just a wee bit, you would have a natural opening between them for the leads. ; )

Sounds like a possible router in it to me! I’ll stick a drilled hole for now.

Nice Vid! Though I was secretly hoping for the cavities to be done without the big nasty router. (cant use loud routers because of neighbors and my late in the day buildtimes) Thanx n Cheers V!

Why do you need that living room size cavity? Do you install an audio studio in there? Grand piano included? Or is it a hollow body design? Just kidding, but really, why that large? Won't you need some wood resonating, when you play?
@KingBespokeCreations
@KingBespokeCreations Год назад
Four switches and a battery in there, but it was also a major request of the customer for it to be as light as possible. So no problem having the cavity a bit bigger than strictly necessary!
