Great Video Pye! Thank you. I am using 2x AEOS2Pro and the little Neo3 and they are brilliant. But as you know, the modifier options are very limited. You can use Speedlight to Bowens adapter to use bowens mount softboxes, but the light is quite too far ahead inside to make the full use of the softbox. I have created a cardboard tube for one of the lamps to prevent the light spill. The honeycomb for AEOS cost 150 pounds. There are some square dedicated softboxes available as well as awfully expensive smart softbox. Some third party modifiers would really help here to manage the budget. As of the trigger, these lamps work with variety of remote triggers, and the £76 godox one does the job. Lastly: the app - it gives the same menu as on the lamp which is great, but having to reconnect with every lamp after adjusting different one is very frustrating on set. They disconnect every time you move between them. I hope there is (or will be) a way to have them all available to adjust in the app simultaneously. But I am really looking forward to use them in different scenarios, they really offer a lot of creative opportunities!
Brilliant video Pye. Love the final image ❤. More Rotolight please. Maybe using modifiers ( I understand adapters for Bowens mount are available) as discussed and the new pro lights 🤔.
First Aside from now.. I've only seen one other person use these Rotolights for shoot on RU-vid. I'd rather stick to my squared RGB lights than these round ones.. feel it would be easier to control the lighting with the barn doors.
Do your square lights also do flash? Who is the manufacturer? I would presume accessories for square is more cost efficient. Since these are premium lights and will definitely lighten the billfold considerably you are not seeing every one with them.
@@jlopez7596 Who's using LEDs as flash?? Feel it's a gimmick.. having the led lights push out a spike of light to mimic a flash. No chance I'll be using these in shoots.
@@RobertXPhotography this is mentioned at the beginning of the video. It is used for extremely fast recycle time. Ie dance photos. I have never tried it myself but certainly would give it try by renting these lights.
@@RobertXPhotography In flash mode they give an extra stop of light than in continuous high. It also has other benefits like a longer battery life and not having to blind your subject with very bright constant lighting.
The bad thing about barndoors on a rotolight is the 100 LED's make 100 tiny zigzag shadows on your subject The Diffuser dome removes the harsh pattern, but the diffuser dome cannot be used with the barn doors. So, the only thing left is to use the dome and flag it with a black card, which is about $215 less expensive than the barn doors.
