Then you might like Angela Collier she is a scientist not sure what her official title would be. And as autist myself I don't want to armchair Diagnose her as one but she has the vibes. I love her videos where she just casually talks about stuff like quantum physics and the whole history why a theory is good or bad and what not. One of her videos is her just playing the binding of isaac while dissing sting theory. It's so fun to watch her just explaining stuff, because you can see she has no other motiv than just talking about her knowledge and stuff she's interested in. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kya_LXa_y1E.htmlsi=D9zKljuC0MVsFOPE

We started out using the West End books for all the lore in them. Along with the Essential Guide series, it's nifty to see how much knowledge already existed back in the '80s and '90s. Over time, I just kept seeing all these game rules on my way to other bits of information. They looked really quite elegant and simple. Just about every question I had was already addressed in the book. When doing research for this video, I looked into how the WEG one is thought of in the RPG community. I was surprised at how popular it seems to be, a lot of people say it's one of their all-time favourites. What I found most useful were the videos from @RPGGamer and @TheBasicExpert going over the D6 system, I'd look there next. -DZ

My group wanted to play "cinematic" Star Wars, but found our D&D habits interfering. We are all veteran players, occasional gamemasters, and we have run seminar-like discussions on how to make the transition. to be clear: Cinematic SW is more Fantasy than even a Fantasy D&D game. It doesn't MATTER if the thing won't fit in the thing, or whether you have a roll of string listed on your sheet... -if the story cries out for your character do pull out a microbinocular/hydrospanner/hold-out Blaster at the appropriate moment, that is what you do! It makes for epic stories!

the first group of characters a group i was in made 4 characters, there was Traveller Gar, who was also a Duro, he was a young freighter pilot and trader, and a secret member of the rebel alliance, he wasn't initially much of a fighter, and his only weapon was a gun designed for shooting rats, he probably thought of himself as quite the dashing rogue with his secret affiliations and his opinions, but he was very much someone you'd see in a background scene two other characters were the "cargo master" of the ship, a Noghri named Roov, in reality more of a disguised form of muscle for the crew, he was actually on a third level of deception beyond this, being, like most Noghri, out for some way to impress Vader. He was a well-trained assassin with various vibro weapons, and young, probably even yoynger than Gar, he was quiet, tough and not very social, as you might expect from a reptile with a secret. The captain was often involved in criminal activity, so he had hired him as security, he was also the party's sneaky/survival guy, as you might expect, and was hard to surprise, while used to surprising others due to his diminutive height. the third member was the most out there concept of the group most likely. The captain of the freighter, Flip Zeyzen was a former engineer for thr techno union and minor seperatist officer who had refused to accept the end of the war and participated in a small way in many of the failed separatist remnant movements from legends. By the present time (around 0-1ABY) he was mostly just using "we are still at war" as an excuse to flout the law given he has no contact with any other separatists or serious resources to fight a war with. Due to financial constraints in game, i couldn't buy him any battle droids, but i gave him zero combat skills regardless, explaining the last of his B1s was destroyed beyond repair some time ago. His actual skills were tech and leadership based, and the crew was implied to be funded through illegal salvage and arms dealing (all other members were labour droids from Flip's service as a rear-line commander in the clone wars) He did have a little shield droid or "shield remote" as the game called it, a small hovering droid with a big metal plate that tried to jump in front of attacks for him, i felt it fit with his general air of hubris. Despite the way he sounds in that description he wasn't necessarily a bad person, just unable to change and more than a little delusional, very much one of the dupes who actually believed the CIS has stood for what it claimed to. the fourth member wasn't part of the crew, being introduced mid story as someone a local crimelord sent to keep the crew on task, he was called Krahn, or sometimes the Krahn, ahulking, theoretically immortal alien of a species i don't remember the name of who was working as a mercenary. He was addicted to Stims (temproary healing items from the game) as a result of his long and violent career and no one in the crew really knew what his intentions were, although he did tend to talk more than Roov. Even at the end of the story we never fully understood what his deal was, which i thought was fun, not everything has to be immediately answered. it was a common joke at the table that on Disney canon, Gar would inevitably be revealed to he the ancestor of admiral Gar Stazi from the Legacy comics, due to the same name and everyone having to be related to someone the audience knows.

