Paths are one of the first things I design for in my edible landscapes. I need to be able to get in and out of my garden beds AND I want my guests to feel welcome but not step on my valued crops or ornamentals.
00:05 This is one of my Hugelkultur Beds - This one is sunken - Not raised -I call this one Hugel 2
00:20 The reason I don't want "this oregano" to spread
00:58 The natural shape of oregano should look like this
01:45 Where these tall stems fall down it will have contact with the soil and make new plants
02:10 Trimming up these oregano plants to define this space
02:35 Purportedly Oregano is really good for chickens to aid with the prevention of parasites
03:05 Close up of the trimming process
03:58 I'm not worried about cutting at a node or any place particular
04:30 Here is what the path and parterre look like now. That is so much better don't you think?
06:00 Another entrance into this edible landscaped bed. I'm using artichokes as a hedge to define this space on the sides
07:00 I'm always saying don't forget the flowers! So...I'm letting the cilantro go to seed and these flowers and some of the other flowers are attracting many many beneficial insects that will do my pest management for me.
07:49 As soon as some of these cool-weather annuals come out I'm already thinking of what needs to go in next. Peppers? Sunflowers? etc.
08:40 Let's go feed this oregano to the chickens!
09:05 Eggs... That's a fair trade.
