"There's the warning, well maybe not do that anymore" 30 secs later does it again. Watching Bowen play is so fun. He should have a Netflix show where he just does tutorials for every pinball machine out there.
That will be fun to see all the tutorials for all pin games out there, I also love to watch these videos from Bowen, I am a huge pinball fan. Creature is so much fun to play, a real classic. I play it sometimes on pinball arcade, but the real table is of course much more fun.
as for the Video Mode's secret ending, it's actually one of two Easter Eggs which allude to Mortal Kombat (which came out a month before CFTBL). The 2nd MK reference is that when you shoot the snack bar, there's a scene where you can strangle the snack bar employee which will trigger a ''Choking Fatality''. Finally, there's an Easter Egg nod to Pac-Man which is triggered when you score the Snack Attack hurry-up bonus which will cause the game to play a melody similar to his game start theme.
I played this two days ago in the Pinball Museum in Budapest, after not having played it for 25 years. Me and my friends played it at our local snackbar, they had a new machine every few months and this was our favorite. After a few games I got the hang of it again and scored well over 200 million points.
Something that's worth mentioning: there's a bug in the bonus multiplier where, for each time you advance the Bonus X, the bonus _doubles_ instead of being multiplied by the intended amount. So 2X and 4X work as they should, but 6X is actually 8X, 8X is actually 16X, and 10X turns into a whopping _32X._ So yeah, if you've built up a high multiplier, for the love of God, _don't tilt._
Now that this is in pinball fx, i've got some tips here. Trying on a real machine, results may vary. 0) DISABLE VSYNC if you feel any flipper lag. it will vanish completely. 1) The feed out of the bumpers is VERY kind. you can nearly ALWAYS either hold trap or dead bounce and trap it. Easily as nice as TPA is. VERY rarely ,it will take a bad hop off the slingshot, but it still won't drain. 2) to get move your car, hold trap out of the bumpers, but after the first bounce lower the flipper, and just after it hits the flipper the second time, flip again. it goes right back into the bumpers. Every time. Playing only for move your car is a reasonable but slow strategy. 3) unlike tpa on release, the ramps are not jokes. But a clean shot will ALWAYS make it up. Even in multiball. 4) you CAN hold trap balls out of the whirlpool. you can't hold trap anything else reliably except the bumper feed or it's dead bounce. 5) do NOT expect to be able to backhand the right ramp. instead, simply shoot the snackbar directly from right flipper. It's actually very doable with just a teeny bit of practice from a trap. 6) you CAN directly shoot the snackbar off of it's own feed pretty reliably. But choking the shot can be VER Y bad. It's easier and safer from a trap. 7) you CAN shoot kiss from both a trap and it's own feed/snackbar/left ramp, but it's not exactly easy either way. you need to flip a bit later than you'd expect from a trap. This kiss shot is VERY easy to choke on, and you won't always get the ball back, though you often can. 8) you CAN shoot the slide from a trap or the right ramp feed. slide from trap is easier than kiss from trap. 9) center shot from trap on left is not that easy. but snackbar is, and center from that feed is pretty easy. 10) to get ball from trap on left to trap on right, shoot the snackbar, then shoot the center shot. to get ball from trap on right to trap on left, shoot the center shot and dead bounce. 11) ramps are easier to shoot from a trap, but can be shot on the fly as well with effort. 12) The feed from slide is hard to handle. So start multiball with the kiss shot instead. Overall, a very good recreation. It definitely has that choke factor inherent in real pinball.
More tips. 1) there's a bug that you can use to get a 9,999,999,999 snack attack hurryup. BUT Pinball FX will remove 10 billion points from your score afterwards if you use it. So don't bother. :) 2) draining will allow you to increase the multiball multiplier again. it's only multiballs on the SAME BALL that are screwed up. 3) if you get two balls under the playfield at once, you can often get a free kiss letter. this works best when you collect a jackpot. 4) be sure to collect the snackbar early. it's usually an extra ball then.