It's good story telling advice, it's good character writing advice, it's good roleplaying advice and it's great star wars advice. I'm working on a little bit of a story myself. I like fantacising and if the fantasies are good, I like to write them down. Recently I've slowly been writing down story parts of a grey jedi who lived around 5000BBY (?). It's more like a memoir or journal, just to get out all the ideas I have. But it means that this video helps me with that. I like it

Sounds like a fun group.I like the ideal they become great together instead of Luke, Ham and Leia where they are top in their own fields. The longer a fictional world goes on the more there will be moments where some lore will conflict. You can only try to minimize the impact and try not to touch the important thing. The problem is what is important is not always clear. For example, the one Han shot first issue and how some say it changed Han and others see nothing wrong with the change.

Instead of a y wing why not a skipray blastboat
@thebreadcircus
@thebreadcircus 10 месяцев назад
That would be a great choice, the blastboat is a perfect size for a small RPG party. It doesn't fit into the backstory of these characters, in their day jobs they wouldn't have considered it. As a scout ship, or luxury yacht, the blastboat leaves a lot to be desired. However, if these characters stick together and go on more adventures, a Skipray would be a great purchase. -DZ

People tell me a lot of good things and a lot of bad things about the CGI shows. Sometimes they started bad, then got good later. Sometimes they were good all along, and the fans changed their minds after initially being hostile. Sometimes one CGI show is good, but another one is bad. Hard to get a grasp of the matter by reading about it. In all honesty, the 3D animated ones are simply after my time. I've seen very little of the 2D animated shows, be it the 1985 Ewoks/Droids ones or the 2002 Clone Wars. For the 3D, I think I've seen the first episode of Rebels and of TCW. I genuinely don't know what happens in any of them. My stance on canon in general is not the one from Wookieepedia. I reckon you can do just about anything, so long as it's consistent with the OT. With the novelisations, and the lore from the 1987 RPG books, and with the 1990s Essential Guide books, and so on. Nothing new can overrule something old, unless the old way doesn't make any sense. I made a character for a Star Wars tabletop game in a system that's a sort of Star Wars adaptation of D&D 5e. The character is B4-70, a reprogrammed battle droid from the Clone Wars. He's a BX commando droid, but the original CPU for his chassis was fried during the Second Battle of Geonosis. The husk was tossed into a scrap heap on Raxus Prime with all the other broken droids from that battle that were recovered, where B4's creator found him. The creator couldn't repair the original CPU, so he replaced it with the CPU from a disabled B1 battle droid. The superior BX hardware helped to alleviate some of the intelligence issues with the B1 brain, but B4 is still not as smart as a typical commando droid would be. Since he was no longer fit for combat, B4's creator kept B4 as an extra pair of hands around the scrapyard until the end of the war, when Raxus was conquered by the Empire. As a bit of a clever move, B4 and his creator would move out of the Raxus system and into Kuat, where a reprogrammed CIS droid was less likely to draw negative attention, since it would be seen more like a trophy or a pet than as a tool of dissent. That said, B4's creator was still loyal to the Confederacy, and the two of them would try to subtly undermine the Empire wherever they could. Eventually, B4's creator would get captured by the Empire for his sabotage, and B4 would be left on his own. As the rebellion grew stronger and more organized, B4 would do something incredibly daring: he would steal an entire starship from Kuat Drive Yards. Using a combination of his access as a construction droid and some technical prowess aided by the BX hardware, B4 was able to successfully steal the ship and sell it to the rebels. He specifically sold the ship as a cover. He would masquerade as the fake baron Misero Bato from Serenno through the use of a hologram projector, similarly to G0-T0 from KoTOR 2. If anyone asked, B4-70 was merely a droid owned by this mysterious Bato, whom the Empire would seek to stop in order to prevent further thefts and hinder the rebellion. For B4, he used the cover to build wealth, stealing supplies and ships from the Empire, and then selling them to the rebellion, where he would then spend the money on even more arms and ships, as well as more resources for acquiring them. After the war, B4 maintained his cover, and turned the fortune he had built towards supporting the New Republic. Our actual game takes place in 9 ABY. Our GM is still building things to start the game, but B4 will serve as the team's scout and backup tech expert. Our mission will be funded by the mysterious Misero Bato, and since he's footing the bill, he "sent his personal droid to oversee the mission," which is B4's stated reason for being in the party.

