@@wulfgarpl I haven't followed Angry Joe in years, so I don't know if it is a return to form or an anomalous blip, but his Starfield review seems like a genuine review - it praises shipbuilding, says space and gun combat are good enough to be fun, but not exceptional, and is critical of weak writing, characters, quests and poor immersion, with awful AI. He gives it a 6/10, saying it is slightly better than average but very disappointing given the size of the studio, resources spent, and known mistakes from previous games still not addressed.

i just have no expectations any more and havent for a long time lol. by the time i found your video i was already watching hours worth of banning (and finding more with every google search and F5) and barely even gave thought to whether your video was made in the context of having an awareness of all of that. you really did get unlucky with the timing then. and my comment on rob was to give more context to you ASAP so you could see what you were really up against for what i was about to say next, which was mostly just addressed to the dry shite they were coming out with. i honestly cant remember if i wrote my comment with an awareness of all of that banning, its been a long day. its really just a fucking mess that changes from day to day at this point. they are frantic, or as i say here, just apparently melting down.

I honestly can't fathom how it's getting worse with each passing day you'd think some proper damage control was going to be done right? Hence why I got a tad optimistic when they mentioned more staff were going to be on the forums because the fanbase has been crying out for more communication for a while. A few of my viewers were joking that is the "second End Times" for Warhammer Fantasy and sadly I'm inclined to believe them unless proven otherwise. At this point steam is just renting out shelves that other companies put their products in

you never "owned" physical media, anyway. Just a piece of plastic with data on it that comes with a license to use said data in the limited ways the license holder has intended you to use it. That's why they say things like "for home viewing only" or "commercial use prohibited". You are also not allowed to re-release and re-distribute the data. You never owned any media you haven't authored yourself and the issue here is not one of downloaded vs. physical media, in my opinion. It's just that the vast majority of games are unfree, proprietary software. At least valve provides some decent services with your limited license sheet.

When i bought a game an if it was broken mess, that was it, either have a moment an move in or go trade it in for something else. When you bought a game before all this online shit started popping up, you owned that copy of a game and their was nothing anyone could do about it.

Steam actually has a huge problem with power tripping mods of their own. Look it up, there's a whole thing about them abusing their power and banning people they don't like.

@@Looser_23 And yet, if someone wants to deny you access to physical media you own, they have to get the government to kick in your door and steal your stuff. The same goes for if a company wants to forcibly alter something you physically own. With digital media, there's no such guarantee and there are many, many instances of both of these sorts of behavior in regards to digital goods. A fair bit of good has come from ditching the restrictions of physical media, but so too are there downsides thereof.

i started with shogun 1 too. the PC gamer demo magazine in mid 2000. i was in the top 100th of a percentile or something to be first to play TW, and i didnt even mean it. my parents just bought the right demo CD at just the right time. totally agree.

This makes me feel old. I'm 37, started with Shogun on release, and it all felt so good until Medeival 2. Empire was probably the first mis-step, though they were clearly still trying in some areas (ship combat really was a must for that era, but they still did a nice job with it). I got burned hard with Rome 2 and since then I haven't bought a single one at release. I picked up Kingdoms on sale because I live in China and am a fan of the era and it was........... OK, but the actual fights outside of the hero units felt real bland.@@Volound

It is shocking to know that they never needed growth, they had attained the most valuable thing an RTS game developer could; consistently loyal customers recognizing their brand. Now I think of Hyenas and "Legends" or "Saga", and keep my money. They could have kept bolting shit onto rome 2 via old school expansion packs for a century, but....no, growth and progress, oh and hyenas. 😂 thats such a fucked end for CA
