There's an old video on RU-vid of someone in a nursing home talking to an old man who had his piano that he made waaaay back in the day as a semi-kit from japan. It was a bright upright style piano and he talked about how it made everyone happy bc it only used one string per note. To this day it is in my opinion the best sounding piano ever made by human hand in history.

The whole first half of this videos feels like 2 guys are explaining how they brilliantly created something that saved mankind from extinction lol. Just the dam look of the piano makes you fully understand the soft passion of this instrument. I must buy this plugin. Absolutely limitless potential. The builder was very right when he explains how you have to make something that inspires a player. A mere glance at the piano makes you want to dig deep into your inspirational depths and start creating

If I were rich, I would most definitely buy a real Klavins Una Corda, it looks and sounds like the most expressive and comunicative keyboard I've ever seen. I'm so grateful tho that they make the cheap digital version for the mortals (actually the real one costs like an average grand, if I had to choose between the two, I know I would dig this one)

What do you mean all the pianos are comparable? That isn't exactly right. You have concert Grands, uprights, electric pianos, rhodes, organs, etc, etc....That's pretty much exactly how the guitar is. JS. Love the Klavins instruments though. They are unique and very beautiful sounding.

How much would one of these cost? I know there's the plugin but this is a beautiful piece of artwork capable of creating art, something is more intimate about a real keyboard, and resonance from the room it's in.

yea the plugin is an insult to the actual thing. Have a listen to some of Nils' soundtracks and music then compare to the plug in haha. A custom piano of this scale that takes just as much research and testing as it does creating? ALOT of money.

as a young inventor (12 yrs to be exact ) I personally thought of this same idea a year ago but I really never made it it was just and idea and yet again I want each key with one string because well for the same reason I wanted a pure sound because I was tired of having a really complicated sound but we'll..........there goes my profit

Just a hammered single-string clavichord. Perhaps there is a use for such a sound, but I should think an electronic version would be easier. Of course, Nils Frahm asks why the piano became ever louder. The Concerto is the answer, along with the large hall and the virtuoso solo recital hall concert. He mic's this soft instrument, to make it louder, mmmm. The attack is the key issue here, not the actual volume. There is a mechanism for that already, it is call ed the Una Corda pedal... Hey, they MUST know that already. So, if it works for Nils and others, why not, there's room in the world for just about every kind of human invention, and their variations. Ah, I see it also software, that makes a LOT more sense. MBB

+killax1000 Una corda is the musical term for depressing the left pedal of a piano, which softens notes being played. The encasement is for resonating, much in the same way the large body of a guitar amplifies the sound. But the way Nils Frahm records his piano is pretty unique and a naked piano would be more convenient. If you really take care of it, the casing isn't really necessary.

I love the una corda but it's a bit pricey. If you wanted one in the US you're looking at about 25 grand for the small 64 note version. Just think of what you could get for 25 grand in terms of traditional pianos. The una corda is a very unique sound that to me is better for experimental use not every day piano. That being said I'd love to play one. But I'd have to travel all the way to Hungary just to try one out.

"Four Hands" from the album Solo. If you like that, definitely check out the rest of that album as well as "Felt" which I believe was recorded entirely on this piano.

Seems like a downgrade of the traditional acoustic piano that has been removed some elements to produce a less powerful sound and for that same reason it is necessary to remove the casing so as not to drown out the sound (although some think it is cutting-edge design although it resembles more like an instrument of the 17th century). In a normal piano a similar sound could be achieved with good regulation, voicing, pedal and the right touch. Anyway, it seems like a cute and extremely expensive toy. The only thing I consider a problem is that with that delicate sound and with the mechanism exposed to the performer it is impossible to eliminate the noise of the hammers and the rest of the action while playing.
