One thing to add about the platinum card is that the first supplementary card is free, something even the US versin does not offer. If you give it to your partner the value proposition is much more appealing as the benefits/perks are shared (minus the fixed annual credits)
My goodness. The Platinum now £650. That's just wrong. It was already a ridiculous annual price. I'm not sure I will renew next year. And I'll bet they haven't included any new benefits/perks.
Also, on the 'free' travel insurance - this only applies when booking travel through Amex, which is not normally the cheapest option. The Lloyds card sounds like a much better option
Thank you! What’s a good alternative for the Amex Gold? I use it with my wife for day to day spending & never really looked at how beneficial it was till now. Looking to cancel it as a long time member/user to something with a cheaper fee & similar rewards if possible. The fraud protection & insurance was good to have on purchases etc
Hi Andy, Great content as always, thanks a lot. My first year of Amex Platinum cashback is ending in 2 weeks, would you recommend moving to a different card? does it makes any difference if i do it before/after the 1 year mark?
@Andy for the Amex Platinum Welcome offer (12.26 mins) you mentioned you can't get a prorated refund anymore....but I thought you mentioned at the start this has been delayed for some months?
Well you can, but it’s unlikely you’ll spend £10k before that rule changes, so if you want the bonus you’ve got to do it on the assumption you won’t get a partial refund
Amazing content! Wanted to know, what reward/cashback credit card is worth keeping in the long run while we wait to cycle other cards (i.e. Amex gold for their welcome bonus etc)
