I love doing this sometimes! I especially like to import jpg images or just play around with a text file and see what it generates in Audacity. I also splice snippets of waveforms together in Audacity to get weird sustained tones

Aw hell yeah, I use these all the time! :D So glad to see a video on this technique. I've gotten some great spice out of them when cutting out really precise tones or sequences, then re-stitching those cutouts back together. Slap a Decapitator on the very end and it's impossible to go back to library-sourced glitches and bleeps.

It creates so much usable content. I have a feeling I'm going to end up making a Part 2 to this video where I actually add effects to these glitches.

Very interesting video... Looking for testing it in my music making ASAP. Could be confirmed by others, but compressed files like zip archives, jpg files, mp4 files, ... tends to produce a noise indistinguishable than white noise. It seems logical to me as the aim of these compression algorithms is to "whiten" data since a white noise is by its total randomness not compressible any more.

Is there a way to bitcrush audio in Audacity?

Not natively. However, I was able to find a forum post ( forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?t=118947 ) that has a BitCrusher plugin. I've downloaded it and confirmed it works on the newest release Ver. 3.1.3 The top post has a link to the latest version of BitCrush.ny (Audacity's native plugin type). If you're on Windows, you'll download this file then go into C:\Program Files\Audacity\Plug-Ins and put the file you just downloaded in there. When you launch Audacity, you may need to go up to Effects>Add/Remove Plug-Ins and enable it first. Hope this helps.

Pro Tools is a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) like Audacity, Reaper, Logic Pro, Nuendo, etc. used for audio editing. There is a free version but has limited capabilities compared to it's paid versions. You can get it from www.avid.com/pro-tools

when I click on raw data i go to my downloads folder, how do I get to the pro tools?

If you have Pro Tools installed, it won't be in your downloads folder but instead in "C:\Program Files\Avid\Pro Tools\ProTools.exe" (or whichever drive letter you have your programs installed to)
