Creating Fae with make up and watercolor! Channelling my Nostalgia 

King of the Summer Court, and Queen of the Winter Court. Absolutely beautiful in both cases.

The fae king look really captures the feeling of alluring and dangerous, I just love it!! I also feel like the queen looks like a dragon in human form, beautiful but intimidating as hell. I've got to say your ability to make yourself look hyper masculine or feminine is amazing!! You look like two completely different people.

So I saw post of yours recently. Asking who simps for the Owl. My answer to that. Why simp about an owl, when there's a Phoenix underneath. Love the art and creativity 👌

I love this so much! My LARP sense are tingling with all the possibilities to creep out other players at multi day events. I have a bone shaman that worked well... but the fae sing to me! Also I had some of those books as a kid! My mum use to tell me that my long hair had knots in the morning because the fairies had a party in it while I was asleep. ❤❤ Thank you for the dopamine!

Here’s a tip: if you want to create something like this, you can also use white colored pencils or crayons, because he wax won’t absorb the watercolor! So if you don’t have masking liquid, try this instead

Pro tip from my makeup artist friend: button up shirts. I had to buy one because I hate them, but being able to change without pulling it over your head is key.

This was a fantastic watch! Kudos to your editors, too. The @runmien image makes me think of a modern take on Brian Froud's work, which is probably where my mind goes when I think of fairies and the fae. Also, a really good take on the "dark side" of fae is the book "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell" which is definitely a recommended read for anyone who loves the concept of fae and fae lore. OH nostalgia! i think i had the same fairy books as a kid, i don't know for sure cause i don't have them anymore and i remember there being puzzles in the books as well as the story and water colored painting that look very similar too yours

Beautifully done. Original Faeryz lore, in some cases, had them as mischief makers, or more evil type. So maybe have 1 with both good/evil personalities. If I ever did a Faeryz, it would be a Gothic Halloween type. The King gives lunar moth vibes, and the Queen does give off Mermaid vibes. The royal couple looks great!!

"Queen of Air and Darkness" is one of my favorite folk songs. And there's a ancient Scots gaelic song about a woman whose sister goes off with the Fae. Wouldn't mind visiting Tír na nÓg sometime. Although the difference in how time passes there vs. here can be a problem. And of course, NEVER bargain with the Fae. Even Fae from the Seelie court (the good fairies) will give you EXACTLY what you bargained for- which may have no relation to what you thought you were getting. Keeps their minds sharp and keeps them from getting bored- an occupational hazard of being immortal. And the Unseelie court? Fuhgeddaboudit. Edit: I can't decide which I like better. Both are incredible. And seeing you happy makes your fans happy.

I think the execution was quite well done. In particular, the fae king has a very Green Man/Obad-Hai vibe.

Yes, poison is for plants, venom is for animals. I love this project!! I love watercolors and picked it up this year too, very satisfying. If you want to have more vibrant colors but have a bit of watercolor effect you can also try gouache paints.

I am a writer and I'm currently working on a fae book so these where really inspiring for me since I want to make the fae look scary but beautiful!!

YESSSS, these turned out so beautiful!!!! I wasn't allowed to have anything with fairies in it when I was a kid, but I would always sneak to read the Gail Carson Levine books at school. The cover art was always that beautiful watercolor style. I'm so tempted to do this too now!

I had soooo many Nene Thomas figures growing up. Also loved Brian Froud, Amy Brown, and Jessica Galbreth. And I still have a super colorful pastel fairy poster from 1998 that i feel like you would love. ❤

As someone who is always in the search of the perfect opaque white face paint I have some of my favourites. My first one is really obscure is oshiroi- the same white face paint used by Geiko in Kyoto. It does not mix well with most western makeup however. I've also been pleased with the Sunset Makeup goth white foundation. I see you already use some Sunset makeup products so I hope you give this a chance.

While you were talking about fairies, you had me thinking of the various fairies seen in the numerous installments of the Legend of Zelda series, especially the fairies seen in Ocarina of Time and the newer installments such as Breath Of The Wild and Tears Of The Kingdom.

peeling the masking fluid off gives me the same vibes as peeling school glue off of my hands as a kid

nice. fun. depending on the printer you have, you might be able to paint watercolors on watercolor paper, scan the painted patterns, and print mirrored versions on thinner pieces (watercolor paper it thick and heavier). you might also be able to print on acetate for printing on. Also you can tinker with color in digital editors to enhance the pop of colors, or completely color pallette swap for sibling designs. and I'd be curious to see if spray lacquer might intensify pale colors like when they were wet. so much play to explore when using paper and watercolor. wish I could do the practical makeup for character design art in projects.

If I may make a suggestion? When you use the UV resin, you can try to mix a blue/silver mica powder into it to give more of the water look on the droplets

What a fun video! It was a joy to watch you work. I also loved/love the fae, and I’m leaning toward the queen. Blues and purples speak to me on a deep level and I love anything aquatic feeling. Theres just one disappointing thing about the entire video… When you were showing us the book and told us how you imagined which faerie you thought you’d be? You never told us which one you picked! How could you? Imagine my hurt face, and then increase the magnitude by like… three sad puppies. 😂

The Fae Queen has an awesome look though once you mentioned looking like someone that had drowned my brain just went BAM and slapped out a whole damn story of her origin and you don't have to use or nothing i just have to get it out of my head. She was mortal once, her family had placed her into an arranged marriage and she greatly disliked it. One day asvshe was wandering the forest near her town she happened upon a clearing that was never there before. It was here she encountered the mysterious king of the fae who was sitting on an overturned tree and thinking about whatever a being of his incredible power would think about. As their eyes met he became as fascinated with her as she with him. In secret they began a very passionate romance but she was distraught because she was already promised to another. Which the fae king did not understand because she herself had made no promises or pledges, her family had made them in her name. After her family forbade her from seeing the king of fae ever again she lost all hope and threw herself into the deepest lake in the most remote corner of the forest. The fae king, his heart breaking at the loss of his beloved wept for her. He had only known selfish desires before. The things he wanted he wanted only for his own sake but upon seeing how fragile and delicate the life of a human is he understood what it meant to desire another's well-being for their own sake. He declared he would surrender all that he is, was or ever could be to restore the thread of life to her for she had meant the world to him. His subjects, all the fae of creation, came together and pooling their magic they transformed the woman's pale mortal form to something new. Restoring her life, her mind, her body. They returned the spark of life to her. The king, seeing his beloved alive again pleged himself to her. Declaring that she could have anything in his power to give. The woman smiled and said she wanted only one thing: To never be without his kiss.

I did love the Winter Ice Fey the best. The Summer Moth Fey was very close second. All-in-all, most impressive.

you can iron paper! i don’t know how it would affect the watercolors, but a technique used with marbled paper is ironing it after it’s dry to flatten it
