To me John was never the franchise also John died in Genisys already lol. John's character had already been explored in every way possible before this movie did fans really just want yet another movie of another Terminator coming after John yet again just like all the other movies lol. When I watched T2 as a kid I liked John but he was never even close to my favorite character nor was he ever as interesting as Lindas Sarah for me Arnolds Terminator was the best thing about the movie I could care less if they killed John in a sequel long as the plot leads to an interesting development for Linda's character who was the real human star anyway. John stopped Judgement Day in T2 his character had no place in the story of this movie he would have been pointless I had no idea so many people loved John from T2 so much for whatever reason lol.

Joe Kinchicken i cant get one thing. The universe of terminator is so huge, why they didn’t focused on T1000 story, and his uniqueness, and for ex it could be cool story of t1000 creation, when skynet sent him to human’s camp and t1000 recognized that humans and their weapons are less dangerous for him than skynet’s ones, and switched to human’s resistance. Than skynet sent t-x to terminate and bring back t1000 to the factore, they had a fight and t1000 been trapped in a freezer. Than t-x captured him, and returned to the factory, but when skynet did final structure analysis, 1% of t1000 weight was missing. This 1% left in the system of t-x, and rewrote her program, captured t-x’s body and cut the data transfer with skynet. Would it be interesting to watch? I think it could be more than cool.

And this was precisely what James Cameron criticised Alien 3 for, because Newt, Hicks and Bishop were all killed off in the opening scene, he called it a "slap in the face". At least the film was successful enough to have a sequel because Ripley lived. David Fincher has disowned Alien 3 now, and I'm certain that if Avatar 2 does well, Cameron will disown Dark Fate too.

The Sega sold out years ago like many others And has become a box office annual release Which has changed its story so many times that's its lost all meaning. I'm not generalizing. You are entitled to enjoy what you like but many Terminator fans agree that the first two are the strong installments in the franchise and that's it's gone completely downhill after the 2nd.

The hardest part about watching this scene was HOW GOOD these characters looked, virtually identical to their appearance in T2. I would not have cared if it was all CGI but I would have loved an ACTUAL T2 sequel set just after the events of T2. I wonder how long it will be before movies can make actors look any age they want, and even have some actors appear posthumously.

T1 and T2 were classics. T3 was meh. T4 was slightly better (I honestly liked the fact that they didn't bother with time travel this time around, although McG needed to make better creative decisions with the story). Genisys and Dark Fate were travesties, although (at least where DF was concerned) a lot of attention to detail was paid to how the stories played out, the stories themselves were just... No.

Imagine if leaked ideas or draft of next planned two movies came out suggesting that John somehow would be alive through time manipulation. James Cameron did more than you know. He and Tim had several arguments over the direction of the movies, but Tim never revealed the details. With that said, it's unfortunate didn't give it a chance. There were a lot of setup for the next NOW DEAD planned sequels.

These effects are genuinely impressive, but I love how the director says "There's something new about to happen" and then the movie ended up being a story about protecting a different future savior of humanity from slightly different evil skeleton-looking robots with red eyes. The only difference is it's a woman and a different robot company name.

to be fair Terminator Genisys wasn't a flop. it's actually the second highest-grossing film in the series and for Schwarzenegger, his second-best movie (box office wise) only T2 made more. about 440 million for Genisys and 516 million for T2. Dark Fate however only made 261 million with a budget of 196 million +100 million for marketing a loss of about 165 million. maybe they should have just made a sequel to Genisys eh?

When I saw the scene I was like "wait, is this some cut footage from T2??" I didn't know anything in advance about the movie and it was really shocking. Though Arnold's body didn't look the same, the rest of the scene is spot on, Sarah and John look the exact same as in T2.

@@bernstyles They used Brett Azar, who (when both Genisys and this movie were both separately filmed) has the exact same measurements as Arnold did in 1983. I suspect it's more presence than anything else. Arnold has a way of carrying himself that almost no-one else can pull off.

Horrormaster13 I saw this in the theatre yes I know I payed money for this when Jon dies the theatre was silent I even saw one guy walk out. The rest of the film I could tell the audience I had with me no one gave a shit. Yea some people still laughed at the funny parts but it was bad never seen an entire theatre hate the film no one was into it people probably stayed to justify there money spent but man like the film wasn’t bad I wasn’t bored but as a Terminator film yea it pissed a lot of people off.

I agree with this. At the time Dark Fate came out also an PC game was released called "Terminator Resistance" It has an story of that future war of T1 & surviving. And fans went crazy for it. Haven't played it but seen the walkthrough of the game here on youtube. It's very good ^_*

A cut scene also featured dialogue from the cg John and Sarah talking at the table, but it seemed it wasn't convincing seeing them speak and it was cut from the opening. Don't think it ever made its way to deleted scenes though.

truly the best de aging scene put on media yet. i believe we are only a few years away from movie and tv shows being set in the past with current actors playing their younger self's. for example imagine a brand new season of fresh prince with will smith as he looked at 18 or 19 years old.

36 years on, The Terminator never gets old. I'm still on the edge every single time I watch it. Terminator 2 Judgement Day not only had fantastic effects with the T-1000, but put you on the edge in overdrive. There was a storyline you could actually follow. Everything else after Terminator 2 was a disaster.

Man I love cgi, it is beautiful to bring the past to the present as well as the voice. This is a game changer in the movies to keep the older actress actors a live even if they are in there elder years, it's still nice to see them being young with the cgi. Keep up the good work

They were going to, starting with Salvation, and the sequels would've had Arnold, Robert Patrick and Kristanna Loken as John's soldiers before they became Terminator face templates. Salvation only failed because Arnold wasn't in it. Otherwise, I loved it. Christian Bale, Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin (RIP) were fantastic.

In two generations from now I'd say. 12 or so years Humans already look good in current games (especially Naughty Dog's) but there's not enough geometry to drive super advanced facial animations and not enough processing power to render a sufficient amount of hair strands.
