Alright y’all! Let’s get into some pulls and pops! Super effective, and you look cool doing it. Nothing more tiring that really trying to hit someone and getting air.

Excellent video Cory, i was wondering how the sales are going, from this clips it's obvious it is such great content, but even though it is priced really well (if you compare for example bjj instructionals with instructors of similar caliber, yours are cheaper) , it seems a relatively small niche. I hope the sales are great and you can justify keep investing your time on doing this. I believe instructionals are awesome for a multitude of reasons but one of the best is that they are timeless, your instructionals coud help the careers of fighters that are born many years after your death, and the principles you teach could help much more people than you could ever reach in person.

3:04 dont worry cory you dont have to make constant disclaimers we know nothing is set in stone and even the most fundamental principals become bad practice when overused and even the most basic rules are meant to be broken at the highest levels. But big respect for letting it be known, just dont let it get in the way of your teaching

Your striking methodology is beautiful. So much more to striking than what people realize. Combos are nice, but for every attack there is a counter, and a counter to the counter, and a counter to that etc. beautiful work, you’ve won me over as a fan my man!

Yo, I’m a fan but not a massive watcher of MMA fights, somewhere between a casual and amateur. Massive respect for your success. I came here ‘cause I got curious after seeing clips of your time on Joe’s podcast. And I have to say, I’m blown away by how efficient and relevant your teaching feels in this video. It’s all digestible and applicable, and I feel like you really hit the balance for scaling it both to the hobbyists and the enthusiasts at a more intermediate or higher level. I’m sure you’ll leave a great legacy behind as a coach and teacher as well as through your own fighting. I hope the full instructional course continues to do well! Rest easy, now!

Hello Cory ! Thank you very much :) I don't know how you don't have more views or likes on this content, because I enjoy it a lot and find it really helpful ! The way you teach is perfect, because you understand that we all have different styles and knowledge about fighting, and you still adapt by teaching the basics that could work for anybody regardless of their background. You also said that there are many ways to do one same thing, no rules. For example, this logic applies for hooks, there are many ways to throw a hook. There's not only one unique type of hooks that is correct. Also it depends on the distance, on the height of the opponent, etc. Concerning what we would like to see next, since you've asked (I hope you're reading this), I would really like you to do a video about footwork, and more precisely the constant switching stance you always do. You used it very much in your fight against Chito or TJ. The way you switch southpaw to move to your left out of nowhere sometimes is just amazing. And many more details you do to create angles and evade strikes... I'd really like to know why, when, and how you do them ! Sean O'Malley also uses the switching stance type of footwork a lot ! This is what helped him most in the fight against Sterling. In fact that's the reason why Sterling wasn't able to get a hold of O'Malley. I am very tall (6.1ft) for my weight class (150lbs), but therefore kind of very skinny. So fighters like you or Sean really inspire me a lot. You're the best

Yo Cory, huge fan, heal up and when you do fight for that title shot. Fight Sean, Vera, Merab, Dana, the UFC, the world to campaign for that title shot cause in my opinion you deserve it more than anyone in the division at the moment. I swear, if Vera gets it before you do imma pop a blood vessel cause we need honest fighters like you to bring some semblance of proper sportsmanship that embody that spirit of being a martial artist.

That was a great video and great drill. And although there are several progressions to this exercise it is only one exercise. The question is how do you combine different exercises that share the same theme or main idea into a workout. How do you choose the main focus of a workout. So that all the drills and exercises Within it share a common theme?

Hey Cory, great video. I have a question regarding the weight of the front leg. Around the 18 minute mark you mention that you should keep the left / lead leg heavy to push back. If you are consistently popping after combinations, would your opponent be able to start chopping at your legs as they expect you to be heavy on the lead leg? I understand striking is dynamic so you shouldn't necessarily be doing the same evasive movement after every engagement, but I still worry about leaving that leg out without the ability to quickly check.

Greetings from the equator. I love your videos and I just thought maybe I could give some genuine feedback. I think your videos could improve a lot just by raising the volume. When I watch your shorts or videos, the volume is, to some degree, lower compared to other videos on RU-vid, so I think your videos would stand out a lot more if the volume was just a bit higher. That's all. I also root for Chito and other fighters, but I like your personality and philosophy a lot better, so good luck on getting that belt ✌️

So I tried that 2nd pop drill with the cross during a sparring sesh but I just couldn't catch the guy. I think partly it's because i'd take a big step back but there's also the fact that this guy just keeps moving backwards whenever someone throws shit at him. How would you go about closing the distance following a pop in the situation where the other guy keeps moving back? I was thinking to try a little gallop once I pop off and build up from there with whatever is open. Cut an angle or something. But man, he is literally always retreating, doesn't even counter which I suppose makes things a bit less risky for me. Just really difficult to catch him. Thanks for these videos btw man, they're super cool and it's great that you've made some of them free. Might invest some $$ in the paid content once I can spare some cash.

I like the fighting game comparison because combos in real life it's not as simple as when you land your jab you do A, B and C. They need to be done with the idea that whatever you're hitting is gonna hit back.

@CorySandhagenMMA

Good question. Off the top of my head, you have to know all the techniques (Jab, cross, hooks, etc) - these are your weapons. Then learn how to be defensive and keep yourself safe (good guard, movement, etc). Then learn how to be defensive and add in offense. Then learn to be offensive while also defensive. I get into a lot on the instructionals tbh