In my youth I wrote a fanfiction set about 10 bby. The gist was three similarly aged youths were restless on a relatively boring farm rock in the mid rim. A human boy, a human girl, and an orphaned agoraphobic Bothan. The Bothan was sort of a tech nerd, the boy wanted to be a TIE fighter pilot, and the girl didn't know what she wanted but she knew she didn't like what she had. The father of the boy had been a transport pilot for a local defense force during the clone wars, he wasn't a clone, he never saw action, but when the empire was founded he was folded into galactic service, was involved in anti-piracy and anti-smuggling action, and still receives an imperial pension while working as a civilian cargo shuttle pilot working on contract for the empire. He and the boy's mother (a food safety inspector) are separated but still share a household. The mother of the girl was from the core, had been raised in the Jedi temple, she had known Anakin Skywalker (implied she had a crush on him), she was smart but not particularly gifted with the force, she was not chosen as an apprentice and was assigned to the Agricultural Corps, being bounced around before finding herself on this planet, meeting a charming man and found herself in the family way, officially leaving the order before the start of the clone wars. She and the girl's father are happily married and they have two younger boys as well. They married after Order 66 to obscure her in the records and they have told absolutely no one of her past, including their children. Together they are ranchers, brewers (fermented blue milk), and fromagers. The business is done in his name (the less official records the better). The Bothan was more a side character, it was implied he was the survivor of a crash in which his parents died but I was not specific. Anyway, while listening to the hypernet and scanning the waves and such the Bothan discovered a faint distress signal. It seemed to be a Republic code and the source was within their system. Using triangulation and directional antennas and such (that required some hijinks and adventure to get equipment and climb to the highest peak around) they were able to determine it was coming from the area of the largest gas giant. The Bothan never left what was essentially his single wide trailer packed full of antiquated and cobbled equipment so it was on the other two to find a way to go check it out. They didn't want to tell anyone because, well, they wanted to keep whatever it was, and they didn't have nearly enough credits to buy or rent a ship. The boy had been taught to fly by his father, and his father had a cargo shuttle... they could definitely 'borrow' it while his dad was not on a route, fly out to the gas giant, check it out, then fly back without anyone knowing, right? Yeah, no. The kids only escape an imperial prison because the mother of the girl had a bad feeling and called the father of the boy to check on the kids (yes, the cliche thing where they tell the parents they are staying at each other's house) who then called the Bothan who then immediately folded under the slightest pressure and spilled all of the beans, allowing the father to get to the space port and spin a quick yarn (while showing his imperial ID) to appease the guards. After returning home and properly scolding the kids the father listens to their story and agrees to fly them out to take a look. It turns out to be a Republic YV-260 freighter that is essentially stuck in the ring of the gas giant, and the magnetosphere of this planet is so disruptive that it is blocking nearly all forms of communication. The father wants to go back but the kids insist they try to dock. The father says if it is a Republic ship in distress then it has been here a long time and they will likely find some terrible things on board. The kids bravely say they still want to and the father docks the shuttle. On board they find dead clones (some that have been dismembered), crew that have been blasted, and one deceased alien still seated on it's heels serenely, though with a layer of dust on it's cloak and skin. They found a log written by the Jedi explaining the clones betrayed them, and when they escaped and hid on the ship the clones sabotaged the ship and killed the crew before killing themselves, presumably so the Jedi could not make them fix it. The Jedi was able to get the life support limping and rig basic communications but navigation was beyond repair. It described the thoughts and feelings of this Jedi as it tried to survive as long as it could with limited supplies and no hope. Armed with this information (and a lightsaber) they all went home. The father insisted everyone needed to forget about it. The mother (that they told about it) revealed her history and said they had to do something. The father says it is too dangerous, implying that she knows exactly why, and the best thing they can do is destroy everything. The kids, in proper idiot youth fashion, agree together to put the log and some scans out on the Holonet. Unfortunately... their attempt to steal a ship drew the attention of the ISB, which was monitoring all communications of every known contact of the father as a matter of routine following a report related to trespassing and possible attempted ship theft at an imperial dock. The upload was intercepted and blocked, the planetary commlink was disabled, and within three hours the sharp, terrifying shape of an Imperial Star Destroyer silently appeared above the planet. Stormtroopers were deployed, the mother used the recovered Jedi's saber to fight them off long enough for the father and the kids to escape in a speeder, she is mortally wounded, and as a precaution a planetary bombardment was ordered. The ISD effortlessly rained emerald green light which razed the whole valley. The father and kids get to the largest city on the planet and he is caught trying to use his old imperial navy ID to get past a checkpoint to steal a shuttle. The boy tries to free his father with a clever plan and fails, being killed by troopers. The alert is then only looking for the girl, since she was the only other one at the spaceport, and the empire is offering a reward for information leading to her capture. They decide their best chance to get word out about what happened is for the Bothan to turn the girl in and buy his way off world. She is arrested and the Bothan gets away. The father escapes and kills an ISB agent but eventually is caught again and executed for crimes against the empire. The girl gets tortured and it is left ambiguous if she eventually becomes a dark Jedi or is killed. The Bothan lives in hiding for many years, watching the net, disrupting when he can, and eventually joins the rebellion. He is among the "many Bothans died to bring us this information" crowd.

