In this video, I will be showing you how to create a mannequin using the Skyrim Creation Kit and also showing a few ways to help prevent some of the issues people have with them. The main issue with these annoying things is that they tend to wander around the place when they are supposed to stand still and they have also been reported to lose items you store on them.

I have come up against a problem when I create mannequins maybe you can shed some light on the problem, I followed your tutorial and the mannequins seem to work, except after I have fast travelled somewhere (usually over to a DLC landscape) all the armours I put on the mannequins disappear, they are still there but do not show on the mannequin, if I take them back off them and put them back in it will show until I fast travel again. Have you come across this problem and if so how did you sort it out? Thanks in advance mate.

Which ever method works for you I say. Everyone has different mannequin issues it would seem lol. Mine seem to have lost the urge to head toward the fridge now and they are staying put 8)

One thing you forgot to mention darkfox is to disable havok settling on the mannequin,xmarker,and trigger

4:00 - Alternatively, once you click "Select Reference," you can just press "M" to hide the markers. Once the mannequin has been linked back to the XMarkerHeading, press "M" again to show all of the markers. I actually use that method often when placing weapon and shield plaques and racks. Even if the activators aren't in the way, temporarily hiding them keeps me from losing track of what I'm doing. After all, the mind-numbing monotony of setting up numerous weapon/armor/shield displays can cause one to lose track of what they're doing.

I had the stupidest glitch happen. The Creation Club house Hendraheim has a basement with a display room. There’s a plaque there for Auriel’s Bow. I would leave the bow there, go out in the world to do things, come back and the bow would be gone. This happened on numerous saves. In my frustration with this, I got this joke of an idea in my head. My in-game canon theory is some random NPC was coming in and stealing it. I just needed a reliable knight with nothing better to do to defend my home and protect my belongings. I added My Home Is Your Home to my game, I already had Relationship Dialogue Overhaul, I started a new save, played through Dawnguard, recruited Gelebor as a follower, took him back to Hendraheim and used My Home Is Your Home to set the place as Gelebor’s home. Great, now let’s see if Auriel’s Bow disappears. Left Gelebor to his duty, went out in the world to do things came back, the bow was still there, rinse and repeat and the bow never vanished from its plaque. I couldn’t believe it. My stupid joke of an idea actually worked.

Hello, coming back because i ran into an issue. Have seen the video a long time ago and don't know if and where my actual question is answered, so i ask my question here and hope someone knows something about this problem: Is there a limit of mannequins you can have in one cell? I currently have 30 mannequins in a cell and it seems like this is too much, because some of them stand where they shouldn't, everything else is done like i always did and like Darkfox 127 recommends! Thanks in advance, if someone (maybe Darkfox 127 himself) sees my question! :)

If you follow the steps exactly but for some reason you get in game and can not activate the mannequin then go back into the CC and rotate the mannequin and markers just slightly and it should work. The CC is very weird sometimes when using snap to grid etc. Also, personally I have not had issues with making one mannequin and then copying and pasting it, it all seems to work fine. Now when I try and use the duplicate function I run into issues though, so make sure to use copy not duplicate.

Hello Darkfox127 I often follow your TESV tutorials and I keep to compliment you for Murskom Estate, it is a great mod. I wanted to ask you a tip: I followed your Mannequin tutorial step by step and I can not understand why wraps do not work. The same thing happened to me with the plaques for the weapons, if I put a sword I can no longer take it, but other weapons can resume them. Also, I would be interested in creating male and female mannequins, with the appearance of a npg instead of the usual faceless mannequins ... can you achieve them?

Make sure the trigger is accessible by the player, click on the the trigger, the Xmarkerheading and the manikin and check the box "do not havok settle" Make sure the Xmarker and the trigger are not overlapping a light source etc. And as mentioned, rotate the marker and trigger as well as the manikin so they are not facing North. I hope this helps, as it solved my issues.

You need to navmesh. Without Navmesh actors generally tend not to show unless there is an item the game can latch them on to. Mannequins are still actors so you must navmesh first.

You can simply place whatever script is on the mannequin to an NPC of your choosing as that's what a mannequin pretty much still is.

