Exploring how to link tarot cards together in a reading, and how they "tell" us how to read them. Find me: curiousjourneytarot.weebly.com My shop: www.etsy.com/shop/CuriousJour...
When you interpreted the cards in the context of someone who was knew to tarot, I could totally vibe with it. This was what happened to me a couple of years ago, a surprise passion that helped me in my ascent from chronic depression.
I know this is an older video, but when you asked on IG what people would want in a beginner tarot book.. this, linking the cards, choosing how to read, which meanings come forth, what sequence how to choose.
Love your way of drawing three cards and then letting the sequence emerge from the cards themselves rather than a spread. Very interesting and useful video!
Thank you for the time and effort you put into this video. The only thing I would recommend, because some people only listen, you should really reference the cards by their names as opposed to using words such as "there, here, this one" etc and instead use the name of the cards. I know this is an old video and I'm sure you've probably progressed greatly but it was just a thought.
I love this! I started off reading tarot with spreads but for some reason I always felt drawn to just laying out the cards , but had a hard time connecting them! This video gave me clear insight & was very helpful! I’m going to keep practicing connecting the cards ! Thank you ❤️
One of the best videos I've seen on connecting the cards, creating a narrative and trying out a few different interpretations depending on where you start. It's liberating to free yourself from the traditional direction of left to right and instead letting the cards themselves speak to you first and then decide intuitively which holds the greatest meaning. Thanks..
It is said, "When the student is ready the teacher will show up". I've been trying to learn tarot for at least five years now and all of the class teachings I've taken have not gone past the basic meanings of the cards. I've been so frustrated in trying to understand how to read cards in combinations versus individually and you have made things make so much sense to me! Now to practice. Thank you so much! 😍
This was absolutely amazing! Thank you so much!! I could definitely sit and watch the whole deck interpreted! It was a lot of fun and very educational!
As always l learned so much. Eg pondered the perspective of the court cards…. saw a progression I knew was there but the lightbulb hadn’t been switched on. Hope that made sense 😂 Thank you 😊
I'm "completely ignited and excited by tarot," having bought my first deck(Rider Waite) a month ago. I've been following Tarot by the Bay, but I think David will be relieved that I have found someone who actually teaches. I see the last comment was seven years ago, so I hope it's not too late to have found you.
I love this video. Linking the cards and seeing the story within them actually makes sense now! I've done readings where it seemed like the cards were in the wrong order. I figured I had to be mistaken, because the card was in x position, therefore, it can only be interpreted with that position in mind. It's hard to tell the story when chapters appear to be out of order.
I love how ur personality comes through in your voice so clearly. It really helps me grasp the concepts..so humble and presice.. amazing combination 😌🌻
Omg I just discovered you today and wow, you're amazing! So many youtube Tarot videos are super long winded and kinda just ranting on. Your videos are actually giving valuable info throughout. Oh and i love your voice! :) Thank you!
Hello Benjamin, this is another video of yours that has really helped me . This is a way for me to really learn and understand and possibly what to say for my readings . Well done 👍 please do more of these as it’s your explanations that are so useful . Boring and easy for you ....
This was a great video! We have a similar style of doing Tarot with that detective work of which cards are most significant, energy, direction and flow! A great video! 🌟🌟🌟
excellent video tom. thank you for walking us through your process. it's clear you've really lived your work, as your way of explaining and sharing your process is easy to follow and really has clear trajectory.
Thank you for the video I don't do spreads either. I have been reading a couple years but I'm always learning more and more and take that into my readings I do the same thing I use intuition but also link together what it is telling me the only thing though while using elements if I see a pretty good read or spread, I won't always view it as great if fire is right next to water etc.
This was great! I tend to get stuck in the traditional left to right reading and have felt the need to change that. Now you have helped me see a new way of looking at the cards. I have felt spreads too limiting at times and like this more intuitive way of reading.
That was very helpful and I could have listened to you for the rest of the deck! And I hit the subscribe button about 2 minutes in, before you even started showing your process ... something about you is very soothing! Looking forward to going through your videos! 😃 Thank you! 💖
Hi Tom:) I don't usually comment on videos but today I had the pleasure of coming across this video & I absolutely has to drop you a message... I've been reading for a lil while now & I still have some problems weaving the cards together in a fluid way of talking out what I'm seeing. This video helped me so much! I'm incredibly happy that I found this bcus as soon as the video was over I took your advice, grabbed my deck & started laying down 3 cards & trying out your techniques explained in the video & it was a success..:) I'm definitely going to keep practicing creating a narrative. I wanted to thank you for being kind enough to answer that guys question bcus it helped me out so much as well. Have a great day:)
This is such a great and helpful video! I love how much easier it seems now. I'm just going to pull some cards, try this method and make some stories up. Thank you so much!