@karatos
@karatos Год назад
@@pcarrierorange it was 80ish pages long originally, so it's tough to really shrink it down and still cover the important parts. Thank you though. Looking back on it, the juxtaposition of the cliche youthful campiness at the beginning of the story that sort of had the feel typical of the young fiction novels at the time, like stories of the Solo kids and their friends being essentially invincible with plot armor as thick as a Mon Calamari bulkhead, and the terrifyingly harsh realism of what I imagined the empire actually easily could and would do if not hampered by plot contrivance, it is quite a dark turn. This was written a little after Revenge of the Sith and so I'd already been thoroughly steeped in the legends New Jedi Order series which, spoilers, gets very dark, so it followed that sort of feel.

Remember a number of months ago lucasfilms released information and artistic renderings of new characters? One was a pilot (a hot shot ego maniac who undoubtedly makes terrible decisions and is repeatedly saved by a woman/women, due to being a foolish man) who has a sidekick. A "force sensitive" rock is his copilot. Not a humanoid rock alien. An actual slab of stone that looks like the stereotype of a broken tombstone. It was named Geode or Geo or something of that sort. So who has better designed and thought out characters? So is a multi billion dollar film studio owned by an even wealthier entertainment empire with entire rooms and divisions of the studio creating new characters going to be better than a guy making content on RU-vid himself? The answer is obvious

