For a physical table, yes, best theme ever: catch fish, lie about how big they are. If we include digital tables, though, I need to give the nod to Pinball FX2's Biolab table, where a mad scientist is trying to genetically engineer the perfect creature and clone it to take over the world, but all the creature cares about is the cookie jar.
Brutal was the first word I thought of too. It punishes anything less than blistering accuracy, but the rewards are massive. Playing this turns other tables into slow motion.
i just found out about pinball through Pinball FX3 and this is one of the machines i can play in the game; i love playing it! i never would've known that there was strategy in pinball i just liked seeing the ball bounce super fast with the music in the background lol
Absolutely love the Fish Tales. Glad that Zen’s preserved this one with Pinball FX. Play it on the Switch myself. Sadly, my local arcade lacks any pinball machines these days. BUT, i’ve talked to the people who order machines, and they told me they’d look into getting something in. Been a longtime viewer on my older channels. Subbed!
This is the table that got me really into pinball! They had it at my laundry-mat and I sought out other tables after achieving a highscore on this game.
It took me 5 days to get 270,000,000 points on the pinball arcade, I love how difficult this game is! had no idea of the Super Jackpot being 100,000,000! thanx for the tutorial pinball heroes!
I've played Fish Tales (on the Williams pinball app) by now 100 times, focusing on the multi-ball. I'm really good at loading the multi-ball, but just like you pointed out, the balls drain quickly (really frustrating) The most difficult thing for me is getting the bonus multiplier. It looks like you're not monitoring the comments!
AWESOME game with hours of enjoyment. Just had mine serviced after sitting for almost 2 yrs with a good cleaning and new rubbers and all new LED lights and it's better than ever. So many fun ways 2 score.
At 1:32 mark there's fishbone fish swimming in the background on the DMD. If you happen to press the cast button at least 10 times while it's displayed, you'll get Russ' Fishbone Bonus for 10 points.
In addition to that, if you happen to start multiball while the skeleton fish is in the background, you can simply trap at least 2 balls on either flipper and spam the cast button.
In this game there's a tiny bug, where when the game gets tilted right before video mode is started, you'll be able to play it normally. After the mode is over, you'll regain control of the flippers despite of game displaying "TILT" on the DMD. Also, the video mode music is playing in the background.
Fish tales is just so unique as a pinball board. I dont play pinball well but this board really teaches you how to launch your balls once you got them by the flippers. Even when i play this board on PinballFX3 i still have trouble playing the board
Really useful video thanks - I love this table on Pinball FX3, but I'd love to be able to play the real version some time, never found it yet though! I think a lot of the appeal in this game is the huge numbers, it's so addictive watching them go up and up. My highest score is nowhere near this, I can only just break about a hundred million at the moment but I'm confident I can smash that after watching this! Thanks :)
Last tuesday I went to play Fish Tales at a local bowling alley. It had a color display and regular flippers instead of lightning flippers yet for some reason I still couldn't achieve a huge score on it. I love FT! Really tough yet rewarding table.
That was some amazing play! Hopefully in a few days I'll be headed to a fish tales cab of my own to try my luck! Wonderful video, keep doing more! Fish Tales is an amazing cabinet.
I played this for the first time tonight at Next Level in Hillsboro, OR. I played 17 machines and this was in my top 3. Fast and fun and I love the unique, weird fishing theme. Fish-stretching!
The other two were Monster Bash (I'm about to watch your tutorial right now) and Space Jam (which you don't have a tutorial for yet). Have you ever played Space Jam? Would you ever consider doing a tutorial on it?
I don't think Monster Fish and Jackpot having the same values at first and being collected on the same shot is a coincidence. What better way to win a fishing competition than to catch a monstrously large fish?
The table is fun, but also kinda unfair. As mentioned in the game Pinball FX3, the gap between the flippers is more wide then usual. Causing many situation where you're 100% absolute unable to save the ball, regardless of how good you are.
Found one of these in the wild today (albeit in kinda rough shape). Great game, looking forward to sinking some more coins into it. (Gotta say though: it is without doubt the most stable machine I have ever played. Couldn't nudge it, definitely in no risk of tilting).
I’m prolly the only guy whose wife trusts him to go to Vegas alone because she knows I do nothing but play pinball THREE DAYS STRAIGHT at the PHOF Museum! Time to SCHEDULE A TRIP!! 💪
First time I saw this game, I took that wider gap between the flippers as a deliberate challenge. Was alot of fun making that game heat up, somewhere past about 150-180 million it really got good, past 300 million it was just nutz. I shot for loading up multi-balls. And of course the feeding frenzy. Jackpots just kinda happened, IIRC. Game got so fast ,there wasn't much time to think about them .
Wow - They have this one at the local place I go to, but I always over look it due to all the other machines they have. But this looks like a blast and I will play it next time I am there.
The table is brutal for a beginner, I got the multiball but the ball hits the right side coming down almost always goes down the centre to drain in PinballFX3. You do make me want to get better with your videos.
I can't imagine how many quarters it takes to get this good ! Thanks for the excellent video and multitasking, even being able to give instructions and play at the same time. AND without swearing. Amazing.
Fish Tales on Pinball FX3 doesn't have a drop target in front of Caster's Club, and neither did the one I played in person at a bowling alley last tuesday. Does that drop target come standard or is it an addition to the table in this video?
The drop target is down by default at the beginning of the game. it is only raised in the following cases. 1) you are in multiball and only one ball is left on the field and you are shooting for single or double jackpot. In this case if you drop it it pops back up. 2) you have scored a jackpot, and multiball is over, and you have to hit it to relight the locks. it stays down in this case. This one is set on hard, where even for first multiball, the locks have to be qualified. That's why it's up at game start.
I so want to be good at this game, as I love almost everything about it (minus the shorter flippers). Does anyone make normal length flippers for it as a mod? Not that that would make me great at it. But it could surely help some. I've been thinking that this machine could be the one I purchase one day in real life. But until then I'll keep playing it virtually.
you can swap the flippers with normal yellow williams flippers. This makes the casters club drop target less deadly, but makes the ramps flow worse. its' a tough call. it's easier to do the boat ramp with the lightning flippers.
Fish Tales is a brutally difficult pin ball game with tons of drain points and extremely tight shots that challenge the very best players. I kinda just don't like this game, I'm not too big on the fishing theme and though there is some good humor, it's too low brow for me to have fun with it and the game punishes you far too much to really have any real fun at all playing.
Vision821 WOW he doesn't enjoy a pinball machine that's harder than shoving a pineapple up you're ass while trying to blow a guppy, it's like some people enjoy less straining machines that don't make you want to fucking brutalize a small African child. Though I agree on the fishing theme thing quite soulless for not enjoying the fishing theme
Nope nope nope. This game is TIGHT and extremely fast but few tables have a mechanic as satisfying as the port and starboard figure-eight loops... the multiball sucks, though.... the table is just too busy for it to be worthwhile imo.