Thank you for responding so quickly to my question .I have a request can you do a tutorial on a spread with positions and showing how you link the cards to one another and also how you look around the surrounding cards to find more information? 😊
😲 answering questions amd clearing up insecurities i've had for years....at this point im just leaving comments in the hipes that ur vids get suggested to more people 😆
Hello,So are you saying it does not matter where you start from when you lay cards down?i if you lay them down 1234 you do not have to read them 1234 in that order, can you read them 1324 or 2134 just depending on the energy you get from card? Is this technique applied only when the reading has no question asked? Or can you read it the same way with a question asked?
+ru.talaa Great question! I think, ultimately, you can do whatever feels right for you. If you begin the reading with the intention that you will let the cards guide you in that way, than I say absolutely! More and more I lay out the cards without any assigned meanings to the spread and I just try really hard to listen to them and be guided by the energy of them. The caveat is that if I do lay out a spread with intentional positions, I do obey the rules of the positions. But I decide one way or another before I shuffle, so that I know what the "rules" of the reading will be. Still, if I'm looking at a spread and I'm really suck, I just try to shit everything else down and let the cards talk.
Naturally, I should be the first person to respond. :) How cool to hear my name for the first time in a youtube video! LOL I totally appreciate you taking the time, so soon, to answer my question, Tom. There's a lot to think about, but it does help inspire me to keep practicing as you do in your videos. One spread after another... The thing is, I'm a perfectionist, which I think you might be too, so I tend to overthink or over prepare when I should just jump in and learn from experience. Your examples in this video are very helpful, so yes, you have answered my question in a big way. Now I need to start trusting myself and do the work without worrying what other readers would do... Take care!
My interpretations are somewhat in the ball park, but are still off. When you put the 2 of Cups, 5 of Wand and The Devil…. I interpreted it as two ppl fighting over someone. Maybe the guy in the 2 of Cups is trying to tell the other person to back off and leave us alone as he has become obsessed with them… lolz. I’m still trying to get it. ♥️🙏🏾
Hi can you do a reading with a question on how to link the cards together to form a story? I always get confused if there is no positions. SometimesI don't know how read for myself I think I don't trust myself in what I see,so I am always confused in reading... I just noticed that even in context of a question you do not have to go in order, reading left to right or right to left you read them 321 or 213 or 231? Is it whatever your intuition draws you to? Am I correct in understanding this?
Gasp!!! I just saw an interpretation could I interpret it this way starting from the far right the 10 of wands as being afraid with the burdens that he seems to be under and realizes the Fool that he should take a chance take the risk, The Seer of Wands tells me that he seems to be no longer afraid as he has this wild animal beside him that will protect him. Could I also interpret this wild animal to be someone else in his life that will be by his side as he goes on this new journey?
+ru.talaa Yes, definitely. What I try to do is sort of listen to the cards and let them tell me which one is the place I should start. So the strongest one usually gets my attention. But it's not always that way. Reading for yourself can be incredibly difficult. I find if I don't sit down and write out the reading, when I read for me, I never really know what it's saying. But whatever you see is the message that needs to be delivered, as far as I'm concerned. We all have our experiences and reactions and that colors what we see in the cards. So you're reading is absolutely valid.
Hello once again..... This is your way of reading tarot yes? So because you read this way everyone doesn't have to read this way yes? As I see different tarot readers read different ways.. I guess what I'm trying to say is every tarot has their own reading style and if it feels right to them then it is, one does not have to read in a certain order unless there is a position for the cards as you explained to me ☺️...I guess my mind is programmed to follow rules, and it's hindering me from interpreting the tarot and listening to my intuition. as if there is a way that all tarot readers are to read. But if everyone reads differently then that is the right way for them yes?
+ru.talaa Absolutely. Everyone has their style. I'm just sharing what I've learned and what works for me. And it's always changing. So I say "go with what works for you! " :-)