commenting real early in the video so i might be wrong (i know i will not remember in an hour though) but it seems like from the description you're using one of the older systems for this; are you familiar with the FFG trilogy at all, and if so can i ask your opinion on 'em?
@thebreadcircus
@thebreadcircus Год назад
Personally I've never played a game under any of the systems, or seen a copy of the FFG dice with my own eyes. My initial reaction was negative, it bothered me that they used their own custom dice. Over time I've come to realise the rules for them are actually quite elegant. Plus I discovered the rules come with a conversion table, so you could use any d12 you have lying around if the cat eats the original set. The WEG and FFG rules don't seem all that different, you could probably run a very similar game under either system. I think an interesting point of comparison is the Wild Die from WEG. From a quick look, it seems WEG had one of the first systems that used an exploding die. I mostly ignored that for this video, since the Wild Die first appeared in 2nd edition. Rolling that die allows for unexpected successes or critical failures, which can send the game in an unexpected direction. That only applies to a single d6 in the WEG system, but it seems to be the basis for the FFG dice. The FFG rules seem to encourage complications turning up in the middle of a roll. -DZ
@Dezarc
@Dezarc Год назад
@@thebreadcircus luckily most of my games have been online so the proprietary dice weren't as much of an issue for me; encouraging complications in the middle of a roll is a great way to put what the system is built around brother linked me this video at a very fortunate time because i just started a new campaign this weekend, though my character creation process wasn't quite as in depth as yours - i knew i wanted to make a droid technician and while i was scrolling through the obligations (backstory elements in Edge of the Empire) i saw betrayal and something clicked in my head, wrote down 'Born on a planet that was little more than one vast mining operation, Tamsyn Lux watched her father work the mines until the day it took his life' - a blatant rip from the protomen's The Good Doctor at the time of typing this i'm still only ~30 minutes into the video and you haven't talked about the rules so might as well ask while i'm here, do you go particularly in-depth on the system and if not, is there anything you particularly like about the WEG d6? i've read through the books before but i haven't had the chance to play with them
@thebreadcircus
@thebreadcircus Год назад
Hah, yes, not mentioning the rules earlier was an intentional choice. For those who don't already know what's coming, I wanted it to be a surprise that this was an RPG video all along. In the last part, I try to go over the gameplay process: there's one perception check, one stealth roll, one combat encounter. Not so much reading the rules themselves (though I think they're all flashed up on screen where relevant), more about what you do as a result of the rules. My favourite part of the WEG system would have to be the core. Dice pools as your attributes, and skills that give a bonus die. That, and the ability to disassemble dice! Each character should start with a set number of dice, 18D off the top of my head. That's enough for 3D in all stats, and you can lower one attribute to boost another to 4D or 5D. However, you could also assign 17D. The last die, you break apart into its components. A die is made of three +1s, or a +1 and a +2. The game does not allow for a +3 to exist, on an attribute or skill dice code. It goes 2D+1, 2D+2, 3D, 3D+1. Something about converting between dice and +2 modifiers really tickles my fancy. After creation, this would mostly come up between sessions, when advancing the stats of your character. -DZ

@@thebreadcircus no problems at all on the way you laid out the video, i've been greatly enjoying just listening to your character creation process and it sounds neat, and i think i've read a few similar d6 systems before i realized a long time ago that a single d20 is way too swingy for me, and i've come to enjoy dice pool systems a lot; i'll have to convince my group to give the WEG one a go... once i'm finished playing out dr. thomas light (female) in a galaxy far far away thanks for the responses! i need to get around to finishing this video, my brother keeps gushing over another one you did on andor

That's a great point, I hadn't really appreciated that strength. Adding more dice doesn't just give you higher numbers, it adds consistency to every roll. There's one roll of 10d6 in this game, which comes out as 37. I definitely eliminate a few dice rolls on the basis that dice pools have a minimum roll, and the target number is right at the minimum possible. If I'd been playing with the Wild Die rules, I'd probably have rolled anyway. At some point, complications will turn up during the roll. Skipping mundane skill checks would move all the complications into the hardest parts of the game, when you roll a lot. That doesn't seem fair. I appreciate the comments! The conversation here has been one of the best interactions in the comments so far, and the other comments aren't bad either. The way it came out, I have to say the gameplay scenario at the end is the best thing on the channel so far. Video editing and writing at a level of quality we like to see. Behind the RPG one, my favourites/recommendations are the one about freighters/the Falcon, and the blaster tech video. -DZ

6:30 15 years after Endor the Y-Wing's been bumped out of the NR's fleets almost entirely, and even most planetary defense forces eschew them, only brought back when the Vong war made every single ship needed while factory worlds tooled up to make more new ships. Even 5 years is slightly pushing it for the New Republic itself. So yeah it's buyable.