HELP!!!!!! I followed this tutorial to the letter and I have 35 working Mannequins however, 5 of the damn things WILL NOT ACTIVATE IN GAME!!!! Ahhh so frustrated! Can anyone shed some light on what the issue might be? I deleted the five problem objects mannequin/marker/triggers and recreated the them all with the EXACT same process as the other 35 mannequins that currently work. DarkFox127 do you have any ideas as to why these five won't work?

When I was using this tutorial I pressed the button to make Creation Kit windowed for the first time. Once I needed to press the button at the top I realised I didn't know how to maximise the program and tried saving and reloading. I found the solution after I reloaded but now my mannequins have turned invisible. So I try deleting the mannequins and markers etc and putting them back, but the mannequins are still invisible. I try deleting them and reloading Creation Kit and adding one back in and it says something about the texture being broken? I tried adding navmesh in case it was that but it didn't work and also as far as I can see that fix is for in-game invisible mannequins, not ones that are invisible in Creation Kit. Is there any way to fix this?

How do you equip mannequins? I've been searching everywhere but can't find anything... at all... on any of these modding tutorial videos... Which is a bit weird don't you think?

Here is an excellent mannequin mod. www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10652 I used Darkfox's tutorial to add a few mannequins and tested the mannequin mod on them. They are working fine so far.

And! What I did to make my dolls not move around was navemeshing around them, wich means they have no navemesh at all = Stupid NPC's cant walk around

I want to know how to create a mannequin that the player cannot interact with. One that was in a shop to display an outfit.

Great vid. Just a tip. If or "when" you cant select your mannequin cuz hes surrounded by transparent boxes, just press "M". Then you can doubleclick ur doll, then toggle "M" again to see the box again. Voila ( + - splelling)

hey great video, if i put nav mesh down will it stop mine from floating? each time i walk in, different one are floating...they take turns :D anyway to stop this?

@Darkfox127 Would you mind answering a question no tutorial ever covers? It's about mistakes I make.. I save every progress I'm convinced of, but how do I revert to my save after a mistake? Closing and reloading the editor can't be it.. @onTopic When duplicating a working mannequin are there two or three objects in question? I'm not getting it..

Idk if you've found a solution by now but I think unchecking then rechecking the active file (Your project) works. I tried it not too long ago and seemed to work for me

I have my cell encounter zone on NoResetZone, and afraid to change it. Would this work as well with my mannequin? I don't want to jeapordize my items in my chests and have a bit of ocd about this. Is there essentially any difference between NoResetZone and a newly created encounter zone with the "never reset" button ticked, or are they basically the same thing?

"NoResetZone" is used for a player home set up, "Never Reset" is used for a enemy encounter zone.

+matthiew gallant you have to click on "View" at the top and then check "Markers" on. I had the same problem too haha

There is a mod that does that, but I don't know anything about it. I find it very annoying that it's male by default.

reat tutorial - I watch many of them. When I follow the tutorial, and save, then go in game, the mannequin is invisible, until I place items on it (I have an activate mannequin option where it SHOULD be, despite seeing nothing) any ideas why this might happen?

Tracy Talbott Minus one t off the end, we share the same surname. Anyway, to the actual comment... its is possible that the mannequin has gone and wondered off somewhere. A common method of stopping the buggers from moving is to create a small island of navmesh around the bottom of them. This also needs to be separate from the rest of the navmesh in the area as it stops them going anywhere and they stay on their own little part. You should then go in-game and see your mannequin where it's supposed to be, along with the activator. If that does not work, I'm not sure what's going on.

Ahh-hah... Actually, I figured it out, and feel rather silly for not thinking of it sooner, when I loaded to test it, I had loaded in the same cell. I loaded a previous save, which was outside of the home, zoned in, and ran off, and there it was. Sweet, thank you for your tutorials!!

But worth it in the end - I like displaying stuff, everywhere. I am tackling the weapon racks now, thanks to your tutorial... honestly, this house mod probably would have been abandoned a long time ago if it were not for your tutorials, so thanks again!

+bestFreemaneva disable havok settling on the xmarker,trigger,and mannequin it should fix the problem,if it doesnt,load a new save and teleport to your cell
