I just switched from Windows (20 years) to Macbook (2 weeks ago) and I was scared of all the changes especially Stage Manager so I turned it off, today I am more comfortable with mac so I turned Stage Manager on and watched this video. Looks like a great feature and I cant wait to code from a cafe LOL
Always great info, Gary. One thing I really loathe about Pages is Sharing and Collaborating Pages prompts to move the document to the Cloud.. Sometimes it opens the Cloud. Not always. But what is always does NOT do is actually move the document. I have also found that sometimes, not always. the shared document has a number appended to it. e.g. MyGreatBook becomes MyGreatBook 2, or 3 and so on. And Styles cannot be added to a shared document. I have reported this to Apple but no action has been taken.
Actually this changes the scaling, not the resolution. This is so the text rendered still matches the display density, it's more like zooming a webpage than zooming a bitmap image.
I use this function, but not all the nuances. So many little bits I was missing. Thanks Gary, more great tips. I also didn't realise if I clicked on the floating thumbnail I could work from there, I was always waiting for it to save.
This guy is the most informative on all of the internet re: the mac…. No relation here, and I’m not being paid… I just find every tutorial exactly what I want to know !
I'm currently trying to copy a folder from an old laptop onto a USB drive but to no avail though unfortunately, so with that being said judging from what you've explained in this video here, I can simply copy and paste this folder onto my USB then? did I understand that correctly?.
I ran across this today, 2004-june-27. I have been doing something which I was not sure you know about, but it is indeed possible to combine both of them into getting my time machine to store all changes to iCloud in my time machine, without all data being stored on my actual macos. According to me understanding of your presentation, it is all true. But there is a really funny way to combine them which you might find interesting (perhaps a bit too nerdy). I made this in the mac terminal long time ago, and it still seems to work. In my local library, I made a link "ln -s /original location /destination location", in by case "kasper@VakseMac ~ % ls -l Docs lrwxr-xr-x 1 kasper staff 63 22 Jan 2020 Docs -> /Users/kasper/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/Docs" That makes one of the Docs areas in iCloud be the same as in the Docs area in my private files. Files written there will be shared across my iPhone and iPad, and be maintained by full by time-machine. I have been able to restore previous things in iCloud using time machine. Best regards, Kasper
I don't think this will do that. A symbolic link (the ln command) won't magically make the files transfer to your Mac. You are either getting file placeholders backed up, or you are downloading everything to your Mac (Same as "Optimize" off).
One of my important app on he right side of the menu appears and disappers as if, the active app on the left and all it's tabs covers it. Is there a way to minimize the font on the left side so to leave more space on the right. Or is this not the problem.
So, if I have to set a reminder to delete the automation then I should just set a reminder to send the text haha Great explaination but this functionality makes zero sense
The idea is you schedule it to send at a time automatically, like maybe 6 a.m. before you wake up. Then you turn it off before the next one, at say 9 a.m., so it doesn't do it the next day. But I do say in the video that you can also just set a reminder to yourself to send it.
@@macmost totally agree! Just saying that with iPhone’s limited capabilities I am having to set a reminder either way versus just scheduling it like I’ve heard some android users mention.
Im having trouble finding th settings for the tile window. I'm currently using Macaiir 15in M3 Where do I find the settings for tile windowing, it doesn't show the same settings as this video, thank you
I’ve been paying an annual subscription for Microsoft Office for years. I think when my subscription is due I’ll cancel it and move over to using Mac Pages Numbers et cetera.
This is great Gary! I'd set some templates for special documents, but hadn't thought about making a basic template for everyday writing. Thanks so much. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
For no. 10, although the replace image function opens an open dialog box, you can drag a photo from the photo library into the open dialog box, and it will select the photo from within the photo library.
Oh, is there a setting to change punctuation commands in Voice? US punctuation, such as "period" and "parentheses" are not common usage in Australian English. We use full stop, and parentheses are {}, and () these are brackets.
We've come a long from WordPerfect. which I learnt on, or even Word, which I migrated to back when MS Office was a big Mac thing. Pages is awesome. Thanks Gary.
Hi Gary, please forgive me for asking this here. Is there any way I could use my iPad to monitor my iPhone 14 Pro Max while I use the iPhone as a video recorder? I've searched and searched with no luck, I would think they would connect, but I can't seem to do it without investing in a third-party app that is relatively expensive. Thank you for any advice! :)