While I have a few of the West End supplements (the first and 2 Adventure Journals), I actually don't have anything related to Star Wars RPGs. I do have the Firefly RPG, which uses a modified version of the Cortex 2 System. I could use it to make Star Wars characters with, although the closest to a Jedi would be the Psychic-Assassin River, so a few small modifications would be needed to play a Jedi. The biggest difference would be species. I could just have continue to have Species not affect the character's mechanics; or I can give each species their own distinction, to help diversify the characters. This is the River, the Government Experiment, from the core book itself: *Attributes* Mental D10; Physical D8; Social D6 *Skills* Craft D4; Drive D4; Fight D4; Fix D6; Fly D4; Focus D6 (Studying); Influence D6; Know D10 (Science); Labour D4; Move D6 (Dodge); Notice D12 (Intuition); Operate D10; Perform D6 (Dance); Shoot D4; Sneak D8 (Hiding); Survive D4; Throw D4; Treat D4; Trick D4 *Distinctions* _Government Experiment_ D8 - Gain a Plot Point (PP) when you roll a D4 instead of D8 - _Meddled With:_ Spend 1PP to step up your Mental Attribute for the scene. Step down your Social Attribute for both this Scene and the next. - _Two by Two, Hands of Blue:_ Create a Painful a Painful Memories D8 Complication to step up your Know for the rest of the scene. _Highlighted Skills:_ Fix, Know, Operate _On the Run_ D8 - Gain a PP when you roll a D4 instead of D8 - _Hide in Plain Sight:_ Spend 1 PP to reroll a die when you're being pursued. On your next roll, both 1s and 2s count for complications. - _Guilt by Association:_ Gain 1 PP each time your actions cause your fellow Crewmembers to become targets for whomever it is that's chasing you. _Highlighted Skills:_ Move, Notice, Sneak _Reader_ D8 - Gain 1 PP when you roll a D4 instead of D8 - _Secrets, Secrets:_ When you are in the presence of someone who is trying to keep a secret, spend 1 PP to discover the Secret with a Mental + Know Action. If your Action fails, create or step up a Paranoid Complication - _Psychic Flashes:_ Once per scene, spend 1 PP to create a D8 Complication on a Gamemaster character by blurting out a secret or negative fate. *Signature Assets* None _____ As I said, making a Jedi isn't that hard. The first thing to do is to create a Role Distinction for the Jedi Character(s). Jedi Apprentice, Jedi Knight, Jedi Master would all have different Distinctions and Highlighted Skills for their distinction. It's even possible for two characters to have the same distinction, while having different Highlighted Skills to represent their specific Jedi training. The Highlighted Skills (and specialties) best reflecting Jedi training would be Fight (Lightsabers), Focus (Calm, Willpower), Influence (Leadership, Jedi), Know (Force), Move (Dodge, Jump, Run), Notice (Intuition), Trick (Distractions, Fast Talk). The Distinction Triggers could also be individualized instead of being the same. An example of a Distinction Trigger for a Jedi could be _Jedi Mind Trick:_ Spend 1 PP to Double Influence [Roll two dice for Influence on the check, both dice could be added to the total for the check]. If your Action fails, take or step up step up an Attempted Mind Control Complication. Of course, that's one Distinction, each Character will have three; 1 Role and 2 from Background and/or Personality. The Reader Background Distinction fits most Jedi; although not all. Characters advance in 4 ways; unlocking Distinction Triggers (players start with 2 out of 6 unique ones unlocked), increasing/learning new Skills and Skill Specialties, gaining and/or modifying Signature Assets (they too can have Distinction Triggers), or replacing Distinctions when they no longer match the Character. For example, Ahsoka Tano, at the start of the Clone Wars animated movie, would have a Jedi Apprentice Role Distinction. This same Ahsoka Tano, at the start of the Rebel animated show, would have the Former Jedi Role Distinction (or have it as a Background Distinction instead, using the Insurgent Role Distinction instead), signifying how her experience of the Galaxy has changed her. ____ Of course, this video of yours is a long winded way of telling Jar Jar Abrams how to write coherent characters, lol, while also encouraging people to play Star Wars RPGs. In one of my attempts to rewrite the Sequel Trilogy, I used the Opening Crawl of The Force Awakens as a starting point. I modified it to say "Princess Leia has gone to see an old friend who has a clue about Luke's possible whereabouts..." along with her fears about the Conflict between the First Order and the Republic is going to prevent her from finding her brother. [Continued in next post]

