They weren't really. Transkei at the time was merely "autonomous" even the ones that were later granted independence were unrecognized. The Bantustans were generally disconnected with isolated towns separated by South African controlled territory. The places look well run because this is compiled from propaganda footage. You could selectively film the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany or any other horrific regime to make it look "well run." There is a reason people rejected Apartheid.

They did do it for all the tribes. Each tribe was given their own homeland.

To answer your question: no they would not. However, the thing you must remember is that the quality of the homelands’ standard of living, available resources and funding were laughably worse than that given to the whites. Each African tribe had their own specially dedicated land, yes. But we must not overlook the fact that the land given to these tribes were far from “ideal.” The thought process basically went like this: • Land A - Has lots of gold and natural resources, has fertile ground, has a lot of space, and also has existing industry and infrastructure from prior colonial rule. • Land B - Has no gold or quality natural resources, has almost no fertile ground, basically has to make due with squeezing 50 families in a small area where land A’s people would have 5 families, and lastly does not have much to work with in terms of existing industry or infrastructure. Whites (and some coloured folks who could pass for being white) got Land A. Whereas blacks, darker coloureds, Indians and Chinese people were all forced (i.e. against their will) to get Land B. Yes, the government at the time knew how to build a country, develop its economic and industrial standards, advance its groundbreaking international influence, preserve and develop art, etc. However, you cannot convince me that racist laws will ever be right. It’s not right now, and it wasn’t right then. Am I saying that today’s government is functional, knowledgeable and honest? NO! 😂 but what I am saying is that Apartheid and the National Party was wrong. We must acknowledge the shortcomings of every system and objectively look at what works and what doesn’t work. Then we must treat every system/philosophy/belief with the same equal amount of skepticism and fairness as we do with others. With that in mind, Apartheid’s disadvantages far outweigh the unethical advantages. The answer to this dilemma, however, is not to do what the current government does (or at least what it wants to do). Breaking everything down just to start all over again is just gonna end up even worse than than the state of the country at the beginning of Apartheid. Instead of breaking down, we must be building up. Let’s take our current schools, for example: Don’t take Afrikaans out of the educational system, rather give everyone the opportunity to get proper quality schooling in their own language. Don’t try and degrade everything related to Afrikaans culture/history/language just because the Apartheid government spoke it - no. Rather put in the effort and money and give the proper resources and opportunities to all schools. (This is the right course of action, but the current South African government won’t take it because almost everyone is corrupt and has a finger in the pie - so the money would rather go to a minister’s 3 Million Rand monthly salary than it would go to a school where all the kids basically starve and write with sticks in the mud). If a language does not have any academic standard yet, then START developing it. If there is no academic literature in the language, then in reality there is no excuse in that sense. We DO have intelligent and qualified people from every official language that can make this happen - yet it’s still not happening. Relying on English as a crutch for the academic underdevelopment of another language is not the way forward. Hopefully I am making sense to you?

The masses were brainwashed by communist propaganda...it wasn't about rejection etc, they were forced to comply or face the consequences..I've done my research...imagine transkei now 30 years later as an independent homeland...they woulda been thriving beyond comprehension but now they have been subjected to communist anc terrorism ...ie, cultural and social economic sabotage
