Ever since I started using voice shortcuts Siri refers to me as the Kwisatz Haderach. The edge of sarcasm in her response has me concerned.

Very interesting. In numbers it put date and time in notes it did not. What confuses me are the variables and what they mean and where to use/place them in the short cut. Please do a video run down of the various shortcuts and their use. This could open a huge door for me and others.

Is there a way to immediately add value? Like can I say “ add value 10” and Shortcuts just adds them, so I don’t have to wait for Siri to ask me what I want in the second prompt?

@@macmost Well you say “add to voice note” and then you wait for siri to ask you “what to add ?” and then you say “something”. So it’s a 2 step process. Is there a way to just say “add to voice note something” and siri adds “something” right away. So i’d like to extract the value right away.

@@random_acorn No, there's no way to incorporate it into the initial Siri command before the Shortcut is triggered.

Thanks! Is there any way to skip the back-and-forth? I'm thinking about providing the text as a parameter to the command (the shortcut name) instead of input after the separate prompt. So I would say something like "Add to note the content" which would append "the content" to the note. This is how the Reminders app works, so you can say "Remind me to buy fruit" and it will create a reminder "Buy fruit".

Bring it to a whole new level. Skip Siri; and create voice control commands to open shortcuts. So you could say "whats the high temperature today" and you shorcut runs the wind speed shortcut which speaks the wind speed" I have 100 of these and can without any key word ask numerous commands and questions. It's spooky; feels like I'm chatting with HAL9000

Hi, great video. I have a challenge, i have ChatGPT on a shortcut connected to Siri, and it works great, but what i would like is to put the answers of chatgpt in an note. Or word or.. in others words, do you think it is possible if siri open the shortcut ( Siri got) you can make an flow for notes from the answers of chatgpt? For example you can ask to make an offer and prepare it in notes.

this is great, i was using a read text, then dictate text command chain, but the ask for input works much more simply. i thought my bug has to do with the way i set it up before with dictate, but it also is present with the ask for input command. i can’t figure it out, but siri just asks for my input in an infinite loop. no idea why. the same shortcut as you have does the same bug on my device.

Very nice thanks! I'm new to mac and having issues with my voice driven shortcuts you might have some answer to my problem. I have two shortcuts name it A and B. Each shortcut opens a webpage with different URLs of course. If I run manually the shortcut/workflow, works perfectly A opens A_URL, B opens B_URL, but if I call it with voice command both opens A_URL. Shortcut names completely different so Siri can definitely recognise. Do you have idea? Should I use some variable? I just use the "Get Specified URLs" + "Display Web Pages" in my workflow.

I've been fighting with Voice Control (and maybe Siri) with Mac Monterey using a Date Picker. The frustration is that although I can use VC to move between fields, I cannot use VC or Siri to enter a selected month/day/year (textual date picker). One of the options for new Commands in VC/Siri is to link to a Shortcut which I did which generated numbers from spoken text and was supposed to type in the number to the selected month/day/year but it doesn't work (paste doesn't work I assume because the date values cannot be pasted either, only typed). Have you come up with a way to enter data into date pickers with VC or Siri or Shortcuts?
@macmost
@macmost 2 года назад
I haven't tried that. Can you tell me the specific "date picker" you are trying to use?
@homemovies751
@homemovies751 2 года назад
@@macmost It’s the standard MacOS textual date picker (no time) with a stepper (NSDatePicker). It’s the “old” kind that does not have a popup calendar overlay. Just 3 fields - Month / Day / Year and a stepper. Changes to any of these three can be made with by selecting one of them and entering numbers with the keyboard, increasing/decreasing values via up/down arrow keys or the stepper (but no pasting). Even with VC “Show Numbers” the control does not have a “number”. I have hundreds of scanned photos that I want to change the create date to the date stamped on the photos by my cameras (scanned photos only have the date the they were produced). Dealing with popup calendars and changing years (especially) for randomly positioned photos is difficult. Thought VC would make the process easier and smooth. Don’t think it’s possible with VC.
@macmost
@macmost 2 года назад
@@homemovies751 Yes, but what specific date picker. In other words, give me steps to recreate so I can try to help: Go to app X, do Y, click on Z, etc. If Show Numbers doesn't have a number for it, then it may not be possible.

@@macmost Thanks for your interest but I now think this is beating a dead horse. There's no Mac app I know of that uses this picker anymore, and I've spent hours looking into this, creating shortcuts, automator workflows, etc. The app that I tried from the App Store and is rarely bought. However, I did find and created a custom panel that I've put 31 buttons to enter days and months along with 10 buttons for years that will serve my purpose. Thanks again for your interest.

I have been looking for something like this for a long time to capture my thoughts while I'm driving. Huge thank you. I have actually used this to create a shortcut called "Add to Keep Track" because for the past year or so, I have had difficulty in keeping up with things such as scarf, hat, gloves, or tech like my fb glasses or even a GoPro camera or two. The shortcut you created is exactly what I needed to create a note that keeps up where I put things. I even added a date and time so that it lets me know when I added the item to the note. So now, I can say "Face Book glasses left in car" or "FB glasses in closet" and it's going to really help when I no longer need my scarf, hat and gloves - I can now put them away and add that to my note. I would have never figured this out on my own! Since I have set this up, it has actually helped me! It's true that I could have just used reminders, but I like appending a note better. Again, thank you! Extremely helpful!
