Creating Washi Tape from Scotch Tape and Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks

Hi Everyone thank you so much for all your likes and comments on my photos last week. I wanted to show you how I created these.
You will need....
1 sheet of Deli paper, wax paper or parchment.
Scotch Brand Tape,
Blending tool and felt pads
I like to use a Q Tip
Alcohol Inks (regular not pearl)
Alcohol lift ink
Thick Paper towel to lift the Alcohol ink Tim reccomends using VIVA towels.
A piece of cardstock to lift the ink off your stamps
I'm using Copper Mixative
Blending Solution
A high concentrate of Isopropyl or Rubbing Alcohol anything over 90% you can't buy it in a Canadian pharmacy you can only buy 75% but you can order it from Amazon.
Ranger Archival Inks reg or minis
Small stamps that are eclectic Tim Holtz and Seth Apter are my favorite.

GREAT video. When I'm using alcohol inks I don't use a dauber which soaks up ink...I use rubber finger tip cots to cover my finger while I'm spreading the ink around.😊

Here in the States we can get 99% alcohol in the feed stores like Farm n Ranch, Tractor Supply, CAL Stores.

Fifi if you have an empty spray bottle you can move the ink with air from it - I love playing with the alcohol ink, loved to watch you!

These are beautiful. I have a concern with alcohol in spray bottles though, I'm concerned it's very dangerous to inhale. There needs to be well ventilated area, no naked flames nearby and I'm not sure if you need to wear a dust type mask also or a ventilator. Whilst you might be super careful, someone else might not be, or their pets/kids might be close by etc. I don't know if pregnancy would make it much more risky. Could it be done without spray bottles, dabbing alcohol on first perhaps?

My space is well ventilated, my desk is directly infront of a window. Alcohol inks are Toxic rubbing alcohol too but to much lesser degree. I agree don't light a cigarette or have an open flame anywhere near/or in a space using Alcohol inks or Rubbing Alcohol. I don't smoke so for me that's a non issue. I do not recommend using either products if you are pregnant or nursing, again both are toxic. I do not recommend using a straw to blow the inks around. I use the Tim Holtz squeeze tool. And absolutely, if you are more comfortable applying the Alcohol with a blending tool, do that instead. Also, the blending solution is toxic and made with resin. Don't inhale or put that in a spray bottle it will stick to your lungs if inhaled.

You can get 99% alcohol in Canada. I'm in Ontario, Canada. You can ask the pharmacy as they carry it in the back. I know Walmart does. Also if you go to a home hardware, you can order a gallon of 99% rubbing alcohol as I have done this also. It is not cheap. But if you use quite a bit, It might be worth it.

I have never seen it on a store shelf higher than 70 % you need at lest 90% to activate the alcohol inks. I bought a 2 bottle pack from Amazon.

I found 91 percent at my local Walmart here in Amarillo. But I have never seen that 99 percent. I will ask pharmacist if they have 99 percent behind the counter.

Some people use drinking straws to blow the inks around. You may know this already.

Yes they all carry 75%. Tim Says You need at lest 97% alcohol. Anything less than that won't blend the Alcohol ink. I bought the 2 bottle pack for $19 on Amazon both bottles are 99% Alcohol. I'm just letting everyone know where to find it if you can't find it in your local stores higher than 75%

I picked up the ranger hand pump tool. I would be very reluctant to use a straw with alcohol inks, you do not want to breathe those in and the blending solution contains resin it will stick to your lungs if inhaled.

Waxed Freezer paper works better, the Scotch tape comes off easier. Deli papers we use mostly for pulling prints off the Gell plate. It's a low wax thin paper that's translucent but thicker than tissue paper so it's easy to collage with. Deli papers are used to wrap sandwiches or cookies in. You can buy boxes of them from Amazon.

Yes, use wax paper shiny side up, don't use deli sheets. I had a hard time pulling it off and separating the tape from the Deli sheet.

I use Scotch Tape and I stick it in strips on Freezer Paper.

It's good to go stored on the deli paper, they don't fade, rub or scratch off. I gave them a scratch test. peel it off the deli paper when you are ready to use it 🥰