So, the opening scene is the Millennium Falcon going throw orange clouds to a city within them... this _will_ excite the audience/reader as they would recognize that they are about to see Leia and Han once more... once they land, they are greeted by an honour guard and her old friend, Lando Calrissian. With them is C-3P0, Chewbacca, and Bail Solo-Organa (Han and Leia's son). C-3P0 is instructed to remain on the Falcon to monitor Senator Solo-Organa's messages... a protocol droid should be capable of acting as a communications officer/secretary, right? Lando, leads his guests to their guest suite, then hosts a private dinner, before leading them to a room full of Jedi artifacts... this is when he explains that these artifacts were from an ancient Jedi-Sith war... and he his supplier is no longer sending him any Sith artifacts with the explanation that he can only sell what he has. Yet, the number and quality of Jedi artifacts didn't change, so there is someone else over bidding him on the Sith artifacts. What's important is, he's been buying the artifacts for Luke... the last time he saw Luke was when he delivered the last shipment to his Academy of Naboo. It was at that point he told Luke who was his supplier. "Several months later is when Luke announced his temporary absence, to go on a few months long journey. By the time he actually left, I completely forgot about our conversation. I think, Luke went to find the source of the artifacts himself... then something happened to him." Before they leave, Lando convinces them to take his prodigal son with them. While his son is currently under quarters arrest for messing around with some safety equipment (no one was injured), his son just doesn't seem to understand the seriousness of what could have happened... he blames it on his friends... "so please take Finn Calrissian and try to get him to mature. He has a great shot, won multiple shooting competitions, he might be able help in that regard... although I hope you have a safe trip." They reach their next destination, Lando's supplier. There Leia and Bail sense something weird in the Force at the supplier's office. Bail locates their weirdness and discovers a young woman, Rey. She is the supplier's force sensitive "indentured servant" responsible for finding Jedi-Sith war artifacts. They "bought" her from him before leaving. From her, they were able to confirm that Luke _did_ visit several years ago... and he promised to return for her, he wasn't able to buy her "indenture" from her owner at that time. She is very angry and bitter about Luke's betrayal of her... he used her and never came back for her as he promised. She's extremely uncooperative with his family. While Leia, Han, and Bail were visiting the supplier, Chewbacca, Finn, and C-3P0 were left with the Falcon. Finn grew bored of being a guard, and ran off to find some entertainment. It takes time for Han and Chewbacca to find Finn, in the middle of a Sabac Game... Han chews him out for not obeying orders and that he needs to accept accountability and be responsible, and all the other things unruly teens tune out, lol. The time the trio were gone, gave Leia and Bail plenty of time to settle down Rey in Padme Solo-Organa's personal room on the Falcon. Note: The Millennium Falcon was modified after the Civil War to serve as the personal Yacht for General (retired) Han Solo-Organa. This meant the cargo area was converted into the sleeping quarters for the couple and their 2 kids and a small private office for Leia's use. The other sleeping chambers were improved as well. The result is while the Falcon can carry almost the same number of crew+ passengers as before the renovations, everyone has better quality quarters, but her cargo capacity is severely limited to perishables. The middle act of the movie is the group trying to retrace Luke's journey, while Finn becomes more and more of a hindrance to the group (starting riots by hunting protected animals, antagonizing locals, etc.), and they try to change Rey's view of the family... Eventually, they find an old Museum dedicated to the Sith-Jedi war made to honour the Jedi's sacrifices. Even though the Museum is over 1,000 years old... it's well built, well maintained, and anyone is capable of buying trinkets to help fund the Museum. There is even a Jedi meditation room within the Museum that the Jedi used. While meditating in it, Leia, Bail, and Rey have a vision of all previous force sensitive people who have used that room, starting with Jedi masters and apprentices, then Jedi and locals, adults and children, then just the locals, before Luke arrives. When Leia cries on Han's shoulder fearing they wouldn't find him as Rey breaks down and directs them to another world she told Luke... a world that only had a small Sith outpost on it, but not otherwise ever inhabited. They travel to that world... they leave C-3P0 on the ship. Finn wanted to bring his "Big Game" rifle (think of the ones capable of killing the Giant Insects on [Ithor?])