He is definitely NOT a good representative of true Christianity!

Let's not try to assume people's beliefs just because they say "I'm Christian".
“Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Genesis 2:7 When you accuse someone of believing we all came from rocks as a way of dismissing them while preaching from a book that says that we all came from rocks.
lol i was thinking along those lines too. I mean the name Adam literally means Red Earth, meaning clay. Which last i checked falls under a mineral. Which is a type of rock.
The book of Genesis was never meant to be taken literally. Unfortunately, a lot of my fellow Christians don't understand that concept, like the con man in this video. I apologize if anyone gives you a hard time for not thinking one time God willed everything into existence the way we see it today.
The kindness and compassion you show in the way you speak about someone who so clearly despises you for not being a believer of their specific dogma... It's amazing. Thank you for this video, really refreshing to see a wholesome skeptic community exists.
All True Believers are like Kent. It's never an honest difference of opinion. If you're not on the TB's side, it's because you are "defective". They have no choice: to admit they have an honest difference of opinion is to admit the possibility they might be wrong. That is not allowed. Faith is a very fragile thing indeed.
@@lordkelvin100thompson8 I don't know anyone that argues against Young Earth Creationism who admits the possibility of being wrong, including myself. I mean, sure, scientists might be wrong about the specific age of the universe give or take a billion, but is there any chance that the Earth is 6,000 years old? No. It's not just a difference of opinion. There are solid scientific reasons for asserting that the Earth and universe are very very old. It's not even a debate. There is no controversy. It's not just an honest difference of opinion. If you see someone ranting and raving on the street corner about the world ending in a week, are you like "Yeah, well, that's just, lke ,your opinion man?" No. THat person is nuts and has no valid basis for their claims. It's not just a difference of opinion. You're best to simply not engage the person at all. This is what makes ."debates" on this topic so difficult. We just shouldn't do it. If a Creationist wants to get legitimate scientific answers to things, they will have to seek it out just like GMS did. And those who don't care about science at all will probably never be swayed. There's nothing to be gained by engaging in any direct debate. People just get more dug in. I have debated Creationists at lot in my time and I've seen exactly ONE Creationist come around to science and reason, but guess what. It wasn't someone who was dug in. He came into the forum honestly seeking out answers and evidence that he was sheltered from since a young age. Again, just like GMS. If they come out swinging with the whole "You believe your grandfatherr was a rock!" line, there's no hope for them. If only faith WERE fragile. It's way too strong... in my opinion.
@@__Luke__ Might want to look up how to use that word before you try and point fingers. He's denouncing a term that has been used to justify pain, torture, even killing, on top of the countless generations of abuse in the name of 'saving them'. Drew as a example of trying to shelter their children from ideas deemed wrong to the detriment of their child's potential. Telltale speaks of the 'christian love' of the Mormons to shun familiy members who leave the faith even if they are children and let him to shun his older brother and then be shunned by his mother who now only communicates is exchanges where her love has the price tag of returning in full to a cult he escaped and actively fights against.
Christian Lad well yes you would be right in that assumption, but that ignores the implications of having those types of people in your belief system and what brought them there, as an example, why are there so many homophobes in Christian circles? And the answer is that the Bible was written in a time and place that shunned homosexuality.
@@__Luke__ I love Christian persecution porn. That's not religious bigotry, it's describing a euphemism which is quite commonly used for being hateful or abusive, not religious bigotry.
Ree Webster my interpretation of the Bible says that respecting others is key to happiness and not murder. I do not get what some of those extremists are talking about and why they abuse others to spread their religion. That’s not what I read.
Any argument that begins with "the bible says" automatically invites the question "why should we take the bible seriously", which is a question he always avoids.
I agree they say it's the word of god, but it's a traditional manuscript written by man, that has created so many wars, as they tend to murder people who are different in the name of God, who had nothing to do with their sick perverted ways. It is all man-made.
Because if you look at the religions even before Christianity or even Judaism, ancient people did believe in some kind of diety, but they did not have a book with written instruction, and most things were created out of human logic and understanding of life at the time. I simply believe because of the fact that we cannot disprove it either, I am open-minded and until science can prove 100% how we as humans were first created, there is always going to be that one thought what if. I just don't believe in following some bullshit rules according to some person's view of what is right and wrong, speaking from a gay person's side. I believe all things work together with the same energy flow, and there must be more to this than meets the eye. They have not walked in my shoes or even know how it feels to be excluded in society for being different. And religion in the name of a god has caused more death and destruction than any other thing. It drives people mad and is power-hungry! and that's what I cannot accept, Id rather be an atheist than believe in an evil religion!

Not that any of you care but you ought to know the level of censorship that is going on this channel. We don't have to agree but you should know when your being used.
“He mostly just disagrees with me, says something condescending, states his opinion and then moves on. There’s no point in arguing for me since Kent isn’t really arguing with me” That really does sum up Kent’s methods of “debunking” and “debating” Funny how Kent will occasionally claim he’s “trying to help you” in between 15 insults.
He knows he can’t do anything but attack and be condescending because he knows he’s a fraud he knows all his points are laughable. I honestly don’t even believe Jen believes his own nonsense it’s just a grift for him at this point

