It looks like the SFS might be out of business, since the the City of Santa Fe kicked them out of the station building. The train has not operaated in months and their one customer, a Budweiser distributor switched to trucks at least 3 years ago.
Once upon a time I worked the Santa Fe Southern Railway. I attended Modoc Railroad Academy in Oct and Nov of 2001 when it was still in Sacramento, CA. In late March of 2002 I hired out as a seasonal employee and returned in the spring to fall of 2004. It was the best time of my life as I got to refocus myself and despite a hiring disqualification at BNSF at the end June of 2004, the SFS rehired me and that's an opportunity I am thankful for. I miss the crew and staff and hope all is well with all of them wherever they are.