... Han tosses it aside and berates Finn even more. "We don't need it, I have this (blaster pistol), Chewbecca has his boltcaster, and they have lightsabres." Outside of the one building with power, they find a rusting R2 droid. They can't open the doors, so send Chewbacca and Bail to the Falcon... Chewbacca to fix R2, and for Bail to escort C-3P0 to the doorway. C-3P0 is able to translate the text so they could figure enter the building. Once inside, the discover that the entire area is completely cut off from the force, Rey, Bail, and Leia, lose their 6th sense and can't use the force in anyway... making them extremely uncomfortable. In a central room they find a discarded green lightsaber. They have C-3P0 to translate the computer system, revealing that this is prison... and a single cell is still occupied. They find and release Luke from the torture chamber that is a Sith prison cell. The years of torture -- frozen in carbonate, partially unthawed, electrocuted, then being refrozen, repeatedly... until the system fails, the subject die, or the subject is released -- took a toll on Luke... he's blind and is slow as he's still in pain from his experience and is a bit weak from lack of food. He talks to Rey, taking interest in how she is, as he brushes any concern about him ("I'll be fine, just need time"). He admits he released a Sith Lord from the cell... and it was the Sith lord he put him in the cell, (caught me by surprise"). Once outside of the prison, they are met by Kylo Ren and three brand new heavy assault droids. Kylo Ren thanks Finn for the fun they had on Bespin then laughs. Luke also recognizes the voice, as a prospective student he turned away. Kylo Ren taunts Luke before ordering the heavy assault droids to kill everyone. C-3P0 runs into the building... Finn runs off into the wilderness... Rey cowers behind a crumbling structure hoping it would protect her from the violence. Bail, Leia, and Luke take on a droid each, while Kylo Ren toys with Han, deflecting blaster bolts back towards Han. Leia is able to hold her own against her droid. Bail is superior to the droid, but the droid's shields deflect both blaster bolts and lightsabers. Luke struggles with his droid, receiving aid from Bail whenever he stumbles/loses his footing. Note: Each droid is equipped with a personal shield generator, a lightsaber, and a twin repeating heavy blaster. They have multiple "legs" to help them move over debris. Luke tires quickly, forcing Bail to spend more of his concentration to protecting Luke, causing Kylo Ren to laugh and taunt some more... when over the fighting the roar of the Falcon is heard... Bail leads his droid into the open, allowing Finn, tied to the Falcon's ramp, a clear shot. While the droid's shield weakens the blast, it goes through the shield, doing damage to the droid. Repeated shots succeed in disabling the shield. Bail is then able to redirect the blaster bolts back at the droid, destroying it. Kylo Ren, realizing he has failed, decides to kill Rey before fleeing. He cuts a tree and directs it to fall onto Rey. Han, seeing Rey in danger, rushes over and tosses her out of the way, as the tree, and the building's debris, land on him. Just before he dies, he says to Rey, "Tell Finn that was a great shot... and good job." Bail chases Kylo Ren, with Luke's shout about the darkside and anger, echo behind him. Bail quickly dispatches the other man in a lighsabre duel... before returning to his father's remains. They collect Han's body, put the droids on Kylo Ren's ship... and take both ships back to Naboo. Kylo Ren's ship and the droids are handed over to the Republic Office of Naval Intelligence. A state funeral is organized for General Han Solo-Organa, Hero of the Rebellion. Leaving Rey and Finn wrestle over Han's death... Rey, who is trying to understand why such a person would sacrifice himself for some nobody... especially as that nobody no longer had any use to them after they found Luke. That's as far as I got on my re-write... this movie would be much more interesting than The Force Awakens we actually got. Yes, this story is the story setting up the conflict in the next one... with the last one being the finale. *Shrugs*