Ten minutes of this video, and I feel disturbed. It has been more than a year since I started on a path like yours Drew. One of the main reasons I started was just the disgust, the anger I feel when I see this way of "defending" one's positions. I mean, if God exists, how can you, a believer, think that he can appreciate such an approach? How can he glorify your arrogance? Do you expect a reward? This video made me feel this wound again, I thank you for that.
I, like you, grew up in a strongly Christian home. I went to church four times a week for the first 13 years of my life. I got up early to have devotion before school, I read scripture, I prayed, and I sincerely believed. However, I have always liked learning. I read from books beyond the Bible constantly. And like many young boys, I was fascinated with dinosaurs. My mom accepted this at first, though I was required to cross out all references to the age of the earth being older than 6000 years old and cite Genesis. However when I was eleven and got "saved" for the last time, she decided it was time for me to become a young Christian man and put aside childish things. She collected all of my sizable dinosaur book collection and burned them in a barrel behind the garage. Watching those books burn, I understood even at that age that burning books was abhorrent and wrong, and that it was only done out of fear. I couldn't understand why someone would fear knowledge, or viewpoints they did not understand, enough to burn them. If you ideas are good, then they should be able to withstand scrutiny from other ideas. If you have to burn other ideas to reinforce your ideas, then your ideas probably aren't that strong. I started asking questions that she and other religious leaders in my congregation couldn't answer. Scientific questions. Theological questions. Philosophical questions. The light started shining through the cracks. I couldn't deny the perspective I was gaining just in the fear my mother and religious leaders displayed towards questions. Their hostility towards outside knowledge was telling. Finally, when I was thirteen, I decided I no longer believed. I couldn't say my faith had ever done anything for me, and I was tired of being told that dinosaurs were just tests of my faith. Inane, unsubstantiated dogmatic drivel no longer satisfied my thirst for real knowledge, real answers. My mom was devastated, but understood that at that age, she couldn't really coerce, persuade, or threaten me. I had outgrown her ability to control me, intellectually and physically. She was convinced she had lost my eternal soul. I never told my mom that she was the reason I seriously started questioning my faith, that her book burning had lost my eternal soul. The last time I left that church was like the free man in Plato''s Allegory of the Cave stepping into the light for the first time. I felt free, no longer restrained by the chains of dogma, blinded by faith in the darkness of the church as clergy cast shadows on a wall and tried to explain them to me. Like you, and that man in Plato's Allegory, I was called crazy and ridiculed when I tried to explain my conversion, and this whole new world I had found in the light. I know now that few things in life are certain, but I can never again be a believer, a Christian. I can not un-see, un-know all the things I have learned. My questions have been answered not by faith and theology, but by science and reason. I know it is a very personal journey, so thank you for sharing, and for taking the opportunity to encourage productive discourse on a sensitive subject.

Exactly. This is just a Monty Python routine, a comedy sketch by someone who doesn't know he's doing a comedy sketch and wonders why everyone is laughing.
“There is no hate like Christian love” and Kent Hovind is a shining example of that. I remember when my best friend was in college, majoring in geology, his girlfriend’s parents gave him a video. Neither of us knew what exactly what it was. It was one of Hovind’s “Dr. Dino” videos. We sat and laughed at it until we really started to realize he really believed what he was saying. We honestly thought it was a joke. This guy makes so many bastardized unscientific claims and even I can refute with ease, and I don’t have a college degree. I know good, truly loving Christians, am I am sad that people like Kent give them a bad name. Heck the pastor at my brother’s church has a science degree and even uses science in his sermons. He has found a way to meld the two, and I’m sure he would find Kent’s views nonsensical. My family isn’t really overly religious but I have yet to “come out” to my entire family as an atheist. They all know I have a very critical view of organized religion as a whole but they still think I believe a “god”. Probably not going to use Christmas dinner as my time to let them know.l though.
I think I could’ve beaten Ken in a debate when I was 12. You need bare minimum critical thinking to rebut everything he is saying. Actually, I could have debated him even younger and won. He doesn’t have any point that isn’t him just disagreeing. That is a level of close mindedness that requires you to be death and blind to seal up some holes in your head to reach.

Its not bad Christians giving good ones a bad name.. It's good christians giving bad christians centuries worth of coat tails to ride. Centuries worth of "benefit of the doubt". The vast majority of christian behavior I see in public is harmful to the general public. Some of it is charitable, and some of it is just defending them self from the bad behavior of the majority by claiming it's a tiny minority.
Entirely how I feel including with my own family except I still believe in God. I'm just growing more hesitant to call myself a Christian due to how much people like Kent Hovind, Greg Locke, and many others are giving the mere word a terrible rep. yup, that's how flat earthers act normally as well, im not surprised at all. When u know u are wrong, u need a something ridiculous to keep credibility in your group as "fighter for what is "right"", because otherwise u are irrelevant and noone cares about you except a small group. Provocativity is what brings the views
Psychology names this "transmission". It helps the offender to implict violence into his opponent without actually acting out violence against his opponent physically. Same goes for the countless personal insults. Its basically like a bully smacking his own hand while looking at the bullied person, implicting "you're about to get beaten up, just wait till school ends". No words neccessary. Its a rhetorical figure not of speech but of gestics and mimics so to say, but a very violent one and therefore really proves that the theist has zero arguments against him and just tries to "bully him back into place". But maybe its directed to the theists in Hovind's own audience as well, like "don't you dare doubt the fairytale I told you all the years. Not after you blindly followed half of your life without thinking like dull sheeps."
I am the only atheist in my family and my parents accepted that and just told me: we don't care what you believe as long as you can respect others and their beliefs.
Pretty sure you will say the same to your kids if they choose to be creationist, may the tradition of mutual respect keep on passing to future generations.
You can get a dr in divinity yourself, and get it pretty quick. The author Hunter S.