Here's silly bug in the game: if you start "Snack Attack" and during the mode you begin multiball, upon draining one of 2 balls you'll not get the multiball restart and the snack bar shot will be displayed as 9 billion points worth due to massive underflow in the variable used with the Snack Attack's reward display. The game will give probably no points after the shot is made in this state.
That's not how it works. You have to drain during multiball restart. then it will start snack attack at the beginning of your NEXT ball with a 9,999,999,990. this will probably roll your score over, and is likely to cause a net decrease. If you do it in a tournament, expect them to ignore the rollover, and treat it as you lowering your score. It used to work like that, but now you will get a 20M snack attack as intended unless you drain the way i said to before it can fix it.
Also there's one tiny thing: @ 10:27 you can hear the game's knocker, but the animation used to indicate the awarded replay came up after the player got a tilt warning @ 10:58.
I've been looking EVERYWHERE for this table. I must have it. A few years ago I set 4th on one of these in the old Pinball hall of fame in Baltimore and ever since I've been looking for it but I can't find anyone who has one let alone whos willing to sell it. Any idea on where I could get my hands on one?
Ugh, this table.. Finally got some decent scores on it in Pinball Arcade... And then I met the real deal at our new pinball den in my city. Completely suck at this table. Balls drain faster than I can shoot them out, usually. Love the theme though, and the music is fantastic. If only I didn't have to pay like $1.5 pr play, I'd play the shit out of it.

Movie Madness on the right ramp during multiball has infinitely progressive scoring. This is meaningless on the physical machine where balls may randomly bounce around and you will inevitably drain before the scoring gets high enough to matter, but on digital versions of the game - Pinball Arcade - where the ball trajectory is more easily controlled this strategy can lead to tens, hundreds of billions of points from this shot. Start multiball, ignore the jackpots, keep hitting the right ramp. Particularly in the versions of Pinball Arcade where the ball comes to a rest on the left flipper from a shot to the right ramp - e.g. easily controlled, repeated shots to the right ramp. My high score from ten years ago doing this is still top ten on the Pinball Arcade leaderboard IIRC.
Your creature must be set up easy.... We have several creatures on location in Malmoe ( Sweden), and i have not been able to make a live catch with the left flipper on any of them! Medieval Madness has a much simplier live catch on the left flipper ( when you destroy a castle)
This machine is a little disappointing, to be honest... this drive in movie theme is dumb, and it takes forever to get to the Frickin' Multiball. There should be a drive-in movie themed machine, and a Creature From The Black Lagoon themed machine. Not both.
My trouble with the machine is that he doesn't show up in 3-D until you've gone through the whole FILM thing, and then you have to shoot the hole, the slide, and the kiss shot sometimes during multiball just to get him to pop up. There's not a single mode outside of multiball that's about the movie. For a pinball machine that calls itself "Creature From The Black Lagoon," he's not in there much. It should just be called "Drive In Movie". The Creature From The Black Lagoon might not have a very complex plot, but there's enough in there to warrant a whole pinball machine. I like the ramps a lot, especially that swirly one, but it has some deceptive advertising. Better for 50s fans than Creature From The Black Lagoon fans.
Here's the thing. I'd like playing a 50's pinball machine... that's beside the point. The point is that this machine says it's something that it's not. There's not enough Creature From The Black lagoon in there. It captures the 50s well... but it has very, very little to do with The Creature From the Black Lagoon, and while I can usually get to multi-ball, I think it's ridiculous to make everything except the multi-ball about Drive in Movies. It incorporates too much- so much, in fact, that it forgets what it's going for. I love the artwork, and the ramps. I don't care about toys... but this is not a game about Creature From The Black lagoon, and it should be, because Creature From The Black lagoon is a solid movie with a lot of potential.
Hmm not to brag but im able to get multiball in one ball… then again I’ve had a CFTBL in my house for a very long time now so I definitely have experience 🤷🏻♂️
It's not that hard to get, sure, and I can usually get it... but Dang, there's nothing about the movie outside multiball. This is NOT a Creature From The Black Lagoon pinball machine. Just a Drive In Movie pinball machine. They need to make one that's ONLY about the movie, and that's it.
